Wide-Beam Circularly Polarized Crossed Scythe-Shaped Dipoles for Global Navigation Satellite Systems

  • This paper describes composite cavity-backed crossed scythe-shaped dipoles with wide-beam circularly polarized (CP) radiation for use in Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Each branch of the dipole arm contains a meander line, with the end shaped like a scythe to achieve a significant reduction in the size of the radiator. For dual-band operation, each dipole arm is divided into two branches of different lengths. The dipoles are crossed through a $90^{\circ}$ phase delay line of a vacant-quarter printed ring to achieve CP radiation. The crossed dipoles are incorporated with a cavity-backed reflector to make the CP radiation unidirectional and to improve the CP radiation beamwidth. The proposed antennas have broad impedance matching and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidths, as well as right-hand CP radiation with a wide-beamwidth and high front-to-back ratio.

전방향으로 발광하는 LED Bulb를 위한 2차 광학계 설계 (Secondary Optical System Design for Omnidirectional LED Bulb)

  • Secondary optical system designed for LED bulb which emits light in all directions was simulated with Energy Star standards. Components of the optical system were LED light source, the cover of the LED bulb and reflector which is to confirm the diffuser plate and LightTools software was used to design the illumination optics. The main points of the secondary optical system design are the location of the LED light source, the shape of the LED bulb cover, the location of the reflection plate, and the scattering properties of the diffusing plate. Mechanism of the LED bulb is that the light emitted from the light source move on to the backward after reflected by the coated light cover from the inside and then the reflected light is scattered by the diffuser plate. The LED bulb was designed to satisfy the standard light distribution and color specifications of the Energy Star(IES LM-79-08).

Vacuum-Bridgman법에 의한 UV grade 형석$(CaF_2)$단결정 성장 ($CaF_2$ single crystals growth for UV grade by vacuum-Bridgman method)

  • 대구경(직경 4inch이상) $CaF_2$ 단결정성장을 위하여 vacuum-Bridgman 장치를 구성하였으며, 성장속도 2mm/hr, 성장온도구배 $12^{\circ}C$/cm의 조건하에서 성장한 $CaF_2$ 단결정은 우수한 물성을 갖는 것으로 분석되었다. 우산형(umbrella shape)의 Mo thermal reflector를 사용한 경우에 polycrystalline으로의 성장을 제거할 수 있었다. 성장우선방위는 (111)면이었으며, 분말 XRD법에 의한 peak로부터 $5.460\AA$의 격자상수를 구하였다. 또한 XRD분석에 의하면 제2상은 형성되지 않았으며, EPD값은 $1.4{\times}10^4 \textrm{cm}^{-2}$이었다. 성장된 결정은 UV영역의 광학부품용도로 사용하기에 적합한 투과율 91%이상의 특성을 나타내었다.

LED의 광효율 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design for Optical Efficiency of LED)

  • In this paper, it was attempted to analyze the optimal design of light emitting diode (LED), a source of back light unit (BLU). LED is beginning with commercialized red LED which is made by GaAsP compound semiconductor, and has been developed focusing on liquid crystal panel. In order to get the optimal design, optical simulation was made by analyzing luminosity shape, reflector angle, chip depth, and chip position of LED lighting. Final results show that the proposed LED characteristics were useful to increase light efficiency and it has been proven by distribution chart for actual exposed light on the light guide panel (LGP).

  • The thermal performance of air receiver with a change of flow direction for dish solar collector. This system is installed and operated in Incheon, Korea. The thermal capacity of the system is about 5 kW thermal. The aperture diameter of the cylindrical-shape receiver which is made of stainless steel is 100 mm, and the height is 210 mm. Experiments are being carried out to investigate the thermal performance variation of the receivers with several design parameters such as the shape of the receiver, the flow directions and the flow rate of air. First, air flows into the upper part of the receiver, which is the opposite side of the aperture. After the air flows through the inside receiver, that goes out of the receiver through 3 exits which are located near the aperture. Second, air flows into the backside of the receiver, Which is the forward side of the aperture. After the air flows through the inside receiver, that goes out of the receiver through 1 exit. The results show that the system efficiency and receiver efficiency increase as the volume flow rate increases as expected.

촉매 화학 기상 증착법의 제조 조건에 따른 탄소 나노튜브의 특성 (Characteristics of Carbon Nanotube with Synthetic Conditions in Catalytic Chemical Vapor Deposition)

  • Carbon nanotubes were synthesized at various conditions using Ni-catalytic thermal chemical vapor deposition method and their characteristic properties were investigated by SEM, TEM and Raman spectroscopy. Carbon nanotubes were formed on very fine Ni-catalytic particles. The carbon nanotubes synthesized by thermal decomposition of acetylene at $700^{\circ}C$ had a coiled shape, while those synthesized at $850^{\circ}C$ showed a curved and Y-shape having a bamboo-like morphology. It was found that the carbon nanotube was also made on the fine Ni-catalytic particles formed on the surface of 100~400nm sized large ones after pretreatment with $NH_3$.ber composites show the high dielectric constant and large conduction loss which is increased with anisotropy of fiber arrangement. It is, therefore, proposed that the glass and carbon fiber composites can be used as the impedance transformer (surface layer) and microwave reflector, respectively. By inserting the foam core or honeycomb core (which can be treated as an air layer) between glass and carbon fiber composites, microwave absorption above 10 dB (90% absorbance) in 4-12 GHz can be obtained. The proposed fiber composites laminates with sandwitch structure have high potential as lightweight and high strength microwave absorbers.

