  • The reliability qualification test is essential in order to ensure the life time of the product under the normal operation conditions when a new product is developed. The reliability qualification test period has an important impact on the development time of new product. Therefore, some researches to reduce the test time of reliability qualification test have been actively studied. Generally, accelerated life test is well known as one method that can save the test time of the reliability qualification test. This test is conducted under the higher stress condition than normal condition. So we need to investigate what factor affects to the higher stress condition. This paper shows the relationship between the acceleration factor and reliability qualification test period. Especially, we focused on the method to obtain effective acceleration factors under the high temperature condition. Through some experiments for a refrigerator's compressor, we were able to confirm how to increase acceleration factors and how to reduce the reliability qualification test period with minimum samples.

  • This paper studies the improvement of a pre-processing line for waste refrigerators in a metropolitan recycling center(MRC). We performed ARENA modeling and simulation by using work analysis and time measurement on the current processing line. Combined this result with some practical experiences from workers, we generated 3 alternatives to improve the current line and evaluated them by using ARENA simulation. The final decision selected consists of changing 2-line process into 1-line and having a separate cell-line for collecting refrigerant. Currently, the result of this study was applied to MRC by improving cycle time, throughput, and space utilization compared to the previous one.

  • Recently, as the population rapidly increases, food shortages and waste are emerging serious problem. In order to solve this problem, various countries and enterprises are trying research and product development such as a study of consumers' purchasing patterns of food and a development of smart refrigerator using IoT technology. However, the smart refrigerators which currently sold have high price issue and another waste due to malfunction and breakage by complicated configurations. In this paper, we proposed a low-cost smart refrigerator system based on IoT for solving the problem and efficient management of ingredients. The system recognizes and registers ingredients through QR code, image recognition, and speech recognition, and can provide various services of the smart refrigerator. In order to improve an accuracy of image recognition, we used a model using a deep learning algorithm and proved that it is possible to register ingredients accurately.

  • In the past, what we call "fashion" was monopolized by only a small highly privileged group of individuals. To-day, we know that fashion field has become progressive democratization of taste not only in clothing, but in all expressions of contemporary living, from automobiles to refrigerators. So, we can find out how wonderful it is that our recent fashionable history was changed so fast. Whatever highly characteristic costume may be in the former, the way people dress was the reflection of their contemporary lives as well as their political status, economics, cultures, arts religions, so that a history of fashion is a history of life. Now, that categorical silhouettes make an exclusion across centuries of past history into the world of aesthetics, particularizes following ; symbolic voluminous toga of Roman authority, the religious but gorgeous Byzantine tunic, extravagant vertical bell-skirt of the Renaissance, the romantic Rococo style, the elegant crinoline and the bustle of the Cul de Paris of the nineteenth. It came true that women was intoxicated ostentations and elegances, since they had on ornamently costume which bear some relationship to the more formal Co-stesy, till the beginning of the twentieth. As Jonney Ironside said, "Nowadays, those exessive ornamentations and cumbersome design hardly belong to a civilization run by machines and in a hurry". These were once a sign of wealth and class ; at the beginning of the twentieth it was disappearing step by step. What is the reason\ulcorner At the end of the nineteenth, the emancipation of women, the movement of the Art Nouveau and the opening of the ready-made, have influenced on modern style, directly or indirectly. Finally, democratically popular costume was caused by fighting against the masculine prejudice excluded them from activities.hem from activities.

