A Critical Reflection of the Historical Evolution of the Regime 87 (87년체제 역사적 진화과정의 비판적 성찰)

  • This paper aims to clarify the characteristics of 'the regime 87', the product of democratic transition of Korea in 1987, and its historical evolution. Through the clarification, this paper expects to provide a discoursive basis for reforming the regime 87 and advancing democracy in Korea. For this purpose, this paper seeks to find Korea within the context of macro-historical change of the world. And then this paper tries to analyze the reason and the process of the birth of the regime 87 and its historical evolution.

Physiological Response of Tetrapleura tetraptera (Schum. and Thonn.) Taub. to Soil Textural Class, Moisture and Light Intensity

  • Investigation was carried out on response of Tetrapleura tetraptera (Schum. and Thonn.) to soil, water and light with the view of its domestication and introduction to different ecological regions. The experiment was arranged in a factorial experiment of $3{\times}3{\times}3$ in a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replicates. The factors were: soil textural class (Loamy sand, Sand and Sandy clay loam), watering regime (daily, twice a week and once a week) and light intensity (100%, 75% and 50%). Soil textural classes had significant influence on collar diameter, stem height, number of leaflets, root/shoot ratio and relative growth rate of Tetrapleura seedlings. Seedlings grown on loamy sand recorded the highest mean value- 2.28 mm for collar diameter, stem height- 12.9 cm, number of leaflets- 19.9, chlorophyll b- $0.34mg\;mL^{-1}$, leaf relative water content- 27.4% and relative growth rate- $0.037mg\;g^{-1}\;day^{-1}$. Watering regime had significant influence on the collar diameter of Tetrapleura. Seedlings watered daily recorded the highest mean value- 2.25 mm for collar diameter. Light intensity significantly influenced collar diameter and root/shoot ratio. Seedlings exposed to 100% light intensity recorded higher mean value for collar diameter- 2.28 mm and root/shoot ratio- 1.481 cm. The interaction between soil textural class and light intensity significantly affected collar diameter, stem height and number of leaflets. Higher mean value for collar diameter (2.47 mm) stem height (13.25 cm) and number of leaflets (21.16) were recorded while the interaction between soil textural class, light intensity and watering regime was significant for only number of leaflets. Tetrapleura exhibited some level of tolerance to different soil texture, drought and light intensity. Therefore, Tetrapleura has the potentials to be raised in different ecological zones characterized by difference in soil, rainfall and amount of sunshine.

  • The International Seabed Authority (ISA) formally came into existence upon the entry into force of the UNCLOS on 16 November 1994. By adopting the Implementing Agreement in 1994, UNCLOS has the universality as a Magna Carta of International Ocean Regime, and the Deep Seabed Mining Regime could be operated as a unique one for the benefit of mankind. During last 10 years, ISA established the institutional framework successfully and made substantial and tangible progress in formulating the rules, regulations and procedures for the prospecting and exploration for polymetally nodules. Furthermore, RPI's obligations had been carried out completely, and the 7 RPI made contract with ISA to become a contractor who has an at least 15 you exclusive right for exploration in their allocated site. However, due to the uncertainty of commercial mining, the number of representatives from developing countries has been getting looser and looser and ISA has a problem of quorum of the Assembly. Land-based producers took a very strong opposite position to the contractors to make their loss in the minimum level. For the next decade, it might be prospected that ISA will focus on monitoring the contractor's activities, making rules, regulations and procedures for exploration on cobalt rich crust, sulphide and methane hydrate and implementing environment studies.

  • Experimental measurements of the heat flux to a upward impinging water jet on high heated test surface were obtained in the transition and film boiling regimes. Test variables were nozzle outlet velocity, subcooled water temperature and height of supplementary water. Boiling curve of this investigation is similar to a pool boiling curve, but it has one or two cap-shaped peaks in the transition regime. In the film boiling regime, the heat transfer rates are increased along with the increment of nozzle outlet velocity and subcooled temperature. There is optimum height of supplementary water for the augmentation of heat transfer Generalized correlations of boiling heat transfer are presented for maximum heat flux, minimum heat flux and $q_c$ at each supplementary height.

