  • The automated ball indentation(ABI) test was utilized to develop a semi-nondestructive method for estimating the fracture toughness( $K_{JC}$ ) in the transition temperature range. The key concept of the method is that the indentation deformation energy to the load at which the mean ball-specimen contact pressure reaches the fracture stress is related to the fracture energy of the material. ABI tests were performed for the reactor pressure vessel(RPV) base and weld metals at the temperatures of-15$0^{\circ}C$~$0^{\circ}C$ and the fracture toughness (estimated $K_{JC}$ ) was calculated from the indentation load-depth data. For all steels the temperature dependence of the estimated fracture toughness was almost the same as that ASTM $K_{JC}$ master curve The reference temperatures( $T_{o}$)of the steels were determined form the estimated $K_{JC}$ versus temperature curves. The reference temperature was well correlated with the index temperature of 41J Charpy impact energy( $T_{41J}$).).).

  • This study aims to develop clothing sales forecast system using weather information. As the annual temperature variation affects changes in daily sales of seasonal clothes, sales period can be predicted growth, peak and decline period by changes of temperature. From this perspective, we analyzed the correlation between temperature and sales. Moving average method was applied in order to indicate long-term trend of temperature and sales changes. 7-day moving average temperature at the start/end points of the growth, peak, and decline period of S/S clothing sales was calculated as a reference temperature for sales forecast. According to the 2013 data analysis results, when 7-day moving average temperature value becomes $4^{\circ}C$ or higher, the growth period of S/S clothing sales starts. The peak period of S/S clothing sales starts at $17^{\circ}C$, up to the highest temperature. When temperature drops below $21^{\circ}C$ after the peak temperature, the decline period of S/S clothing sales is over. The reference temperature was applied to 2014 temperature data to forecast sales period. Through comparing the forecasted sales periods with the actual sales data, validity of the sales forecast system has been verified. Finally this study proposes 'clothing sales forecast system using weather information' as the method of clothing sales forecast.

  • The creep constants which are used to the reference stress equations of creep damage were obtained to type 316LN stainless steel, and their determining methods were described in detail. Typical Kachanov and Rabotnov(K-R) creep damage model was modified into the damage equations with reference stress concepts, and the modified equations were applied practically to type 316LN stainless steel. In order to determine the reference stress value, a series of high-temperature tensile tests and creep tests were accomplished at $550^{\circ}C$ and $600^{\circ}C$. By using the experimental creep data, the creep constants used in reference stress equations could be obtained to type 316LN stainless steel, and a creep curve on rupture strain was predicted. The reference stress concept on creep damage can be utilized easily as a design tool to predict creep life because the process, which is quantified by the measurement of voids or micro cracks during creep, is omitted.

  • Efforts tp overcome the current challenge of global warming and abnormal temperature are being taken around the world. According to a report, average temperature of Korea has increased by about $0.8^{\circ}C$ for a century. In particular, temperature has rapidly increased since year 2000. Climate changes have brought remarkable changes in our lives. For example, agricultural field will see changes in crops and production. Energy used to maintain and manage architectures will be changed as well. In order to actively cope with rapidly changing global climate which drives changes from the basic behavior of our lives to subtle changes, international cooperation and researches are performed around the word. For instance, as a part of these global efforts, research on typical meterological data for computer simulation program to evaluate architecture energy performance is in progress in Korea. In order to conduct research on typical meterological data in format of data per time, reference regarding monthly maximum/minimum temperature time is required. Unfortunately, however, reference regarding maximum/minimum temperature time hasn't been defined in Korea. Therefore, this study aims to provide fundamental data essential for various researches by calculating maximum/minimum temperature time of major cities across Korea. According to the study, maximum temperature occurs at 3 p.m and minimum temperature occurs at 5 a.m or 6 a.m. respectively, in overall areas.

  • A numerical study of the performance assesment of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) processes in improved Korean reference disposal system (KRS+) for high-level radioactive waste is conducted using TOUGH2-MP/FLAC3D simulator. Decay heat from high-level radioactive waste increases the temperature of the repository, and it decreases as decay heat is reduced. The maximum temperature of the repository is below a maximum temperature criterion of 100℃. Saturation of bentonite buffer adjacent to the canister is initially reduced due to pore water evaporation induced by temperature increase. Bentonite buffer is saturated 250 years after the disposal of high-level radioactive waste by inflow of groundwater from the surrounding rock mass. Initial saturation of rock mass decreases as groundwater in rock mass is moved to bentnonite buffer by suction, but rock mass is saturated after inflow of groundwater from the far-field area. Stress changes at rock mass are compared to the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion and the spalling strength in order to investigate the potential rock failure by thermal stress and swelling pressure. Additional simulations are conducted with the reduced spacing of deposition holes. The maximum temperature of bentonite buffer exceeds 100℃ as deposition hole spacing is smaller than 5.5 m. However, temperature of about 56.1% volume of bentonite buffer is below 90℃. The methodology of numerical modeling used in this study can be applied to the performance assessment of coupled THM processes for high-level radioactive waste repositories with various input parameters and geological conditions such as site-specific stress models and geothermal gradients.

