Enhanced Region Partitioning Method of Non-perfect nested Loops with Non-uniform Dependences

  • This paper introduces region partitioning method of non-perfect nested loops with non-uniform dependences. This kind of loop normally can't be parallelized by existing parallelizing compilers and transformations. Even when parallelized in rare instances, the performance is very poor. Based on the Convex Hull theory which has adequate information to handle non-uniform dependences, this paper proposes an enhanced region partitioning method which divides the iteration space into minimum parallel regions where all the iterations inside each parallel region can be executed in parallel by using variable renaming after copying.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to find the active region of flame which is produced within the gap between an oxygen blown converter and a skirt. For real-time image processing, basic region segmentation algorithms such as thresholding and XORing are used to segment the active region of flame. The result of this processing may be useful to clear the relationship between hood pressure and flame.

A Study on the Confidence Region of the Stationary Point in a second Order Response Surface

  • When a response surface by a seconde order polynomial regression model, the stationary point is obtained by solving simultaneous linear equations. But the point is a function of random variables. We can find a confidence region for this point as Box and Hunter provided. However, the confidence region is often too large to be useful for the experiments, and it is necessary to augment additional design points in order to obtain a satisfactory confidence region for the stationary point. In this note, the author suggests a method how to augment design points "eficiently", and shows the change of the confidence region of the estimated stationary point in a response surface.e surface.

영남지방 지역 및 지대별 담배거세미나방과 파밤나방 성충의 발생소장 (Seasonal Occurrence of Tobacco Cutworm, Spodoptera litura Fabricius and Beet Armyworm, Spodoptera exigua Hübner Using Sex Pheromone Traps at Different Locations and Regions in Yeongnam District)

  • 영남지방의 지역 및 기후지대별 담배거세미나방과 파밤나방의 발생소장을 각각의 성페로몬을 이용하여 조사하였다. 경람지역에서 담배거세미나방은 3월 중하순부터 11월 중하순까지 발생하였다. 경북지역에서 담배거세미나방은 4월 중하순부터 11월 상중순까지 발생하였으나, 울진에선 5월 하순부터 10월 하순까지 발생하였다. 기후지대별 담배거세미나방의 발생최성기는 남부해안지대에서 9월 중순, 내륙지대 및 분지지대에서 8월 하순, 내륙산간지대에서 8월 중순, 그리고 동해안중부지대에서 9월 상순이었다. 담배거세미나방의 지역별 발생비율은 경남의 경우 진주에서 20.0%로 가장 높았으며, 창녕에서 8.6%로 가장 낮았고, 경북의 경우 성주에서 3.3%로 가장 높았으며, 울진에서 0.8%로 가장 낮았다. 기후지대별 발생비율은 내륙지대에서 43.7%로 가장 높았으며, 다음은 남부해안지대에서 36.3%, 분지지대에서 8.4%, 내륙산간지대에서 7.0%이었고, 동해안중부지대에서 4.6%로 가장 낮았다. 한편, 파밤나방은 경북의 동해안중부지대를 제외하곤 3월 상순부터 11월 중순까지 발생하였다. 포항, 영덕 및 울진의 동해안중부지대에서 파밤나방은 대체로 4월 중순부터 11월 중순까지 발생하였다. 기후지 대별 파밤나방의 발생최성기는 내륙지대, 분지지대 및 내륙산간지대에서 8월 상순, 남부해안지대 및 동해안중부지대에서 8월 하순이었다. 파밤나방의 지역별 발생비율은 경남의 경우 창녕에서 1.6%로 가장 높았으며, 부산에서 0.4%로 가장 낮았고, 경북의 경우 성주에서 37.2%로 가장 높았으며, 울진에서 2.7%로 가장 낮았다. 기후지대별 발생비율은 분지지대에서 약 54.3%로 가장 많았으며, 다음은 내륙산간지대에서 29.9%, 동해안중부지대에서 9.3%, 내륙지대에서 3.9%이었고, 남부해안지대에서 2.6%로 가장 낮았다. 따라서 담배거세미나방은 경남지방에서, 파밤나방은 경북지방에서 다발생 되었고, 기후지대별 담배거세미나방의 발생량은 경남의 내륙지대, 파밤나방의 발생량은 경북의 분지지대에서 가장 많았다. 영남지방에서 담배거세미나방의 발생량은 파밤나방보다 2.4배 많았으나, 최초 발생시기와 발생최성기는 담배거세 미나방보다 파밤나방이 약간 빨랐다.

