  • Acoustic experiments are performed for a seafloor classification from 19 May to 25 May 2003. The six different sites of bottom composition are settled and the bottom reflection losses with frequencies (30, 50, 80. 100, 120 kHz) are measured. Sediment samples were collected using gravity core and the sample was extracted for grain size analysis. The fuzzy logic is used to classify the seabed. In the fuzzy logic. Bottom 1083 model of frequency dependence is used as the input membership functions and the output membership functions are composed of the Wentworth grain size of the bottom. The possibility of the seafloor classification is verified comparing the inversed mean grain size using fuzzy logic with the results of the coring.

To pass only the 25-30% of the bandwidth at the center frequency of 19.6GHz, we have designed a six-order interdigital bandpass filter using microstrip lines. Simulation result of optimization show that insertion loss is -0.275dB and reflection coefficient is -20.95dB at the passband frequency. measurement is determined center frequency, 19.150Hz, insertion loss, -4.1dB, input reflection coefficient. -l5dB and output reflection coefficient -l6dB.

  • The present investigation is to study the plane wave propagation and reflection of plane waves in a homogeneous transversely isotropic magnetothermoelastic medium with two temperature and rotation in the context of GN Type-II and Type-III (1993) theory of thermoelasticity. It is found that, for two dimensional assumed model, there exist three types of coupled longitudinal waves, namely quasi-longitudinal wave (QL), quasi-transverse wave (QTS) and quasi-thermal waves (QT). The different characteristics of waves like phase velocity, attenuation coefficients, specific loss and penetration depth are computed numerically and depicted graphically. The phenomenon of reflection coefficients due to quasi-waves at a plane stress free with thermally insulated boundary is investigated. The ratios of the linear algebraic equations. These amplitude ratios are used further to calculate the shares of different scattered waves in the energy of incident wave. The modulus of the amplitude and energy ratios with the angle of incidence are computed for a particular numerical model. The conservation of energy at the free surface is verified. The effect of energy dissipation and two temperatures on the energy ratios are depicted graphically and discussed. Some special cases of interest are also discussed.

  • In this paper, we have designed the anti-reflection(AR) coating for $1400{\sim}1600$ nm wavelength range on the ferrule facet of optical connector. The low-temperature ion-assisted deposition was applied to AR coating on the ferrule facet in order to avoid damage of optical connector. We have measured the refractive index of coating film($Ta_2O_5\;and\;SiO_2$) using the ellipsometer and optimized the film thickness using the SEM and thickness measurement equipment. UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer is used to measure transmissivity of the AR coated ferrule facet. The refractive index of $Ta_2O_5\;and\;SiO_2$ is $2.123{\sim}2.125$ and $1.44{\sim}1.442$, respectively, for $1400{\sim}1600$ nm wavelength range. The transmissivity of the AR coated ferule facet is more than 99.8 % for $1425{\sim}1575$ nm wavelength range and more than 99.5 % for $1400{\sim}1600$ nm wavelength range. The return loss of the AR coated ferrule facet is 30.1 dB.

  • The optical loss is caused by reflection on the surface of the solar cell, without being absorbed inside the solar cell. Research is actively being conducted to reduce optical loss due to such reflection of light and to improve conversion efficiency of solar cells. In this paper, the surface of the FTO glass substrate was wet etched, and the structural characteristics of the tough surface were evaluated. In addition, optical properties on the surface were analyzed, etched using spectrometer. When light was introduced to a rough surface formed by etching, it was confirmed that the multiple reflections reduced the amount of light reflection from the surface, thereby increaseing the amount of light penetrating the glass substrate.

  • The reflection and transmission coefficients of waves due to perforated wall are mainly determined by both the porosity and wall thickness of the perforated wall and the period and nonlinearity of incident waves. Among them the wall thickness is very important because it affects the head loss coefficient and the inertia length of the wall. However, by employing the head loss coefficient derived for sharp crested orifice, the previous researches have neglected, or incorrectly considered the effect of wall thickness on the head loss coefficient. Even though it is considered, the effect of the inertia length is neglected in some empirical formulae. Thus, the effect of wall thickness on the reflection and transmission coefficients of waves is not properly considered. In this study comprehensive experiments are conducted for the perforated walls with various thicknesses, and the results are compared with those predicted by the empirical formulae. As a result it is found that the existing formulae can not properly consider the effect of wall thickness, and it is confirmed that a new formula which can correctly consider the effect of wall thickness on the head loss coefficient is necessary.

  • Using motions (Maruo) and wave reflection (the author), speed loss due to wind (van Berlekom) and ITTC standard spectrum, and various effects of weather(:such as weather intensity, ship type, ship size and draught) on ship speed performance at sea were investigated. Further, a comparison of the relative effects of weather and hull roughness on speed loss was also studied for a VLCC.

  • The test facility has been manufactured to predict the dynamic insertion loss and the pressure drop for ducted silencers based on ISO 7235. The qualification test of the test facility is necessary for determining the dynamic insertion loss and the pressure drop of the test silencer, and is surveyed the reflection coefficient for an anechoic termination, the velocity profile near the upstream connection to the test silencer, the reduction of the system silencer and the limiting insertion loss due to the flanking sound transmission along the duct walls.

  • This study was to suggest the propagation path loss and predictive model of propagation path analysis in order to apply the frequency in the millimeter-wave band to the real time inter-vehicle communication system. This study was to suppose the case of inter-vehicle communication on the one-way two-lanes road in the big cites with a lot of traffic jams in order to analyze the effect by the reflected wave of multipath. As a simulation of suggested model, it found out that the propagation path by the reflected wave was about 0.1[m]$\sim$5.1[m] longer than the one by the direct wave during the transmission of 100[m] wave direct path. Also, as a result of comparing the propagation path loss, the loss would be about -0.8[dB]$\sim$-4.2[dB] larger in case of wall reflection and -0.8[dB]$\sim$-1[dB] vehicle reflection. From the result above, this researcher found out that the path loss of reflected wave produced by the walls was about -3.2[dB] larger than the path loss produced by the adjacent vehicles.

  • Microcellular foaming plastics create a sensation at polymer industrial for lowering product costs and overcoming a lowering of mechanical intensity. Among many advantages, microcellular foaming plastics is well known to have a good acoustical properties. This research based on the experiment of sound absorption and transmission characteristics inquire into acoustical properties of microcellular foaming plastics. Difference of transmission loss of microcellular foaming plastics and solid materials was defined as cell effect. Also, cell effect is expressed by sound reflection and sound absorption. This study is expected to fundamental research to present economical, functional alternative plan for products using sound absorption and transmission materials.
