This paper proposes an IPMC actuating system with a bio-mimetic function. EMG signals generated by an intended contraction of muscles in forearm are used for the actuation of the IPMC. To obtain higher actuation force of the IPMC, the single layered as thick as 800 [${\mu}$m] or multi-layered IPMC (Nafion) of which each layer can be as thick as 178 [${\mu}$m] are prepared. The experimental results using an implemented IPMC control system show a possibility and a usability of the bio-mimetic artificial muscle.

In this paper, a transfemoral prosthesis with a microprocessor controlled pneumatic knee developed at KOREC is presented. The resistance of the knee is changed automatically via a microprocessor as the amputee's gait speed changes, so that the prosthetic side of the amputee can follow the sound limb. Gait analysis has been conducted to evaluate the performance of the developed prosthesis and the improvement of the gait pattern including the gait symmetry was observed.
In this study, an experiments and numerical simulation of a three chamber pneumatic cylinder for an intelligent AK-knee prosthesis is performed. The cylinder has a variable orifice which can be controlled automatically through a microprocessor controller as needed while amputee gaits. In the experiment, the cylinder was driven by a cam whose trajectory of simulates the normal gait and axial forces of cylinder with different of orifice opening was measured. The numerical simulations was based on thermodynamic and fluid mechanical consideration. The experimental results and the numerical results were in good agreement.

Purpose : The purpose of present study was to determine effects of action observation training on upper limb function after stroke. Training was progressed to imitation and intensive training after observation to required action in ADL. Methods : Among the single case study was used to ABA design. pre base line(A) was only collected participant information without intervention in 5 times. action observation intervention(B) was carried out 10 times and 5 times to base lime(A) after intervention. Results : Results indicated that 10-second test, box and block test, manual function test was increased when compared action observation intervention(B) to pre base line(A). Conclusion : To stroke action observation training was evaluated gross manipulation, dexterity and upper limb function in related with ADL. action observation training benefits were maintained after intervention(B) and showed improvement on upper limb function of stroke.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the Stroke Rehabilitation Assessment of Movement (STREAM), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) in the acute stroke care setting. Twenty patients with their first stroke were evaluated using STREAM, BBS, and MBI initially and at 4 weeks. The data was analyzed using the independent t-test, paired t-test, and the Pearson product moment correlation analysis. The scores on the STREAM were strongly associated with the scores on both the BBS and MBI (with Pearson correlation coefficients ranging from .88 to .95), and there was significant improvement between the initial scores and those obtained four weeks later for STREAM, BBS, and MBI (p=.001, p=.001, p<.001). The results suggest that STREAM may be able to reflect functional recovery and to assess voluntary movement in patients who have suffered an acute stroke.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has been ongoing for more than 2 years. Many patients who recover from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection continue to have aftereffects such as dyspnea and fatigue, which may lead to functional decline. Therefore, the need for managing these symptoms using methods such as pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) has emerged. The purpose of this study was to report the effectiveness of PR in five patients with acute COVID-19. PR was performed in patients with persistent dyspnea and oxygen demand after COVID-19. All five patients were able to maintain an independent functional status before COVID-19. However, after acute COVID-19, they were unable to walk independently and needed assistance for activities of daily living due to dyspnea and fatigue. Therefore, they were referred to rehabilitation units, and PR was performed. The modified Medical Research Council dyspnea scale, maximal expiratory pressure (MEP), 6-minute walking test, forced vital capacity, and grip strength were assessed before and after PR, and the results were compared. After PR, the parameters improved, except for the MEP in one patient (patient 3) and the grip strength in another patient (patient 4). After PR, two out of five patients returned to work and the other three returned home. Therefore, we conclude that PR is necessary for patients with acute COVID-19 with activity limitations.

Pressure-induced decubitus is a serious disease among the elderly people. Interface pressure occluding vascular perfusion is known to be a cause of decubitus. Therefore, it is essential to quantify the relationship between vascular perfusion and interface pressure among the elderly people. Nine elderly normal people ($57.8{\pm}5.6\;years,\;63.3{\pm}7.0kg,\;1.68{\pm}0.05m$) were participated. Pressure was applied on the ischial tuberosity in the sitting posture from 0mmHg to 135mmHg as capillary vascular perfusion was recorded. The average interface pressure to occlude vascular perfusion under the ischial tuberosity is 120mmHg. Vascular perfusion values at the capillary occlusion is often lower than 60% of the vascular perfusion at 15mmHg. Higher sampling number is required to have more accurate results.
Objective To suggest rotation angles of fluoroscopy that can bypass the carotid sheath according to vertebral levels for cervical transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI). Methods Patients who underwent cervical spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from January 2009 to October 2017 were analyzed. In axial sections of cervical spine MRI, three angles to the vertical line (${\alpha}$, angle not to insult carotid sheath; ${\beta}$, angle for the conventional TFESI; ${\gamma}$, angle not to penetrate carotid artery) were measured. Results Alpha (${\alpha}$) angles tended to increase for upper cervical levels ($53.3^{\circ}$ in C6-7, $65.2^{\circ}$ in C5-6, $75.3^{\circ}$ in C4-5, $82.3^{\circ}$ in C3-4). Beta (${\beta}$) angles for conventional TFESI showed a constant value of $45^{\circ}$ to $47^{\circ}$ ($47.5^{\circ}$ in C6-7, $47.4^{\circ}$ in C5-6, $45.7^{\circ}$ in C4-5, $45.0^{\circ}$ in C3-4). Gamma (${\gamma}$) angles increased at higher cervical levels as did ${\alpha}$ angles ($25.2^{\circ}$ in C6-7, $33.6^{\circ}$ in C5-6, $43.0^{\circ}$ in C4-5, $56.2^{\circ}$ in C3-4). Conclusion The risk of causing injury by penetrating major vessels in the carotid sheath tends to increase at upper cervical levels. Therefore, prior to cervical TFESI, measuring the angle is necessary to avoid carotid vessels in the axial section of CT or MRI, thus contributing to a safer procedure.

Rehabilitation sports center is one of the sports center for the disabled that offers and operates programs to live with ordinary people through activities including various sports. This center must offer an environment that users be able to lead an sports activity by a removing physical and psychological obstacle. But most centers get in trouble using facilities that are so excessive or partly negative. Because, this center is offering a physical environment that absents correct comprehension of a standard plan and circulations of disabled. To takes part in physical exercise programs actively and encourages living sports activities, this study, will analyze circulations of disabled in accommodation and propose considerations at planning of rehabilitation sports center.