치마버섯 Mating Locus(Y-region)의 비교분석에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Comparative Analysis of Mating Locus (Y-region) of Schizophyllum commune)

  • 북미산 S. commune UVMl-34의 A $\alpha$ 3 mating locus를 지니는 cosmid clone pSC13의 mating activity에 필요한 sequence 함유여부를 확인한 후 sequencing을 행하고 이에 대한 비교분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 blast program을 사용한 전체 nucleotide 염기서열의 homology비교분석에서 남미산 1-71에 패하여 약 96%의 높은 homology를 나타내었으며, 1-71 A $\alpha$ 3 mating locus에서 모두 7개로 추정되는 exon의 염기서열의 비교실험에서도 거의 96% 이상에 이르는 homology를 나타내었다. 부분적으로는 AR (acidic rich region)에서 약 97%, HD (homeodomain)에서는 약 99%, BR (basic rich region)에서 약 97%, 그리고 Ser (serine rich regon)에서 약 95%의 높은 homology를 나타내어 지역간에 유전자상의 큰 변화는 나타나지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 translated polypeptide sequence 를 이용하여 자생지가 다른 남미산 S. commune A $\alpha$ 3 mating locus 내의 Y-region은 비롯하여 다른 $A\alpha$ alleles내의 Y-region과 비교 분석한 결과 남미산에 대해 전체적으로 약 97%의 높은 homology를 나타내고 있지만 그 외 $A\alpha$ mating alllele gene의 Y-region과는 41~49%의 낮은 homology로 mating activity에 관여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 mating에 있어 transcription regulator로 알려진 homeodomain에서는 약 98%의 homology가 나타남으로서 Z-region의 74%에 비하여 대륙간에 상당히 높은 유전자 보존상이 확인되었다. 또한 AR에서 97%, BR에서 100% 그리고 Ser에서도 98%의 상당히 높은 homology를 지니는 사실을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과로 보아 남미와 북미에 자생하는 같은 mating allele type간에는 상당히 높은 비율의 염기서열 보존이 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 비록 다른 $A\alpha$ alleles간의 비교 이지만 다른 mating alleles간의 약 50% homology와 비교할 때 보다 상당히 높은 결과로 보인다. 특히 homeodomain motif의 비교에서 Y1을 비롯한 다른 mating allele gene과도 85% 이상의 높은 homology를 나타내었으며 그 외 AR, BR, Ser 부위에서는 10~50%에 이르는 낮은 비율로 나타났다.

Action Spectra of Apoptosis Induction and Reproductive Cell Death in L5178Y cells in UV-B Region

  • It is important to determine the action spectrum of UV-B radiation contained in the sunlight to estimate the risk of skin cancer. We have investigated action spectra for induction of apoptosis and reproductive cell death in L5178Y cells using the Okazaki Large Spectrograph at NIBB. L5178Y cells were exposed to light at different wavelengths in UV-B or UV-A region. Frequencies of apoptosis induction and reproductive cell death were determined by counting cells with chromatin condensation, and by the colony formation assay, respectively. The measured sensitivity spectra for the two end-points were in very good agreement. Sensitivity decreased steeply with increase of wavelength in UV-B region and remains nearly constant in UV-A region. The action spectra were also slightly steeper than that for the minimum erythematic dose (MED), but very similar to the light absorption spectrum of DNA in UV-B region. On the other hand, the spectra for both endpoints were similar to MED spectrum but not DNA spectrum in the UV-A region. Also different time-course and morphological difference of apoptosis were found between UV-B (long time, fragmentation) and UV-A (short time, shrinkage) region. These results suggest that DNA damage induced by UV-B light triggers apoptosis and reproductive cell death, but other damaged targets (membrane, protein and so on) trigger these effects in UV-A region.

