This study developed an algorithm to predict the most efficient evacuation protocol in an elementary school that has an irregular type of architectural planning. The assumption of this study takes a stand point that today's elementary schools are designed in unusual and irregular floor type and, therefore, past architect's knowledge regarding efficient evacuation will no longer effective to save lives. In this regard, this study applied an algorithm that is especially designed to find appropriate locations in general in the field of industrial engineering, which has been proven for many decades. Furthermore, this study not only adapted an engineering model but also conversed to examine spatial relationship and added the concept of group evacuation, which will delay the whole evacuation process, in the tested algorithm to make it more architectural. Consequently, this study compared its outcome with an existing elementary school and questioned its effectiveness in evacuation process based on the algorithm.

Whereas a large variety of previous studies show mixed results regarding the relationship between public investment and economic outcome, several studies have been conducted on related issues in Korea. The present study deals with the effect of public investment in Korea on economic growth and productivity. Using administrative data, it exploits three different methodologies: the total factor productivity approach, production function approach, and stochastic frontier production function approach. The results of this study show that public investment has a statistically significant effect on economic growth. However, it contributes little to enhance productivity. It is explained that there exists inefficiency of production in the Korean economy. These findings indicate that public investment has played a central role in the direct input factor and not in indirect role in Korea. Thus, it is necessary for public investment policies to concentrate on enhancing the efficiency of the Korean economy.

Recently, more firms have shown an interest in implementing knowledge management methods. However, few companies are capable of adopting knowledge management methods effectively to improve organizational performance because it is still unclear how these methods improve corporate performance. To find this relationship between knowledge management methods and organizational performance, this paper analyses effects of knowledge management methods on corporate performance empirically. 51 Korean firms are selected as a sample base for empirical tests. Knowledge management methods can be categorized into four styles; harmony, codification, personalization, and ignorance. For example, the emphasis of harmony style is on both knowledge reusability using information technologies and knowledge sharing through informal intimacy among employees. Corporate performance varies depending on styles. Harmony style is founded to be most effective for corporate performance. Personalization and codification styles don't show any difference. This outcome is in line with the general observation that both tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge are important for effective knowledge management.

In spite of IT performance can be achieved through the interaction of IT and organization, many previous study has been treated the introduction of the information system itself as a final outcome. But if it doesn't clear about understanding on IT performance, performance management is difficult and also it is impossible to produce the intended outcomes. This study investigates the improvement of the business performance of SMEs through IT investment, whether the investment process on business performance. Analytical methods that were used in previous studies were maintained and new model IO(Information Orientation) analysis was applied. Therefore, this study is meaningful to establish a new methodology, that is not attempted until now, for evaluating the performance of IT investment, and analysis relationship between IT investment and business performance.

This review focused on the pharmacological treatment of alcoholism, especially alcoholism-related mental disorder. The pharmacological agent for alcoholism can be divided into the following categories : anticraving agent, aversive agent, agent to treat acute alcohol withdrawal, agent to diminish drinking by treating associated psychiatric pathology, agent to induce sobriety in intoxicated individuals. Following trends are included in new trends of pharmacological treatment of alcoholism. What are precise conditions amenable to pharmacological intervention? ; How can psychosocial and behavioral intervention be integrated with pharmacotherapy to enhance treatment outcome? ; Is the concept of "matching" specific pharmacotherapy treatment to different aspect of alcoholism more efficacious than a more generalized medicational approach to treatment? One of the most important factors for alcoholics treatment is good and proper therapeutic relationship with patients and setting up individually specialized treatment program is also important.

This study is to examine the factors that influence the performances of service quality in university hospitals by investigating systematically the condition of service quality. A synthesis of the health care quality is conducted to identify physical quality, operating process quality, and human resources quality that relate to both the overall satisfaction and intention of revisit. Based on the proposed hypotheses, the relationships between the service quality factors and performance are examined using data collected from 167 patients in three hospitals, Korea. Reliability and validity tests are performed for examining its relationship with service quality in health care systems. Total eight independent variables with respect to three service quality levels and two dependent variables for performance are identified for relationships between service quality and performance in health care systems. The results provide health care managers with a managerial insight to the planning function of performance with service quality in health care systems as well as other operations (business, government, or other service organizations) systems. Implication of the study for theory, future studies, and practices are discussed.

With the change of diverse business environments, the need for the third party logistics(3PL) is strategically considered for securing core abilities of manufacturers' own business. Most manufacturers are willing to have Win-Win relationship with the 3PL companies, instead of working with 3PL companies only for the purpose of reducing costs of logistics. This study has intentions to analyze determination factors of the distribution partnership which influence manufacturing firms within Gyeongsangbuk-do province and effects of partnership which exert an favorable influences on their outcome. With regard to the determination factors, it is found that determination factors consists of shipping quality, crisis management and possession of resources. And for the effects, saving logistics cost, improvement in service quality and strengthening the distribution partnership are included. This study intends to suggest helpful guidelines to business managers who seek a solution for more efficient logistics service.

Recently, software distribution method, along with advent of era of Web 2.0, is rapidly evolving from ASP(Application Service Provider) method into SaaS(Soft as a Service) method due to development in concepts and technologies including SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) Web Service, On Demand and Component. Determining factor in market competitiveness of newly emerging SaaS business model will be analyzed by focusing on Group-Wares, POS(Point of Sale) System, CRM(Customer Relationship Management) and ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning), which are the most representative SaaS business models in Korea. It is anticipated that the outcome of analysis of determining factors for market competitiveness for each of the main SaaS Business Models acquired through questionnaire survey can be utilized as important benchmarking material in setting the direction of cultivating SaaS market by the government as well as new entries into SaaS market.

Since team performance has become one of the core factors for companies' success, companies are putting every effort to raise team productivity. In this vein, the purpose of this study was to examine the influence of team learning behavior upon team dynamic capabilities, team effectiveness, and to verify the mediating effect of team dynamic capabilities in corporations. 312 employees were randomly selected to participate in an questionnaire survey. The result has shown that the static correlation exists between team learning behavior, team dynamic capabilities, and team effectiveness. Team dynamic capabilities mediated the relationship between team learning behavior and team effectiveness. Based on the findings, the study implies that learning behaviors among team members should be supported in order to improve its outcome, and HR representatives must help to develop dynamic capabilities.