  • A survey was implemented to suggest basic data for assuring the safety of cooked foods in foodbank operations. A questionnaire consisted of total 48 items including general characteristics, basic inputs and perceived importance/performance of sanitary management. One hundred twenty-eight responses among the 267 nationwide foodbanks were used for the statistical analysis. About forty-one percent of foodbanks was operated a period of 1-3 years and 43.0% of them were managed by social welfare organizations. The number of staff was only 0.5 person per operation with the whole responsibility and 1.0 with additional work, and thus most of the work was managed by volunteers. Job satisfaction was shown to be moderate and was affected by specialty and salary mostly. The facilities and equipment in foodbanks were not enough to operate and freezers/refrigerators were the top priority to supplement. Most of the respondents attended a nationwide level sanitary education program (79.7%); but complained not enough frequency of education (90%). The sanitary status of the donated foods was considered as satisfactory but some safety practices had to be improved, including personnel expenses and operating costs in the district level, a sanitary awareness of the donors and a general management of the facilities arid equipment. An assessment on sanitary management resulted in an overall average of 4.45 out of 5 points in importance and 3.85 in performance showing the high level of sanitation perception in foodbank managers. From the IPA analysis, the fields found to be improved were sanitation management during cooking and temperature control as well as cleanliness and sanitation of both transport vehicle and refrigerator/freezer. To secure the food safety in foodbanks, consequently, personnel support, supplement of facilities and equipment, intense sanitation education and development of sanitation management program is needed.

  • Currently, polyurethane (PU) foam is used in most refrigerators as a thermal insulator, whereby the material contributes to structural stiffness by joining the refrigerator cases; however, refrigerator PU foam induces a low thermal efficiency and results in environmental contamination. To resolve these issues, we applied the vacuum insulated panel (VIP) instead of PU form in the design of a new refrigerator type, whereby the VIP significantly contributes to the rectification of the previously mentioned issues. The VIP structure, however, cannot effectively hold refrigerator cases, so the present study investigated a new frame-structure concept by evaluating the stiffness using the topology optimization of refrigerator cases. Lastly, a refrigerator prototype comprising an optimal frame structure was built and subject to a stiffness test, and a comparison of the test results with those of a conventional refrigerator show that the structural stiffness of the prototype is sufficiently effective.

  • Home appliances, like air-conditionals, washers, refrigerators, etc., can cause voltage fluctuations and light flicker. A standardized flicker test has been established in Europe(IEC 61000-3-3, IEC 61000-3-11). The supply impedance of power supply system varies from plate to place, and for the flicker test in KOREA, the appliance manufacturers do need standardized impedance like the one indicated in IEC 61000-3-3 for 230[V]/50[Hz]. Without it, the same appliance will have different flicker level at different places. For appliance manufacturers, the flicker limit should be related to the reference impedance. However, the European flicker test is designed for 230[V]/50[Hz] power and needs to be modified for a 1P2W(220[V]/60[Hz]) supply system in KOREA. In this paper, the reference impedance for KOREA(220[V]/60[Hz]) systems is proposed. The measured result provided in this paper was served as a proposal for establishing KOREA reference impedance for 220[V]/60[Hz] and has been published in IEC 60725.

  • Generally accelerated life test is well known as one method to reduce reliability qualification test period. This test is conducted under the higher stress condition than normal condition. So it can save the test time by calculating the acceleration factor from the relationship between the worst stress condition and normal condition. This paper investigates the worst stress condition for the accelerated life test to increase the acceleration factor. Especially, we focused on the method to obtain effective acceleration factors under the worst stress condition. Moreover, we considered how to decide the worst stress condition by looking for the operating limit of this system. The acceleration factor can be estimated from the ratio of the kinematic viscosity in the normal condition and the worst stress condition, the lowest temperature, by using Arrhenius relationship. Through some experiments for a refrigerator's compressor, we were able to confirm how to increase acceleration factors and how to reduce the reliability qualification test period with minimum samples.

  • C compilers for 8-bit MCUs used in washing machines and refrigerators often do not follow the C standard to improve runtime performance. Developers who are unaware of the difference between C compilers following the C standard and the C compilers for 8-bit MCU can cause bugs that do not appear in the standard C environment but appear in the embedded systems using 8-bit MCUs. It is difficult for bug detectors that assume the standard C environment to detect such bugs. In this paper, we introduce integer promotion bugs caused by the different integer promotion rules of the C compilers for 8-bit MCU from the C standard and propose 5 bug patterns where the integer promotion bugs occur. We have developed an integer promotion bug detection tool and applied it to the washing machine control software developed by the LG electronics. The integer promotion bug detection tool successfully detected 27 integer promotion bugs in the washing machine control software.