흉추부의 협척혈(夾脊穴)및 아시혈(阿是穴)의 처치를 통한 견비통 치험 4례 (The Effects of Intervention on Thoracic Vertebral Region's Du mai(督脈) and Jia ji xue(夾脊穴) for Shoulder Pain ; 4 Clinical Case Report)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the effects of thoracic vertebral region's Du mai(督脈) and Jia ji xue(夾脊穴) intervention on active range of motion(ROM) restricted shoulder pain. Methods : 1. Measurement : The unpleasantness of pain was measured by visual analogue scale(VAS), and ROM was measured by using Goniometer and scratch test. 2. Intervention : Use Acupuncture and bee venom injection in thoracic vertebral region's Du mai(督脈) and Jia ji xue(夾脊穴) that display main tender points. Results : The pain and ROM were improved after thoracic vertebral region intervention. Conclusion : Thoracic vertebral region intervention was effective to active ROM restricted shoulder pain, to reduce the pain and to improve ROM. And this study shows that active ROM restricted shoulder pain and thoracic vertebral region's tender points are connected to each other. Also, region that suggest main tender points previews region of thoracic vertebrae 5-8.

Low Specific On-resistance SOI LDMOS Device with P+P-top Layer in the Drift Region

  • In this paper, a novel low specific on-resistance SOI LDMOS Device with P+P-top layer in the drift region is proposed and investigated using a two dimensional device simulator, MEDICI. The structure is characterized by a heavily-doped $P^+$ region which is connected to the P-top layer in the drift region. The $P^+$ region can modulates the surface electric field profile, increases the drift doping concentration and reduces the sensitivity of the breakdown voltage on the geometry parameters. Compared to the conventional D-RESURF device, a 25.8% decrease in specific on-resistance and a 48.2% increase in figure of merit can be obtained in the novel device. Furthermore, the novel $P^+P$-top device also present cost efficiency due to the fact that the $P^+$ region can be fabricated together with the P-type body contact region without any additional mask.

CO STUDY OF THE H II REGION SHARPLESS 301

  • The molecular cloud associated with the H II region S301 has been mapped in the J = 1-0 transitions of $^{12}CO$ and $^{13}CO$ using the 13.7 m radio telescope of Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. The cloud is elongated along the north-south direction with two strong emission components facing the H II region. Its total mass is $8.7 {\times} 10^3 M{\bigodot}$. We find a velocity gradient of the molecular gas near the interface with the optical H II region, which may be a signature of interaction between the molecular cloud and the H II region. Spectra of CO, CS, and HCO+ exhibit line splitting even in the densest part of the cloud and suggests the clumpy structure. The radio continuum maps show that the ionzed gas is distributed with some asymmetry and the eastern part of the H II region is obscured by the molecular cloud. We propose that the S301 H II region is at the late stage of the champagne phase, but the second generation of stars has not yet been formed in the postshock layer.

압력구배가 변하는 표면 위의 Bypass 천이 유동의 예측 (Prediction of Bypass Transition Flow on Surface with Changing Pressure Gradient)

  • A modified $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$model is proposed for calculation of transitional boundary-layer flows with changing pressure gradient. In order to develop the model for this problem, the flow is divided into three regions; pre-transition region, transition region and fully turbulent region. The effect of pressure gradient is taken into account in stream-wise intermittency factor, which bridges the eddy-viscosity models in the pre-transition region and the fully turbulent region. From intermittency data in various flows, Narashima's intermittency function, F(${\gamma}$), has been found to be proportional to $\chi$$^{n}$ according to the extent of pressure gradient. Three empirical correlations of intermittency factor being analyzed, the best one was chosen to calculate three benchmark cases of bypass transition flows with different free-stream turbulence intensity under arbitrary pressure gradient. It was found that the variations of skin friction and shape factor as well as the profiles of mean velocity in the transition region were very satisfactorily predicted.
