Indium tin oxide (ITO) nanopowders were synthesized by coprecipitation and the sol-gel method to prepare a stable dispersion of ITO nano-colloid for antistatic coating of a display panel. The colloidal dispersions were prepared by attrition process with a vibratory milling apparatus using a suitable dispersant in organic solvent. The ITO coating solution was spin-coated on a glass panel followed by the deposition of partially hydrolyzed alkyl silicate as an over-coat layer. The double-layered coating films were characterized by measuring the sheet resistance and reflectance spectrum for antistatic and antireflective properties.
Although EOC data have been frequently used in several applications since the launch of the KOMPSAT-1 satellite in 1999, its radiometric characteristics are not clear due to the inherent limitations of the on-board calibration system. The radiometric characteristics of remotely sensed imagery can be measured by the sensitivity of radiant flux coming from various surface features on the earth. The objective of this study is to analyze the radiometric characteristics of EOC data by simulating the sensor- received radiance. Initially, spectral reflectance values of reference targets were measured on the ground by using a portable spectre-radiometer at the EOC spectrum. A radiative transfer model, LOWTRAN, then simulated the sensor-received radiance values of the same reference target. By correlating the digital number (DN) extracted from the EOC image to the corresponding radiance values simulated from LOWTRAN, we could find the radiometric calibration coefficients for EOC image. The radiometric gain coefficients of EOC are very similar to those of other panchromatic optical sensors.
The real ($\varepsilon$1) and imaginary ($\varepsilon$2) parts of the dielectric function of ZnS have been measured by spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) in the 3.7-6.0 eV photon-energy range at room temperature. The obtained dielectric function spectra reveal distinct structures at energies E0/(E0+$\Delta$0) and E1 critical points. The spectrum after chemical treatment to remove surface oxide overlayer showed that these data seem to be the best representation of the dielectric function of ZnS, having the largest $\varepsilon$2 value at E1 peak region reported so far by SE. Dielectric-related optical constants of ZnS, such as the complex refractive indices (n+n=ik), absorption coefficient, and reflectance, are also presented.

The principal objective of current study was to evaluate the potential of near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) as a non-destructive method for the prediction of the amylose and protein contents of un-hulled and brown rice in broad-based calibration models. The average amylose and protein content of 75 rice accessions were 20.3% and 7.1%, respectively. Additionally, the range of amylose and protein content were 16.6-24.5% and 3.8-9.3%, respectively. In total, 79 rice germplasms representing a wide range of chemical characteristics, variable physical properties, and origins were scanned via NIRS for calibration and validation equations. The un-hulled and brown rice samples evidenced distinctly different patterns in a wavelength range from 1,440 nm to 2,400 nm in the original NIR spectra. The optimal performance calibration model could be obtained by MPLS (modified partial least squares) using the first derivative method (1:4:4:1) for un-hulled rice and the second derivative method (2:4:4:1) for brown rice. The correlation coefficients $(r^2)$ and standard error of calibration (SEC) of protein and amylose contents for the un-hulled rice were 0.86, 2.48, and 0.84, 1.13, respectively. The $r^2$ and SEC of protein and amylose content for brown rice were 0.95, 1.09 and 0.94, 0.42, respectively. The results of this study suggest that the NIRS technique could be utilized as a routine procedure for the quantification of protein and amylose contents in large accessions of un-hulled rice germplasms.

This study demonstrates the application of hyperspectral analysis as a pigment identification method for modern and contemporary Dancheong, the polychrome surface on traditional Korean wooden buildings. In particular, green pigments are the focus of this study. Green pigments in modern and contemporary Dancheong have the largest variation of materials and show a noticeable timeline. Thus, they are most suitable for estimating the manufacture or restoration period of Dancheong. Hyperspectral analysis is a noncontact, long-distance measurement technique that has advantages in the field of Dancheong analysis. It is capable of identifying both organic and inorganic pigments, unlike existing analysis methods. For this experiment, green and other pigments used during the modern and contemporary era were selected and made into painted samples under various mixing conditions that reflect their actual uses. Through hyperspectral analysis, their reflectance characteristics were observed, which enables the derivation of four main features that can distinguish the type of pigments used for color mixture. Based on these, a pigment identification system was designed in the form of a flowchart, and its utility was confirmed through site application. Despite some limitations at this stage, the technique can be complemented by considering proper measurement methods or the continuous accumulation of samples and data. If a database on various materials, mixing ratios, painting techniques, and other external interference factors is developed in future research, it would provide the foundation for a faster and safer analysis environment of Dancheong sites.
