Population growth in Korea is slowing down, and the ratio of 1~2 person households has exceeded 53.3% of the total. And in the future, it is becoming more important how to accommodate as proper planning in residential areas. In this paper, we examine whether the existing district unit plans respond appropriately to the trend of the increase in small-sized housing, and we propose improvement plans for elements of the district unit plan and measures to enhance its applicability in response to small-sized housing. To do this, we analyzed the guidelines and contents of the district unit plans related to small-sized housing in recent 6 residential sites, and derived problems and improvements through literature review and expert consultation. As a result of the study, we proposed the items that need to be reflected in the district unit plan related to various housing type for one person household. And planning elements related to households, housing site, building layout, and architectural shape and appearance were also proposed, which were suitable for single-person households, such as small-sized communal housing, share-house, and single-person housing. It also suggested that single-person households should be considered for housing characteristics, including introduction of auxiliary welfare facilities such as unmanned delivery box and guest houses, and exclusion of low-demand auxiliary welfare facilities such as kindergartens. The suggested content can be used to make guidelines for small-sized housing in district unit plan.

Recently, Radon has been gotten attention for problems of Nuclear Generating Station and a variety of nuclear. It is naturally arises that is accumulated in the interior through the soil with radioactive materials. People exposed to indoor a Radon increase the high risks of lung cancer. The data are consisted of regional Country, The Location, Average Radon pCi/L, Geo Mean and Geo S.D etc. The research is experimented using E-M algorithm. The research result appears to make a division of soil distance, regional and cluster. It requires in effort to minimize exposure to people who live in areas with high radon levels. A country must apprise to people about Radon risk and needs to work out measures plan.

Opening 21th Century, all the Countries of the world has been focusing on build up the foundation of cultural infrastructure in a various way, since the awareness of importance for cultural design products has been turnover. For this reason, all the countries in the world, recognize that it is more important than any other things to plan to establish a structure which is suitable to the real conditions of a region in order to efficiently manage or operate their cultural environment, in particular, they think it is urgent they should contrive to develop their regional industries with new information media, introduction and spread of the up-to-date technique of design. However, our regional related industries very difficulty for the moment for them to apply new, designing technique or to settle technical bottlenecks themselves. Accordingly, in order to resolve such a structural point at issue, this study has carried the newly designed and developed, wooden, cultural craft items that were produced by utilizing the ultramodern digital technology installed at TIDIC, it would contribute to achieve some global cultural products.

The recent project has been progressed from focusing on the establishment of having an international sense and making a symbolic building in Cheju Island. Its purpose is to provide the best medical services to the inhabitants, and to reflect the local feelings and the entire design concept based upon the role of the health promotion. This study is to explain the process of a traditional architecture method of Cheju Island applied to the modern design element and re-composition into the layout plan, the composition diagram of the exterior, the elevations, etc. of the drawings of the project.

The National Nutrition Survey in Japan (NNS-J) started in 1945 and has provided information on dietary intake and health status of Japanese citizens to the public and policymakers for more than half a century. We summarized several relevant issues on the survey in this report : the current framework of the NNS-J in accordance with the Nutrition Improvement Law, utilization of the survey for nutrition and health policy in Japan, the Health Promotion Law recently enacted in 2003, the national plan for health promotion and disease prevention (Health Japan 21), and possible measures to improve the survey systems under the new law. We also mentioned implementation structures of regional health and nutrition surveys, because the Health Promotion Law designates an active role of local governments on promoting health for their citizens, which will enhance the needs for appropriate assessment of health and nutrition conditions in each community as well as the monitoring at the national level. The analysis of air quality model applied for EIA in Korea indicates that ISCST3 and CALINE3 dominate the model, and it causes the problem that regional and business characteristics are not taken into account. To solve this problem, it appears necessary to build guideline of the air quality model operation. First of all, to implement the above plan we need to categorize the site into simple and complex terrain, coast to consider regional characteristics, and the sources of pollutants into point/area/line as well. To make the procedure more efficient with reduced time and less cost, we are to apply screening model for prelimninary work of the suggested model.

This paper presents the effects and the regional power distribution of an increase or a decrease of a power reserve by load flow calculations under seasonal load patterns of each country for the future power shortages faced by the metropolitan areas or by the southeastern area of the South Korea in North-East Asia. In these connections, the types of a power transmission for interconnection consist of the 765kV HVAC and the HVDC. In this paper, the various cases of the power system interconnections in Far-East Asia are presented, and the resulting interconnected power systems are simulated by means of a power flow analysis performed with the PSS/E 28 version tool. The power flow map is drawn from data simulated and the comparative study is done. In this future, a power flow analysis will be considered to reflect the effects of seasonal power exchanges And the plan of assumed scenarios will be considered with maximum or minimum power exchanges during summer or winter in North-East Asia countries.

For formulation of the rational land us2 plan in regional base, it is a basic and prior condition to categorize total planning area into some functional subregions by purposely-selected indicators. As one of quantitive approaches to the areal categorization in rural area, Principal Component Analysis(PCA) was introduced and testified its applicability through a case study on Sunheungdistrict(called as myun in Korea) area, Youngpoong-county, Kyungbuk-province, Korea. Areal analysis by PCA was carried out on rurality and urbanity of parish-level area(ri in Korea) respectively. By use of PCA analysis results, classifying matrix was made through categorization of both index scores. Among 18 ri's of the case study area, 12 was classified as rural-dominated areas, 2 as urban- dominated areas, and reamaining 3 as intermediate areas.

Taking advantage of geographical position of Korea located on the main route of world-wide service, Port Logistics Industry can be strategic industry which secures international competitiveness necessary for Korea to be hub of Northeast Asian's logistics. Along with the advent of super large container vessel, world ports environment changed from "milkway" type, which means vessel calls every port for service to "Hub & Spoke" type, which means vessel calls regional central port and feeder service for the rest ports. As environment changes, regional ports in Northeast Asia are competing each other tougher and tougher and introducing or developing port logistics information system based on state-of-the-art technology in order to adapt themselves to new environment, thus to be Hub port. Taking this situation into consideration, we want to define clearly the meaning and scope of port logistics IT and review the global trend of port logistics IT. Finally we want to find future development of port logistics IT which we have to achieve.

PURPOSES: This study provides a methodology for estimating proper number of equipment for ordinary road management works. METHODS: Utilizing a computerized data of record systems (KAMIS) in 18 regional offices, two evaluation indicators were calculated and then normalized for objective comparison. Applied magnifying factor to the outputs, the proper number of equipment can be estimated. RESULTS: As a result, proper number of equipment by regional offices were required 28% more than current conditions. CONCLUSIONS: Using the proposed a methodology, fundamental data for scientific and reasonable strategies can be stored as well as be used for the future plan for budget allocation.
