  • The aims of this study were to evaluate the joint coordination between hip and knee joints in the transfemoral amputees, and its symmetry between sound and prosthetic limbs. Seven transfemoral amputees ($46.4{\pm}10.7-year-old$, $174.8{\pm}3.5cm$, $78.3{\pm}9.7kg$) and 7 able bodies ($24.0{\pm}4.5-year-old$, $174.5{\pm}5.9cm$, $66.9{\pm}9.4Kg$) participated in this study. They walked at a self-selected walking speed across a 10m level ground. Simultaneously angle and angular velocity in the hip and knee joint were measured by motion analysis system. Then continuos relative phase(CRP), standard deviations of CRP (CRP_SD) and symmetry index(SI) were calculated. In able bodies, there were no differences of the parameters between left and right limb(all p>0.05). However, significant differences between sound and prosthetic limb in most of the parameters, except for CRP for stance phase were shown (all p<0.05). There were differences in all SI between transfemoral amputees and able bodies (p<0.05). In conclusion, joint coordination was altered in transfemoral amputee during level walking and shown in interlimb asymmetry.

  • Hydraulic breaker is currently used for many civil engineering areas owing to the ease of changing the tooling mechanism. However, due to a high noise level, it has been one of notorious sources of environmental noise and the prevailing environmental concerns force the manufacturers to reduce the radiated noise levee during operations. To comply with such concerns, the present study is focused on designing and developing a low-noise hydraulic breaker For this purpose, sound sources are identified and relative contributions are rated. Acoustic enclosure. sealing systems, and low-nolle type chisel have been developed and applied to the actual machine. As a result, the radiated noise from the developed low-noose hydraulic breaker is reduced more than 13 dB(A) In comparison with the conventional hydraulic bleaker.

  • Three-dimensional flow measurements were conducted between the rotors of the CRP To understand mean flow phenomena of the CRP's, the results of the three-dimensional measurements were shown. Interaction noise of the CRP, which increases the overall ,level of sound pressure In the new propulsion system, is documented by using the double conditional sampling technique. The rear rotor will increase the axial flow between the rotors of a CRP depending upon the relative locations between the forward and the rear rotor blades. The decay and spreading of the forward wakes and the upstream propagation of the rear blade disturbances are shown along with the interaction of the flow disturbances by the two rotors of blades.

  • The present study was conducted to analyze high school students' attitudes toward jean brand counterfeits relative to their self-esteem and self-consciousness. The study was implemented through a normative-descriptive survey using questionnaire. The sample consisted of 605 high school students from 6 high schools located in Seoul. Data were analyzed by mean, cluster analysis, regression, ANOVA and Duncan's test. The results were as follows: (1) As a whole, the mean values of preference and purchasing intentions toward counterfeit jeans were 2.99 and 2.83, respectively, indicating a slightly low average on the 5-point Likert scale. The results indicated that 45.5% of respondents have more than one item of counterfeit jeans. (2) Differences were found in the level of self-esteem and public self-consciousness among the three groups, who were classified by the level of purchasing intention and preference toward counterfeit jeans. Among the three groups (high/middle/low), the group having low purchasing intention and preference toward counterfeit jeans showed higher self-esteem and public self-consciousness than the other two groups. (3)Regression analysis showed that the self-esteem and public self-consciousness of high school students have an impact on the amount of purchasing of counterfeit jeans. (4)In the process of developing effective policies against the jean brand counterfeits market, it should be fully considered that high school students' purchasing intentions regarding jean brand counterfeits are related to their self-consciousness. It could be said that the policies followed to eliminate counterfeits and to enhance the consumer ethics of high school students will be more effective when those policies are accompanied by efforts to form their sound self-consciousness, especially in the areas of self-esteem and public self-consciousness.

  • This system is a diagnosis system that checks whether it causes a partial discharge of a power cable or not. PD(Partial Discharge) is detected by FBDS(Frequency Band Detection Sensor). That is, it means a acoustic sensor capable of detecting each frequency band. The wave shape of PD sound is similar to noise and is systematically generated by partial discharge. Therefore, in this paper, we could discriminate between normal and abnormal case using relative level crossing rate(RLCR) and spectrogram of frequency energy rate.

  • In order to evaluate environmental comfort of tractor cabs, temperature, relative humidity and noise within the cab were taken from 31 tractors during plowing and rotovating operations. The temperature and humidity were evaluated with regard to the comfort zone of KS B ISO 14269-2 and PMV of ISO 7730. The noise was evaluated with regard to the permissible sound level of OSHA for daily exposure of 8 hours. The collected data indicated that thermal environment of the cabs was out of the comfort zone, which meant tractor operators worked under uncomfortable thermal conditions. Difference in the thermal comfort by tractor power and maker, and type of works was not found. However, 25% of the studied tractors showed PMV in a range of -0.5 to +0.5, which indicated their operators worked under the comfort criteria. PMV was improved when the cab was air-conditioned. Levels of measured cab noise were lower than the permissible criteria, and 76.7% of the studied tractors had cab noise ranged from 75 to 85 dBA. There was a tendency that high powered tractors, rotovating operations and locally-made tractors had greater cab noise levels. However, their differences were insignificant.

  • This paper presents the results of the experimental investigation on the effect of acoustic wave on the combustion of suspended A-1 jet fuel droplets in atmospheric pressure. Experimental results indicate that A-1 jet fuel droplet burning rate constants $k_c$ were independent of initial droplet size and the relative evaporation/burning-rate constant $k_{e'}k_c$(ratio of the acoustically disturbed evaporation/burning-rate constant to the undisturbed evaporation/burning-rate constant) increased remarkably 1.2~1.51times, 1.04~1.42times, for frequency below 100Hz, and sound pressure level above 80dB.

  • By using a centerbody injection, an effort to reduce shock assoicated noise is made in an underexpanded sonic nozzle with an exit diameter of 10mm. The centerbody or micro nozzle, aligned with the axis of the main jet has an o.d. of 2mm and i.d. of 1.5mm. When measured at 90$^{\circ}$ relative to the main jet the farfield noise spectra showed that the screech tones and broadband shock associated noise can be significantly reduced simply by varying the length of the centerbody and/or mass fraction of the microjet. The maximum reduction in overall sound pressure level (OASPL) was as much as 9 and 4 ㏈ at fully expanded jet Mach numbers Mi of 1.3 and 1.5, respectively, when the length of the centerbody was varied from 0 to 4 main nozzle diameters without blowing. With the aid of the blowing, the maximum reduction in OASPL increased to 12 and 7 ㏈ at M$\sub$j/=1.3 and 1.5, respectively. The impact pressure field in the main jet plume strongly suggested that the reduced periodic pressure distribution in the shear layers and/or centerline is responsible for the reduced screech and broadband shock associated noise. Therefore, the steady blowing by a micro centerbody is a promising technique for shock noise reduction in a supersonic jet.
