  • With the evolution of containerization and globalization of supply chains, aspects of port functions have made the transition from the sea to the inland region that forms the dry port. To explore the relationship between dry ports and regional economic development, this study uses a gravity model and forecast model to analyze 1,040 observations in 104 cities (22 dry port cities) along the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) from 2008 to 2017. The model includes economic variables, logistics variables, foreign relations variables, and human capital variables. It was found that the dry port is positively correlated with trade volume. Compared with a city without a dry port, the trade volume of a city with a dry port will increase 0.099 times. It can be concluded that a dry port is crucial for the economic development of the YREB. It was also found that per capita GDP as an economic variable, road area and rail number as logistics variables, and foreign relation variables are positively correlated with trade volume, while the human capital variable has no significant effect on trade volume. In addition, governmental policy implications are addressed from the aspects of dry port and industry cluster caused by foreign investment.

  • The research aims to analyze the level of efficiency by grouping banks during the period 2017 - 2018 into category 1 and category 2 banks and then dividing them as Regional Development Banks (BPD) and Non-BPD Conventional Commercial Banks (BUK) within each category. The research objects are banks within the categories BPD and BUK comprised 18 BPDs and 35 BUKs. The research methodology uses 3 stages, first, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) we measure the level of bank efficiency; second, using the Tobit regression model we evaluate the effect of financial performance on DEA efficiency, and third, using the Mann-Whitney test we determine whether there is a difference in the efficiency of category 1 and 2 banks. The results showed that there was a decrease in the efficiency of category 1 and 2 banks but on average, the efficiency of category 1 banks is higher than category 2 banks. The estimation results of the Tobit regression model show that only the ROA variable affects the efficiency level of category 1 banks, while category 2 banks are influenced by NPL and ROA variables. In the Mann-Whitney test, it was proven that there were differences in efficiency between BUK and BPD in category 1 and 2 banks.

  • We analyze the regional ripple effects of both the sale prices and cheonsei prices using the global VAR(GVAR) model. The interest rate shock causes the regional sale prices to fall. Moreover, the greatest responses to the shock are those of Gangnam-gu, etc. because of there were many transactions for investment purpose. When interest rate rose, the cheonsei price in Gangnam-gu reacted greatly. Conversely, if interest rates fall, the cheonsei demand to live in Gangnam-gu increases. Furthermore, the response of sale price to the interest rate shock are greater than those of the cheonsei prices. Whereas, a positive shock on the sale price in Gangnam-gu increases the sale price there. It also raises the sale prices of the surrounding area in a similar pattern. The shock on the sale price in Gangnam-gu also increases the cheonsei price in Gangnam-gu. In addition, an increase in the sale price in Gangnam-gu leads to increases of cheonsei prices in other regions. Therefore, the recent rise of the base rate can negatively affect the sale prices, and thus a decrease in the sale price spreads to the surrounding areas. Accordingly, it is time for policy alternatives to make a soft landing in sale prices.

  • Innovations significantly affect the efficiency of the socioeconomic systems of the regions, acting as a system-forming element of their development. Modern models of economic development also consider innovation activity, intellectual potential, knowledge as the basic factors for stimulating the economic growth of the region. The purpose of the study is to develop methodological foundations for evaluating the effectiveness of a regional innovation system based on a multidimensional analysis of its effects. To further study the effectiveness of RIS, we have used one of the methods of multidimensional statistical analysis - canonical analysis. The next approach allows adding another important requirement to the methodological provision of evaluation of the level of innovation development of industries and regions, namely - the time factor, the formalization of which is realized in autoregressive dynamic economic and mathematical models and can be used in our research. Multidimensional Statistical Analysis for RIS effectiveness estimation was used to model RIS by typological regression. Based on it, multiple regression models were built in groups of regions with low and relatively high innovation potential. To solve the methodological problem of RIS research, we can also use the approach to the system as a "box" with inputs and outputs.

  • Objective: This study aimed to analyze the correlation between factors affecting health risk behaviors of rural residents according to regional scale. Methods: Restricted-access data from the 2016~2021 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and the multivariate probit model were used. As for health risk behaviors, smoking, drinking, lack of aerobic exercise, low level of healthy eating index, unvaccination, and non-participation in health examination were considered. Results: Controlling for individuals' socio-demographic characteristics, in general, correlation coefficients between unobservable factors affecting health risk behaviors were significant. However, the magnitude and statistical significance of the correlation coefficients varied by regional scale (dong/eup/myeon). This suggests that rural residents engage in health risk behaviors due to their different characteristics compared with urban dwellers, which also varies by whether residents are located in eup or myeon area. Conclusion: It is necessary to differentiate health care services between urban and rural areas in terms of type of service and programs based on the relationship between unobservable factors affecting each type of health risk behaviors.

  • To know the physical housing needs for the small/medium size apartments at 'Harea' in Ulsan, we took account ① which plans they prefer in the small/medium size apartments of 2 or 3 rooms, ②how to link the inner spaces, ③which optional setups are require, ④which finishing material. furniture.color they want and ⑤ which community facilities are necessary, and analysed the factors influencing above five. The result is that the residents showed no regional distiction on the plan preference and the linkage of inner spaces, but required the double entrance doors, bathroom setups reallocated and residents' common facilities.

  • This study is about the wedding culture of Seoul and Kyungsangdo. This paper is a qualitative study that is based on interviews. As a result of this study, it became clear that before the industrialization of South Korea, there were different characteristics of wedding culture in each region. However, the unique characteristics of wedding customs in each region have been degenerated or exterminated, in tandem with the influx of customs from other regions, due to the dramatic urbanization of South Korea, and the development of transport and communication that appeared in the process of modernization. Furthermore, wedding customs were transformed from ceremonies based on a regional and kin-based community into those that were no more than mere events, which was derived from the industrialization and urbanization of Korea.

  • The objective of the study is to know demographic characteristics mobility motivation housing aspiration and housing values of expected purchasers of the small/medium size apartments located at 'H-area' in Ulsan to enhance their level of housing satisfaction through better planning. The result shows that moving motivation housing aspiration and housing values differ as what size respective expected purchasers want. As a regional characteristic the reality-oriented view of housing is apparent in that their interests are focused on the setups or facilities after-service and maintenance and that they think conveniency more important than the edifices' appearance or beauty.

  • As the typical farming of the most Asian countries are of small and subsisting scale, the infrastructure is variable depending on the region and more complicated than in the industrialized countries. Except such basic statistics as acreage of farm land, farming population and production, there are no common standard methods to be used for indepth analysis on the farming status, the level of farming techniques, financial status of farming, consciousness of farmers and others. Therefore, it is necessary to develop survey models which can be commonly used to compare with different circumstances. The purpose of this report is to provide examples of survey models which are used to measure farming performances in Korea. Those are (1) Diagnosis and analysis on farming technique, labor utilization and farm income, (2) Management performance analysis, (3) Planning for farming, (4) Survey on the nutritional status of farming, (5) Survey on rural village status and planning regional agricultural development.
