Purpose: This study was to identify adolescents' smoking behavior and the status and need of smoking prevention education for adolescents. Method: The subjects were 375 students selected through convenient sampling from three middle schools and three high schools in Jeonbuk. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey and analyzed using SPSS 10.1. Result: The smoking rate was 20.8% and 83.7% the students experienced smoking prevention education. Students were educated by a special instructor (39.8%) or a health teacher (26.8%). Among the teaching methods, lecture was 69.4%, but some students (30.7%) wanted anti-smoking school. Among the students, 85.0% answered they want smoking prevention education and 46.7% said that it should be covered in regular curriculum. Conclusion: High interest and continuity are emphasized for the success of smoking prevention education. In addition, various teaching methods need to be developed including anti-smoking school, lectures, counselling and long term education program. Moreover, smoking prevention education programs need to be covered in regular curriculum.
Adequate nutrients intake and regular eating habit are so important for the students to develop physical and mental health, and they contribute significantly for the development of intellectual capacity. The intake of simple sugar contained in the processed foods is known to have been related not only with such physical problems as obesity and diabetes but also with hyperactivity during growing period. This study analysed the effects of carbohydrate processed snacks on the middle school students' emotional intelligence and intended to demonstrate the correlation and the influence of the foods. The subjects of this study were 476 the 1st grade middle school students sampled from two public middle schools of Gyeonggi Province, Korea. Questionnaire contained 47 questions including the kinds of sugar containing processed foods, the frequency of intake, the frequency of normal diet, and the emotional test. All data obtained in this study were processed by SAS 8.2 program. 77.9% of the students had snacks more than once a day and the favored foods were in the order of bread, cookies, fruit, milk and dairy products, flour foods, ramen and ice cream. Less of the sugar contained processed snacks consumed high emotional intelligence showed(p<0.001). And low intake of carbohydrate processed snacks linked with having more regular meals and the higher levels of emotional intelligence. There was no gender difference in consuming simple sugar containing processed foods, however, out of these foods, carbonated drinks, ramen and pizza affected significantly the emotional intelligence of the male students. It was found that sugar contained processed snacks affect the eating habits like meal skipping and the emotional intelligence. It is determined that the effects of carbohydrate processed snacks on emotional intelligence can not be denied.
Objectives: This study was designed to provide basic information for smoking prevention education for middle school students by examining their knowledge and attitudes toward smoking. Method: A survey was conducted in this study on 1.250 students from 12 middle schools in the six educational bureaus in the Busan region. Results from the preliminary survey showed that the reliability of the instruments for knowledge and attitudes toward smoking were 0.84 and 0.86. respectively. The data for this study were collected for 20 days from Dec. 1 to 20, 2000, and then statistically analyzed with the SAS program using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. and two-way ANOVA. Results: (1) The highest frequency of responses found that both male and female students did not smoke at all. Among 170 students who had experiences of smoking, 66.5% reported they tried smoking because of curiosity, and 38.2% reported they first smoked during the 2nd grade of middle school and 1.2% during 4th grade of primary school. (2) In scores on smoking knowledge, the item with the highest score in both male and female students was one that they had no smoking experiences et al. followed by smoking experiences in the past and experiences of regular smoking. (3) In scores on attitude toward smoking, both male and female students were scored as the highest at the item that they had no smoking experiences et all. followed by the item that they smoked in the past and that they experienced regular smoking. (4) There was no significant correlation between knowledge and attitude toward smoking among the whole subjects (r=0.09. P=0.00). With regard to regular smoking experiences among the male and female students at the 3rd grade of middle school. there was a relatively high correlation between knowledge and attitude toward smoking among them (r=0.57. P=0.00: r=0.56. P=0.01). Conclusion: Students who had never smoked or smoked only in the past need smoking prevention education consistently. Particularly, for those who were regular smokers, not only individualized but also organized in small size groups, they need an intensive educational program on the basis of counseling to reduce smoking and to put in practice smoking cessation.

In this paper, we propose an effective software education donation model for the social care class. The types of software education for elementary, middle, and high school for the social care class are in the order of after school classes, club activities, creative experiences, and regular classes. In elementary school students, it is effective to precede visual programming education based on block coding and to conduct curriculum convergence with SW and HW at the beginning, and high school students are carrying out text programming education like Python. Software education for social care class The contribution activity model can be classified into five types such as geographically difficult area, multicultural family areas, orphanage, reformatory, and basic livelihood security recipient. In addition, the survey results show that the students' interest in software education and their satisfaction are all very high at 96%. Effective software education for the social care class In the donation model, the lecturers consist of responsible professors, lecturers, and assistant instructors. Software training for the social care class is effective on a year-by-year basis, so that students can feel authenticity and trust. Software education contents focus on visual programming and physical computing education in elementary or middle school, and text programming and physical computing education in high school. It is necessary to construct a software education donor matching system that helps efficient management of software education donations by efficiently matching schools (consumers: elementary, middle, high school) and software education donors(suppliers).
Purpose: To investigate disaster safety education and the safety awareness of Korean high school students following the Sewol ferry incident. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 1022 high school students in Korea from September 7 to 26, 2015. The questionnaire comprised questions pertaining to the general characteristics of the subjects, disaster safety education, and safety awareness, which were measured on a four-point Likert. Results: The majority of the students recognized the necessity of disaster safety education ($3.12{\pm}0.61$); however, most did not know where safety devices were located. After the Sewol ferry incident, awareness of disaster safety education was $2.11{\pm}0.64$, and the necessity of education was relatively low. More than half the students (53.5%) responded that disaster safety education must be conducted in professional education facilities. Conclusion: It is important to develop and implement regular disaster safety education for high school students in professional education facilities.
