Accurate relative location estimation is a key requirement in indoor localization systems based on wireless sensor networks (WSNs). However, although these systems have applied not only various optimization algorithms but also fusion with sensors to achieve high accuracy in position determination, they are difficult to provide accurate relative azimuth and locations to users because of cumulative errors in inertial sensors with time and the influence of external magnetic fields. This paper based on ultra-wideband positioning system, which is relatively suitable for indoor localization compared to other wireless communications, presents an indoor localization system for estimating relative azimuth and location of location-unaware nodes, referred to as target nodes without applying any algorithms with complex variable and constraints to achieve high accuracy. In the proposed method, the target nodes comprising three mobile nodes estimate the relative distance and azimuth from two reference nodes that can be installed by users. In addition, in the process of estimating the relative localization information acquired from the reference nodes, positioning errors are minimized through a novel modified rounding estimation technique in which Kalman filter is applied without any time consumption algorithms. Experimental results show the feasibility and validity of the proposed system.
In off-line phase of the preliminary Cut-off indoor positioning scheme, which is one of the indoor positioning scheme using the fingerprint, relative ranks of peak RSSIs received from beacons at each reference point are stored in the fingerprint map. In some reference points, signals of multiple beacons may be received. In this case, the relative ranks may be different when constructing fingerprint and when receiving signals in real-time. To solve this problem, we propose a method to utilize only up to five beacons with high ranking when constructing a fingerprint and when receiving signals in real-time and comparing them with stored information of a fingerprint. Experiments were conducted on the estimation probabilities and the average error when using this method. Those are compared with the previous methods. Experimental results show that the estimation probabilities and the average error are improved by removing only the remaining five beacons at each reference point of the fingerprint.
Not only the preference data but also the similarity data can be used for developing effective marketing strategies. Hahn et al.[10] proposes a methodology of representing a brand(focal brand)'s competitors in a single map called the Preference-Similarity Map, according to their relative preference to and similarity with the focal brand. They also proposes a way to derive the relative preference and similarity values from the survey collecting the choice data from differing choice sets. This study identifies the limitations of the preference and similarity measures proposed by Hahn et al.[10] and shows how these measures can be revised. This study also proposes how to implement the revised measures and analyze brands' positioning strategies. Based on the results of the previous studies on the effect of inter brand similarity on brand evaluations, this study assumes that it is important to analyze how much a specific brand is preferred to its close competitors when evaluating the effectiveness of the brand's positioning in the market. This study applies the proposed measures to the data used in Hahn et al.[10] and also show how the proposed measures are related to the parameters of the choice model proposed by Batsell and Polking[1].

The rover positioning is performed by estimating the baseline vector components in doubledifference positioning mode. This means that relative displacement due to the tide effects can be neglected when the distance between the reference and rover station is relatively short. However, the tide effects should be carefully modeled and removed as the baseline length gets longer. In this study, the relative displacement over the Korean Peninsula due to tide effects are examined through the numerical analysis. The results show that the tide modeling is required for the precise GPS positioning at cm-level accuracy.
For the train positioning system currently applied in high-speed MAGLEV train systems, it is classified into absolute positioning systems which discontinuously detect train positions, and relative positioning systems which continuously detect train positions. In this paper we analyze the configuration model and the numerical model of the absolute positioning system applied in TRANSRAPID which is a representative high-speed MAGLEV train, and design the two configuration models specific to the recognition structures of absolute positioning systems. We also verify the compatibility of the design models of absolute positioning system through simulation using MATLAB and propose the optimal configuration model of absolute positioning systems for high-speed MAGLEV train system.

With the development of mobile internet, requirements of positioning accuracy for the LBS (Location Based Service) are becoming more and more higher. The LBS is based on the position of each mobile device. So, it requires a proper acquisition of accurate user's indoor position. Thus indoor positioning technology and its accuracy is crucial for various LBS. In general, RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) measurements are used to obtain the position information of mobile unit under WLAN environment. However, indoor positioning error increases as multiple AP's configurations are becoming more complex. To overcome this problem, an enhanced indoor localization method by AP (Access Point) selection criteria adopting DOP (Dilution of Precision) is proposed.

In this paper, we propose an indoor positioning technique using the landmark based on relative Access Point (AP) signal strengths. The absolute values of AP signals are used to conventional indoor positioning technologies, but they may be different because of the difference of the measuring device, the measuring environment, and the timing of the measurements. However, we found the fact that the flow of the AP's RSSI in certain places shows almost constant patterns. Based on theses characteristics, we identify the relative strength between the APs and store the certain places as landmarks where they show certain patterns. Once the deployment of the landmark map is complete, system calculate position of user using the IMU sensor of smartphone and calibrate it with stored landmarks. Our system shows 75.2% improvement over technology that used only sensors, and 39.6% improvement over technology that used landmarks that were selected with absolute values.

It requires a lot of time and effort for general users who do not have enough understanding of GPS to properly processing GPS data. However, the GPS data processing field heavily relies on foreign-produced software and there is almost no development of user-oriented technology. Therefore, in this study, it was attempted to build an expert service that enables non-experts to use high-precision GPS data processing. As a result, an expert service that can maximize user convenience simply by entering the minimum required information for GPS data processing was developed, and the expert service was verified by relative positioning processing of the observation data of satellite control point provided by National Geographic Information Institute and observation data obtained by GPS survey. The expert service significantly reduces the effort and time for processing GPS data, which will contribute to precise positioning and other various studies.

GPS signal delay that caused by dry gases and water vapor in troposphere is a main error source of GPS point positioning and it must be eliminated for precise point positioning. In this paper, we implemented to generate tropospheric delay grid map over the Korean Peninsula based on post-processing method by using the GPS permanent station network in order to determine the availability of tropospheric delay generation algorithm. GIPSY 5.0 was used for GPS data process and nationwide AWS observation network was used to calculate the amount of dry delay and wet delay separately. As the result of grid map's accuracy analysis, the RMSE between grid map data and GPS site data was 0.7mm in ZHD, 7.6mm in ZWD and 8.5mm in ZTD. After grid map accuracy analysis, we applied the calculated tropospheric delay grid map to single frequency relative positioning algorithm and analyzed the positioning accuracy enhancement. As the result, positioning accuracy was improved up to 36% in case of relative positioning of Suwon(SUWN) and Mokpo(MKPO), that the baseline distance is about 297km.

Geodetic Satellite Positioning Techniques (NNSS, Transit, Doppler, VLBI, SLR etc.) still have much difficulty in surveying and necessity of point positions is being amplified in korea. Therefore some research institutes have being investigated point positioning using the GPS. In this study, 1 arranged the theory deal with point positioning using GPS carrier beat phase of dual frequency and estimated corrections of errors that be included in GPS observable. Also, 1 determined point position by the differencing scheme of GPS carrier phase, and analyzed the accuracy of point position. 1 suggested potentiality of geodetic point positioning using GPS carrier phase by comparing result of relative positioning with result of point positioning and analyzing result of network adjustment fixed any point position.