Adiabatic Demagnetization Cooling Technique (단숙 소자화 방법에 의한 냉동기술)

  • The adiabatic nuclear demagnetization cooling technique has reduced the lowest accessible temperature to the regime of microkelvin, and consequently led to a large expansion in microkelvin physics such as solid and liquid $^{3}He$, superconductivity of noble metals, spin glass transition, and nuclear magnetism. Our ability to reach temperature in microkelvin regime has greatly facilitated by the developments of dilution refrigerator and superconductivity magnet. It is appropriate to divide nuclear demagnetization cooling into two categories; those in which only the nuclear spin system is cooled down and those in which the lattice and conduction electrons in the refrigerant or the specimen are also cooled by the cooling power of nuclear spin system. The former cooling technique has utilized to investigate the nuclear magnetism at temperature in nanokelvin regime. The latter is widely used in studying the phenomena occurring in microkelvin regime. In this review paper, we will discuss the basic principles of nuclear demagnetization cooling and its applications. Contextual Understanding of North Korea Nuclear Problem (북한 핵의 맥락적 이해)

  • This article aims for searching the clue of North Korea nuke-problem by understanding it contextually. We must see this from the beginning as many trials in settling the problem have failed. North Korea nuke-problem is related to the change of international implication as well as the domestic process of its development. At first, it started from the regime survival, which evolved with the effect of learning. During the Cold War, its development had combined the principle of 'self-defense' because of Sino-Russia conflict. Particularly, its meaning varied dramatically due to the collapse of Cold War system plus the advent of post-Cold War system. North Korea nuclear program has became a global problem based on the deterioration of North Korea's security milieu and Bush administration's policy. Therefore, the area of common solution for NK nuke-problem must be found in the context of regime survival and the change of its meaning by continual convergence effort.

High prandtl number natural convection in a low-aspect ratio rectangular enclosure (종횡비 가 낮은 직각밀폐용기내 의 Prandtl 수 가 큰 유체 의 자연대류 에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Experimental investigation was carried out to study the natural convection of water and silicon oil due to end temperature differences in a horizontally insulated rectangular enclosure of aspect ratio 0.1 with a special attention on the core configuration in the laminar boundary-layer flow regime. Rayleigh number ranges covered herein are Ra=4.40 * 10$^{6}$ -9.64 * 10$^{7}$ for water and Ra=1.69*10$^{5}$ -3.80*10$^{6}$ for silicon oil, respectively. In the case of water, for Ra.geq.2.21 * 10$^{7}$ there appeared distinct horizontal thermal layers adjacent to the horizontal boundaries in the core and the temperature distribution outside the horizontal thermal layers, i.e., in the mid-core region, is vertically stratified. The core flow pattern was shown to be nonparallel with a weak back flow in the mid-core for Ra.geq.3.63 *10$^{7}$ . In the case of silicon oil, distinct horizontal thermal layers appeared along the core horizontal boundaries for Ra.geq.1.27 * 10$^{6}$ with a stratified temperature distribution in the mid-core, but the core flow pattern in this case was shown to be parallel. In addition, secondary flow appeared near the hot wall for Ra.geq.3.80 * 10$^{6}$ . Nusselt number, Nu, was found to be proportional to R $a^{0.3}$ for water and R $a^{0.28}$ for silicon oil in the boundary-layer flow regime. There also in an indication from the comparison with other results that Nu is independent of aspect ratio for water in the boundary-layer flow regime in low aspect ratio enclosures.res.

Electrical Conductivity Characteristics of Stabilized Zirconia added with Titania ($TiO_2$를 첨가한 안정화 지르코니아의 전기전도특성)

  • The microstructure and electrical conductivity characteristics were examined for the Yttria Stablized Zirconia that were added Titania with the concentration of 0.02wt%, 0.05wt% and 0.1wt%. The stabilized cubic phase had not been changed. The obtained density of the sintered body was higher than 97% of the theoretical density as the grain growth and proe removal. And the highest density of 5.91g/cm**3 was obtained for 0.02wt% addition of TiO2. When 0.02 wt% TiO2 was added to YSZ, the electrical conductivity was 0.293.(\ulcorner.cm)**-1 and the limit of electrolyte regime Pn was 4x10**-28 atm. at 1, 100\ulcorner, respectively. Those were improved value compared with the electrical conductivity 0.107 (\ulcorner.cm)**-1 and Pn 1.5x10**-27atm. without adding TiO2.

Numerical Study of Passive Control with Slotted Blading in Highly Loaded Compressor Cascade at Low Mach Number

  • With the aim to increase blade loadings and stable operating range in highly loaded compressors, this article has been conducted to explore, through a numerical parametric study, the potential of passive control using slotted bladings in cascade configurations. The objective of this numerical investigation is to analyze the influence of location, width and slope of the slots and therefore identify the optimal configuration. The approach is based on two dimensional cascade geometry, low speed regime, steady state and turbulent RANS model. The results show the efficiency of this passive technique to delay separation and enhance aerodynamic performances of the compressor cascade. A maximum of 28.3% reduction in loss coefficient have been reached, the flow turning is increased with approximately $5^0$ and high loading over a wide range of angle of attack have been obtained for the optimized control parameter.
