  • Recently, DDoS amplification attacks using servers that provide Microsoft Active Directory information using CLDAP protocol are increasing. Because CLDAP is an open standard application that allows a wide range of directory information to be accessed and maintained in a network, the server is characterized by its openness to the Internet. This can be exploited by the Reflector server to perform an amplification attack by an attacker. In addition, this attack can be attacked with a packet that is amplified 70 times more than the conventional UDP-based flooding attack, and it can block service to small and medium sized server. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm that can reduce the DDoS amplification attack using CLDAP server and implement the corresponding CLDAP server environment virtually, and implement and demonstrate the corresponding algorithm. This provides a way to ensure the availability of the server.

  • This paper proposes the distributed virtual environment framework for collaboration between heterogeneous platforms. The proposed system consists of Client, Content Server(CS), and Reflector Server(RS). The Client is composed of VR library(VRL), Interaction Manager(IM), Distributed Interaction Manager(DIM), and Network Interface(NI). The proposed Client structure can support various display environments. The XML-based IM and DIM lets the users define and add the interactions. The proposed Server structure synchronizes the distributed interaction between heterogeneous platforms and provides transparency to the users. Therefore, the proposed framework enables the users to implement virtual collaboration environment for their tasks. Moreover, it can also be used for research and development activities between a large number of the remote users. The usefulness of the framework was verified by applying it to the virtual heritage tour system.

  • A Distributed reflection denial of service (DRDoS) is a variant of DDoS attacks that threatens the availability of services to legitimate users. In response to this evolving threat landscape, the cybersecurity industry and service providers have intensified their efforts to develop effective countermeasures. Despite these efforts, attackers continue to innovate, developing new strategies and tools while becoming more sophisticated. Consequently, DRDoS attacks continue to be harmful. Therefore, ongoing research and development is essential to improve defense against DRDoS attacks. To advance our understanding and analysis of DRDoS attacks, this study examines the unique characteristics of DRDoS attacks and quantifies the risks involved. Additionally, it adopts a quantitative rather than traditional qualitative methods to derive and apply risk, particularly the probability of loss that can be caused by DRDoS attacks.

  • Recently, the DDoS attack using the amplifier method makes it difficult to distinguish the normal traffic from the normal server and it is difficult to detect even the attack detection. Since the SSDP protocol is a common protocol widely used in IoT devices, it is used as a DDoS amplification attack. In this paper, we analyze the reflector attack of SSDP which is one of the DDoS and suggest a technical proposal to detect and defend against the attack by managing the Mac address of each device. Also, we propose a control structure to protect the reflection attack of SSDP in Home IoT. The efficiency of the proposed system has been verified by performing an experimental attack on the virtual environment.
