  • This paper describes the implementation of DCS communication network that provides high bandwidth and reliability. The network for DCS in this paper adopts the Reflective Memory (RM) architecture and Fast Ethernet physical media that have 100Mbps bandwidth. Also, this network uses Ring Enhancement Device (RED) which was invented to reduce the time delay of each node. The DCS network that is introduced in this paper is named as ERCNet(Ethernet based Real-time Control Network). This paper describes the architecture and working algorithms of ERCNet and performs numerical analysis. In addition, the performance of ERCNet is evaluated by experiment using the developed ERCNet network.

  • Optical conditions of a reflective multicolor STM-LCD based on the electrical control of birefrignece are analyzed on the CIE chromaticity diagram. The luminance and the area of the locus on the cIE chromaticity diagram are the two factors to be considered in the design of an LC cell to display white, red, green, and blue. The characteristics of a test cell agrees well with numerical simulation. A completed 320$\times$240 module is addressed by a designed PWM driving circuit.

  • This work studies a variable optical attenuator using a reflective type liquid crystal cell for optical switches. The proposed architecture is capable of comprising a compact and low voltage driving variable optical attenuator. The usefulness of the proposed architecture is demonstrated by showing characterization of the liquid crystal cell, temperature effects, and response characteristics of the architecture.

  • ED-2523 (Measuring methods for matr ix reflective LCD modules) was published by JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) in 2001. Since then, round robin tests had been done and the accuracy of measurement values had been discussed. In this paper, considerations for error factors in four measurement systems are showed.

  • Influences of anti-reflection surface treatment, radius of curvature and ambient illuminance on legibility of reflective-type displays were studied. The results showed that legibility mainly depended on the surface treatment. Better surface treatment also produced less visual fatigue after the letter-search task

  • Herein, the integration of solution-processed polymer thin-film transistors (TFTs) that were fabricated using selective wettability through ultraviolet (UV) exposure into a reflective liquid crystal display is demonstrated. From the experimental results of energy-dispersive spectroscopy, the composition of carbon and fluorine enhancing the hydrophobicity in the polymer chains was found to play a critical role in the wetting selectivity upon UV exposure. The polymer TFTs fabricated through the wettability-patterning process exhibited long-term stability and reliability. This wetting-selectivity-based patterning technique will be useful for constructing different types of solution-processed electronic and optoelectronic devices.

  • TiO2-SiO2 system anti-reflective(AR) film was prepared to decrease reflectance on the glass surface. The experiments were carried out as fellow, 1) preparation & hydrolysis of TiO2-SiO2 system sols. 2) glass dipping, and 3) drying & heat treatment. We investigated the refractive index and thickness of film with viscosity, zeta-potential of sol, sol concentration, withdrawal speed, drying and heat treatment condition. As a result, we prepared good qualitative Quarter-Half-Quarter type anti-reflective film that had minimum, 0.02% and average reflectance, 0.087% in the visible region.

  • We have studied electro-optic characteristics of transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) using in-plane switching mode. Unlike previous transflective LCD using a dual gap structure and multi driving circuit, this transflective LCD has a single gap structure and a single driving circuit. In the voltage on state, the electric field is applied horizontally to the LC directors, and then homogeneously aligned LC directors at initial state is rotated to with the electric field. But the twist angle of the LC directors in reflective area is lower than transmissive area. As a result, it is possible to design the transflective LCD with a single gap and a single driving circuit. The transflective display associated with this LC cell exhibits a wide viewing angle in both reflective and transmissive areas.

  • Recently, high quality architectural concrete, i.e., appearance of natural stone and a marbling effect, is needed, to achieve high quality glassy reflective surface for outer wall of the building. In this study to achieve above characteristics of the "glossing exposure concrete" we developed a form practice and the best mix proportion and derived the optimistic removal time of form to bring out the durable glassy reflective surface and durable concrete. Hereby with the "glossing exposure concrete" obtained we applicate for first time, to Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute situated on Taedok Science Town and it will be the beginning of the construction of "glossing exposure concrete" in this country.oncrete" in this country.ntry.

  • The Index of Learning Styles (ILS) instrument based on the Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model was used to determine distribution of learning styles of 125 South Korean business students enrolled in a South Korean institution of higher education. Results show that greater proportion of South Korean business students surveyed in this study prefer sensing over intuitive, visual over verbal, reflective over active, and global over sequential learning styles. The majority of business students have a balanced learning style in all four dimensions of the Felder-Silverman model. Among the students that do not have a balanced learning style, students with sensing, visual, reflective, and global learning styles dominate. Gender difference in learning style preference was not statistically significant for any of the four dimensions.