  • It is often desirable that manufacturers and users can convert the reference white of display into the preferred color temperature by controlling the color temperature that is one of representative color characteristics of a light source. Accordingly, this paper proposes an efficient method of color compensation for displaying the uncalibrated video signal in PDP-TV and is also shown to be successfully coupled with flexible color temperature conversion based on the signal processing technique.

  • This paper discribes the viscous interaction of Hypersonic Wedge Flows using Roe FDS and AUSM+. For this purpose we developed the frozen and the equilibrium code and numerically simulated the viscous interaction by changing the surface temperature and the mach number. We used curve fitting data in NASA Reference Publication 1181, 1260 to calculate equilibrium properties. We compare the equilibrium flow with the frozen flow. We conclude that the mach number and the surface temperature are significant parameters, as the surface temperature and the mach number increase the viscous interaction becomes stronger, and we must consider high-temperature effects in hypersonic flow

  • Information on daily maximum air temperature is important in predicting the status of plants and insects, but the uneven and sparse distribution of weather stations prohibits timely access to the data in regions with complex topography. Since cumulative solar irradiance plays a critical role in determining daily maximum temperature on any sloping surfaces, derivation of a quantitative relationship between cumulative solar irradiance and the resultant daily maximum temperature is a prerequisite to development of such estimation models. Air temperatures at 8 sideslope locations with similar elevation and slope angle but aspect, circumventing a cone-shaped, grass-covered parasitic volcano (c.a., 570 m diameter for the bottom circle and 90m bottom-to-top height), were measured from June to December in 2007. Daily maximum temperatures from each location were compared with the average of 8 locations (assumed to be the temperature measured at a "horizontal reference" position). The temperature deviation at all locations increased with the day of year (or sun elevation) from summer solstice to winter solstice. Averaged over the entire period, the south facing location was warmer by $1^{\circ}C$ in daily maximum temperature than "horizontal reference" and the north facing location was cooler by $0.8^{\circ}C$ than the reference, resulting in the year round average south-north temperature difference of $1.8^{\circ}C$. In November, both south and north facing slopes showed the greatest deviation of $+2.0^{\circ}C$ and $-1.3^{\circ}C$, respectively in daily maximum temperature at monthly scale. On a daily scale, the greatest deviation was +3.8 and $2.7^{\circ}C$ at the south and north slope, respectively. The cumulative solar irradiance (on the slope for 4 hours from 11:00 to 15:00 TST) explained >60% of the variance in daily maximum temperature deviations among 8 locations, suggesting a feasibility of developing an estimation model for daily maximum temperature over complex topography at landscape scales.

  • Fracture toughness of five different reactor pressure vessel steels was characterized in the transition temperature region by the ASTM E1921-97 standard method using Charpy-sized small specimens. T he predominant fracture mode of the tested steels was transgranular cleavage in the test conditions. A statistical analysis based on the Weibull distribution was applied to the interpretation of the scattered fracture toughness data. The size-dependence of the measured fracture toughness values was also well predicted by means of the Weibull probabilistic analysis. The measured fracture toughness transition curves followed the temperature-dependence of the ASTM master curve within the expected scatter bands. Therefore, the fracture toughness characteristics in the transition region could be described by a single parameter, so-called the reference temperature (T。), for a given steel. The determined reference temperatures of the tested materials could not be correlated with the conventional index temperatures from Charpy impact tests.

  • The procedure using equivalent time at reference temperature has been assessed for the estimation of kinetic parameters with experimental data. Kinetic studies of nonenzymatic browning reaction in model and food system were carried out with linearly increasing temperature method. These kinetic parameters, n, $k_{ref}$ and $E_a$ of the systems were evaluated from original data in one step by nonlinear least square regression. The one step procedure yielded efficiently accurate parameter estimation. Computer simulated data with the kinetic models were well consistent with experimental data (average correlation coefficient=0.96).