The method for preparing a perovskite-type bismuth ferrite (BFO) photocatalyst which reacts to visible LED light and the characteristics of visible light photocatalysis were investigated. BFO was prepared according to the sol-gel method. The prepared BFO consisted mainly of BiFeO3 structure and formed a nano-sized crystal including Bi24Fe2O39 structure. The BFO nano crystallines were identified from the UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra to absorb UV and visible light up to about 600 nm. The bandgap of the BFO determined from the diffuse reflectance spectrum was about 2.2 eV. Formaldehyde was decomposed by the photoreaction of BFO photocatalysts with the visible light LED lamps with wavelengths of 585 nm and 613 nm. The narrow bandgap of BFO led to elicit BFO photocatalytic activity in visible LED light.
We fabricated a vacuum ultraviolet spectre-reflectometer which consists of a deuterium light source, a vacuum monochromator, and a sample chamber and detector module. The operation was performed in the ultraviolet spectral ranges between 115 nm and 330 nm at the vacuum pressure of 3.0 ${\times}$ 10$^{-4}$ Pa. The wavelength of the vacuum monochromator was calibrated with the line spectrum of a low pressure Mercury lamp of 253.652 nm and 184.95 nm wavelengths, and its resolution was 0.012 nm, and the precision of wavelength was $\pm$ 0.03 nm. With this reflectometer and a deuterium lamp, we measured the spectral regular transmittance and reflectance of materials(MgF$_2$, CaF$_2$, BaF$_2$, SiO$_2$, Sapphire) used as optical components over the spectral range between 115 nm and 230 nm.
The applicability of non-destructive near infrared reflectance spectroscopic (NIRS) method was tested to determine the protein and oil contents of intact soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] seeds. A total of 198 soybean calibration samples and 101 validation samples were used for NIRS equation development and validation, respectively. In the developed non-destructive NIRS equation for analysis of protein and oil contents, the most accurate equation was obtained at 2, 8, 6, 1(2nd derivative, 8 nm gap, 6 points smoothing, and 1 point second smoothing) and 2, 1, 20, 10 math treatment conditions with Standard Normal Variate and Detrend (SNVD) scatter correction method and entire spectrum (400-2500 nm) by using Modified Partial Least Squares (MPLS) regression, respectively. Validation of these non-destructive NIRS equations showed very low bias (protein: 0.060%, oil: -0.017%) and standard error of prediction (SEP, protein: 0.568 %, oil : 0.451 %) as well as high coefficient of determination ($R^2$, protein: 0.927, oil: 0.906). Therefore, these non-destructive NIRS equations can be applicable and reliable for determination of protein and oil content of intact soybean seeds, and non-destructive NIRS method could be used as a mass screening technique for selection of high protein and oil soybean in breeding programs.
This study uses empirical method to estimate absorption coefficient of colored dissolved organic matter $(a_{dom})$ from GOCI satellite data with the relationship between band ratio of remote sensing reflectance $(R_{rs})$ and $a_{dom}$. For development of $a_{dom}$ estimation algorithm, the used data is in-situ data about ocean optical properties in the around seawater area of the Korean Peninsula during 1998 - 2005. The relationship of $R_{rs}$(412)/$R_{rs}$(555), $R_{rs}$(443)/$R_{rs}$(555), $R_{rs}$(490)/$R_{rs}$(555), $R_{rs}$(510)/$R_{rs}$(555) and $a_{dom}$(412) showed $R^2$ values of 0.707, 0.707, 0.597 and 0.552, respectively. The spectrum of $a_{dom}({\lambda})$ is shape of exponential function $a_{dom}({\lambda})$ value decreases with increasing wavelength. For estimation of $a_{dom}$ from satellite data, we developed an algorithm from the relationship of $a_{dom}$(412) and $R_{rs}$(412)/$R_{rs}$(555). This algorithm was employed on SeaWiFS imagery to estimate $R_{rs}$(412) in the South Sea, East Sea, Yellow Sea and northern East China Sea areas. Also, SeaDAS-derived $a_{dg}$(412) from same SeaWiFS imagery, These $a_{dg}$(412) was then compared with in-situ and empirical-algorithm-derived $a_{dom}$(412), but these values were different. We think two points that such different values are caused by discrepancy related to failure of standard atmospheric correction scheme, the other are caused by error related to definition of $a_{dom}$(412) and $a_{dg}$(412).
In this study, glass-ceramics containing cordierite(2MgO$.$2Al$_2$O$_3$5SiO$_2$) as a major crystalline phase was prepared from MAS (MgO-Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$) glass system for the application to reflector. Glasses prepared with addition of TiO$_2$as a nucleating agent were crystallized by two-step heat treatment of nucleation and crystal growth. Then nucleation and crystal growth behavior were investigated and the influence of heat treatment schedule on the nature of crystal phases and the diffuse reflectance spectrum was investigated. As a result, cordierite and rutile were precipitated as a major crystalline phases for the glass-ceramics with the nucleation at 750$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours and then crystallization at 1100$^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours, and this glass-ceramics showed the reflectance over 90% in 570∼2500nm specturm region.