Substance abuse among teenagers has been spreading widely and become a serious social problem. However, teachers hardly realize its importance. Recently, substance abuse prevention programs show a tendency towards one time education. This study aims to research the effect of substance abuse prevention on high school students using the Life Skills Training Program. Two classes(36 students in the experimental group, 35 in the control group) at W High School in Daejeon were randomly sampled for this study from May to June 2002. Substance knowledge and attitude, problem solving, and assertiveness were examined as Pre and Post-Tests. The data was analyzed using frequencies, t-test, means, and covariance(ANCOVA). The results of this study were as follows; 1. Compared with the control group, substance knowledge in the experimental group was significantly improved(F=176.317, P=.000). And compared with the control group, substance attitudes in the experimental group were improved significantly.(F=207.682, P=.000). 2. Compared with the control group, cognitions to problem solving in the experimental group was significantly improved(F=100.937, P=.000). 3. Compared with the control group, assertiveness behaviors in the experimental group were increased significantly(F=207.255, P=.000). The study showed that Substance Abuse Prevention of High School Students was effective in improving substance knowledge and attitude, cognition to problem solving, and assertiveness behavior. Some suggestions based on the result are as follows; 1. Substance abuse preventive programs must be practiced properly and systematically with high school students in their regular classes. 2. Various preventive education programs must be developed for substance abuse where high school students can join in a community center, such as Community Welfare Center, Alcoholic Counseling Center, and Mental Health Center. 3. For the furthering of substance abuse preventive education, there must be continued research about not only students with problems of substance misuse and abuse, but also students without them. 4. There must be early determination of students with problems of substance misuse to be able provide school social workers with the opportunity for intervention.
In this study, a survey was carried out on 300 students in Korea Culinary Arts Science High School located in Gyeonggi-do from August 1 to August 30, 2011 to figure out how the control of high school students' eating behavior affects the change of their psychological achievement. Analysis showed that attitude toward eating behavior, and perceived behavior that recognize this and act, as eating habits for control of their eating behavior, are the most control factors of eating behavior. It says that the right perception of customary attitude and the correction of habits according to the exposure and performance of repetitive eating behaviors are important. Consequently, an ordinarily regular norm as a social norm, or a rule around it won't act as big positive factors.
The purpose of this study is to design a more satisfactory and efficient teaching strategy for the gifted by comparing teaching type and learning environment preferred by the gifted with that preferred by normal students. As a result, the following findings are obtained. First, while the normal class students show higher preference for clarification and organization, gifted students prefer for diversification and specialization. Second, with the respect to the gender-related forms of mathematics classroom environment, the overall female preference and the average score are higher, indicating significant difference in the area is only a psychological domain. Third, compared to the regular classroom, the gifted have significantly different preference for teaching method, classroom and teachers' attitude between in the gifted class and regular class.
Objectives : The purpose of the study is to verify the correlation between teenagers' use of internet and temporomandibular joint disorders(TMJD) because TMJD patients gradually increase in high school students. Methods : Subjects were 221 male high school students attending liberal arts and commercial schools from 9 to 21 of April, 2012. Students completed self-reported questionnaire. Results : TMJD symptoms included crackling joint (32.1%), headache (18.6%), malocclusion (8.1%), and jaw fatigue and muscular aching (7.2%). Students having at least one symptom accounted for 49.8%. Students having at least one poor habit accounted for 83.7% and 34.0% of the students used internet for 3 hours.. Score of students experiencing shoulders and chest pain was $5.13{\pm}1.10$ (p<0.05). Score of TMD afflicting area revealed $4.67{\pm}2.73$ (p<0.05) in mastication pain ($4.13{\pm}2.73$ (p<0.05)) due to long hours of internet use. Score of jaw fatigue related to muscular pain was $4.31{\pm}1.96$ (p<0.01). Duration of computer use was related to perceived TMJD symptoms (r=.153). Long duration of computer use was related to poor oral cavity habits (r=.157). Conclusions : Male high school students can perceive slight TMD which needs self management and regular check-ups and try to prevent TMD by utilizing measurement tools on TMD. Also, this study helps to prevent from worsening TMD by shortening hours of computer utilization.
Health can be maintained and promoted by pursuing a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle implies keeping healthy habits such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, weight control, and stress management etc. The objectives of this study are: (1) To find out patterns in the lifestyle and health status of high school students. (2) To analyze the factors that affect a healthy lifestyle. (3) To compare the level of understanding of a healthy lifestyle and its practice between male students and female students. The study population wag 388 high school students. The data was analysed through a % total, a $X^2$ test, and a multiple classification analysis. The lifestyle assessment questionnaire was devided into ten sections. The results are as follows; (1) There was a positive correlation between health status and a healthy lifestyle. (2) There existed strong positive correlations between independent variables (age, group) and dependent variable (nutritional practices, physical activity, stress management, serve of purpose). (3) The level of understanding of a healthy lifestyle was not high for most of the students. Female students showed a higher understanding than male students in nutrition practice, while male students group showed a higher and under standing than female students for physical activity. The other result were similar in their practice of a healthy lifestyle. With all these above considerations, the level of understanding and practice of a healthy lifestyle in students was not higher than the adult group. Students should have more educational opportunities and take a more systematic education in practicing a healthy lifestyle.