Wide-fan-angle Flat-top Linear Laser Beam Generated by Long-pitch Diffraction Gratings

  • We demonstrated a wide-fan-angle flat-top irradiance pattern with a very narrow linewidth by using an aspheric lens and a long-pitch reflective diffraction grating. First, we numerically designed a diffraction-based linear beam homogenizer. The structure of the Al diffraction grating with an isosceles triangular shape was optimized with 0.1-mm pitch, 35.5° slope angle, and 0.02-mm radius of the rounding top. According to the numerical results, the linear uniformity of the irradiance was more sensitive to the working distance than to the shape of the Al grating. The designed Al grating reflector was fabricated by using a conventional mold injection and an Al coating process. A uniform linear irradiance of 405-nm laser diode with a 100-mm flat-top length and 0.176-mm linewidth was experimentally demonstrated at 140-mm working distance. We believe that our proposed linear beam homogenizer can be used in various potential applications at a precise inspection system such as three-dimensional morphology scanner with line lasers.

연소실 직접분사식 성층급기 가솔린기관 개발에 관한 연구 - 연료분사압력과 부하변동에 따른 연소특성 해석 - (A Study on Stratified Charge GDI Engine Development - Combustion Analysis according to the Variations of Injection Pressure and Load -)

  • In general, DI gasoline engine has the advantages of higher power output, higher thermal efficiency, higher EGR tolerance and lower emissions due to the operation characteristics of increased volumetric efficiency, compression ratio and ultra-lean combustion scheme. In order to apply the concept of stratified charge into direct injection gasoline engine, some kinds of methodologies have been adapted in various papers. In this study, a reflector was adapted around the injector nozzle to apply the concept of stratified charge combustion which leads the air-fuel mixture to be rich near spark plug. Therefore, the mixture near the spark plug is locally rich to ignite while the lean mixture is wholly introduced into the combustion chamber. The characteristics of combustion is analyzed with the variations of fuel injection pressure and load in a stratified -charge direct injection single cylinder gasoline engine. The obtained results are summarized as follows ; 1. The MBT spark timing approached to TDC with the increase of load on account of the increase of evaporation energy, but has little relation with fuel injection pressure. 2. The stratification effects are apparent with the increase of injection pressure. It is considered by the development of secondary diffusive combustion and the increase of heat release of same region, but proceed rapidly than diesel engine. Especially, in the case of high pressure injection (l70bar) and high load (3.0kgf m), the diffusive combustion parts are developed excessively and results in the decrease of peak pressure than in the case of middle load. 3. The index of engine stability, COVimep value, is drastically decreased with the increase of load. 4. To get better performance of DI gasoline engine development, staged optimizaion must be needed such as injection pressure, reflector, intake swirl, injection timing, chamber shape, ignition system and so on. In this study, the I50bar injection pressure is appeared as the optimum.

IDT형의 전극 형태가 SFIT형 필터의 특성에 미치는 영향 (The effects of the shape of IDT electrode pair on the characteristics of SFIT filter)

  • 반사기 형태에 따른 경사진 빗살무늬 변환기 SAW 필터 특성을 비교하기 위해 모의실험을 통해 Langasite 기판위에 전극을 형성시켰으며, 전극재료로는 Al-Cu를 사용하였다. 모의실험을 바탕으로 입력단에는 IDT를 직렬형태로 연결시킨 block 형태로 하중을 가하는 전극 방법을 쓰고 출력단은 withdrawal 형태로 하중을 가하는 방법을 써서 제작하였다. 이를 바탕으로 광대역의 SAW 필터 전극 설계 방식에 대한 적절한 위상조건도 얻고자 시도하였다. Langasite 기판위에 형성시킨 입 출력빗살무늬 변환기 전극수는 50쌍, 두께는$5000{\AA}$으로 하였으며, 반사기 폭과 간격은 각각 $3.6{\mu}m$$2.0{\mu}m$으로 하였다. 제작한필터의 주파수 특성은 중심주파수가 대략 190MHz정도, 대역폭은 8.0MHz 정도로 측정되었으며, matching 후 return-loss는 -16dB 이하이고, 리플 특성은 4dB 정도이며, 반사에 의한 잔향은 -20dB 이하로 측정되었다.

가상 3D 그래픽을 이용한 집속형 초음파 탐촉자 성능평가 방법 (New Performance Evaluation Method of Focused Ultrasonic Transducers By Using Virtual 3D Graphic)

  • 초음파 의료 영상기기나 산업용 초음파 검사 시스템의 성능은 초음파 탐촉자의 성능에 의해 크게 좌우된다. 탐촉자의 성능 특성 정보는 보통 제작자가 제공하는 반사원의 초음파 R/F 신호와 주파수 특성에 의해 기술된다. 그러나 집속형 초음파 탐촉자의 경우, 두 자료로는 선명한 C-Scan 이미지를 얻을 수 있다는 것을 보증할 수는 없다. 그래서 집속형 초음파 탐촉자의 성능 평가를 위한 새로운 척도로 상대 초점크기 및 상대 유효초점영역의 모양을 제안한다. 상대 초점의 크기와 상대 유효초점영역의 모양은 쇠구슬로부터 획득된 초음파 R/F 신호를 가상 3차원 영상 복원 프로그램으로 처리하여 얻는다. 제시된 방법은 기존 자료로는 알 수 없었던 탐촉자 성능을 정확히 평가할 수 있었으며, 방법도 간단하여 실제 탐촉자 제작시 불/양품을 쉽게 가려 낼 수 있으며, 탐촉자 경년열화에 따른 성능 저하도 검출할 수 있는 장점을 갖는다. 결과적으로 초음파 영상기기나 산업용 초음파 검사 시스템의 성능을 담보할 수 있다.
