The effects of turbid water on fish community was investigated in a clear reference stream (the Bongsan Steam) and a turbid stream (the Daegi Stream) located in the upstream region of the South Han River, Korea. The stress index (SI) of suspended solids (SS) were calculated during a rain event concentration by the equation SI=LN (SS${\times}$duration). EMC of SS was $1{\sim}13$ mg $L^{-1}$ in the clear stream with a mean SI of 5.2, while SS was $97{\sim}1,150$ mg $L^{-1}$ in the turbid stream with a mean SI of 10.3. Even though the number of species was not much different, the dominant species of the two steams were distinctly different. The reference stream was dominated by upstream species such as Rhynchocypris kumgangensis, Brachymystax lenok tsinlingensis, and Cottus poecilopus which are typical upstream community. Whereas the turbid streams was dominated by Rhynchocypris kumgangensis, Zacco koreanus, and Orthrias nudus which are representatives of middle reache community. Fish density was four times higher in the clear steam than the turbid stream. In the similarity analysis of fish communities the community of the turbid stream showed large dissimilarity with other communities in other streams of similar size. In conclusion, although turbidity might be at the sublethal concentration, fish communities are under stress in some turbid streams of Korea that is strong enough to induce community change. It can be an example of a chronic ecological toxicity of turbidity at the community level.

Objective : The aim of this study is identify major trend and characteristics of studies on aromatherapy in Korea. Methods : We searched the three electronic database(RISS, NDSL, KTKP) and manually checked related Korean journals and reference lists 2000 up to June 2014. The studies were analyzed based on publication year, type of paper, intervention method, type of disease, type of aroma. Results : We included 79 articles in this study. 1. 5 papers were published annually on average. 2. After classifying papers by the speciality of thesis and journal, continuous study was followed not only nursing, but also in many specialities like alternative medicine, korean medicine. 3. Aroma therapy is effect of stress, anxiety, insomnia. 4. Many used interventions are inhalation. 5. The most commonly used in aromatherapy is lavender. Conclusions : These results suggest that Aromatherapy research is insufficient in korean medicine. But more research is needed to relieve stress, anxiety in the future.
Genotype $\times$ environment (G $\times$ E) interactions must be understood if they are to be exploited to improve animal production, particularly in production systems associated with large environmental variations. The measurement and evaluation of G $\times$ E are discussed. Examples are presented that demonstrate G $\times$ E in different breeds of beef cattle for high temperatures, internal and external parasites and changes in quantity and quality of nutrition. It is demonstrated that productivity differences between genotypes or breeds under grazing conditions arise because of differences between genotypes in the combination of production potential and resistance to environmental stresses in relation to the levels of the relevant environmental stresses that are operating at the time. The $F_1$ cross between genotypes with high production potential (e.g. European Bos Taurus breeds) and those with high resistance to environmental stress (e.g. Asian and African Bos indicus and sanga breeds) is an exceptional genotype with a unique combination of these two sets of attributes. The principles for G $\times$ E developed for beef cattle are briefly discussed in relation to dairy cattle, pigs, poultry and buffalo.
The Wheatstone bridge is an important electrical circuit that is widely used to measure extremely small resistance changes in strain gages. The strain gages are attached to the structure or specimen whose deformation is to be detected. The Wheatstone bridge finds one of its major applications in the areas of static and dynamic strength tests for various engineering materials. In the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) system, for example, the bridge circuit is required to measure the dynamic strains of the incident and transmitted bars along which the stress wave propagates. In this article, the principles of the Wheatstone bridge circuit are in detail explained for easy reference during laboratory experiments associated with rock dynamics. Especially, the circuit arrangements of the quater, half, and full bridges are presented with their basic uses.
Borehole instability during drilling process occurs frequently when drilling through shale formation. When a borehole is drilled in shale formation, the low permeability leads to an undrained loading condition. The pore pressure in the compressed area near the borehole may be higher than the initial pore pressure. However, the excess pore pressure caused by stress concentration was not considered in traditional borehole stability models. In this study, the calculation model of excess pore pressure induced by drilling was obtained with the introduction of Henkel's excess pore pressure theory. Combined with Mohr-Coulumb strength criterion, the calculation model of collapse pressure of shale in undrained condition is obtained. Furthermore, the variation of excess pore pressure and effective stress on the borehole wall is analyzed, and the influence of Skempton's pore pressure parameter on collapse pressure is also analyzed. The excess pore pressure decreases with the increasing of drilling fluid density; the excess pore pressure and collapse pressure both increase with the increasing of Skempton's pore pressure parameter. The study results provide a reference for determining drilling fluid density when drilling in shale formation.

Measurement of blade strain with sensors directly installed on the blade has one critical issue, how to send the sensor signal to the ground. Strain-gauges have been dominantly used to directly measure stress of a blade and either a slip ring or a telemetry system has to be used to send measured signal to the ground. However, both systems have many inherent problems and sometimes very severe limitations to be practically used. In this paper, new on-line strain monitoring method using. FBG(Fiber Bragg Grating) sensors and a beam coupler is introduced. Measurement of rotor stress using FBG sensors is nothing new, but unlike other system which installs all necessary instruments on the rotor and use telemetry system to send data to the ground, this system makes use of light's unique characteristic - light travels through space. In this new approach, single optical fiber with many FBG sensors is installed on the blade and all other necessary instruments can be installed at ground thereby giving tremendous advantages over slip ring or telemetry system. A reference sensor is also introduced to compensate the beam coupler's transmission loss change due to rotation. The suggested system's good performance is demonstrated with experiments.

When occlusal force is applied to a tooth, stress concentration occurs on the dental cervical line. This study investigated to find the maximum force and strain of natural teeth using an Instron and strain gauges, comparing the strain of cervical enamel using finite element analysis(FEA). Tests were conducted with a mandibular first premolar applying the conditions of occlusion. Then, the FEA was processed with the same as conditions of the fracture test. The test showed that the maximum force, maximum compressive strain and maximum tensional strain was $278{\pm}26$ N, $0.668{\times}10^{-3}{\pm}0.678{\times}10^{-3}$ and $0.248{\times}10^{-3}{\pm}0.102{\times}10^{-3}$, respectively. It was found that six of eight measured strains were within the range of estimated strains by the FEA. Even though it was assumed that properties of FE models were isotropic, it could prove useful as a reference in understanding the tendency of dental strain.
The stress path characteristics of surrounding rock in the formation of gob were analysed and the unloading was solved. Taking Chengchao Iron Mine as the engineering background, the model for analysing the instability of deep gob was established based on the mechanism of stress relief in deep mining. The energy evolution law was investigated by introducing the local energy release rate index (LERR), and the energy criterion of instability of surrounding rock was established based on the cusp catastrophe theory. The results showed that the evolution equation of the local energy release energy of the surrounding rock was quartic function with one unknown and the release rate increased gradually during the mining. The calculation results showed that the gob was stable. The LERR per unit volume of the bottom structure was relatively smaller, which mean the stability was better. The LERR distribution showed that there was main energy release in the horizontal direction and energy concentration in the vertical direction which meet the characteristics of deep mining. In summary, this model could effectively calculate the stability of surrounding rock in the formation of gob. The LERR could reflect the dynamic process of energy release, transfer and dissipation which provided an important reference for the study of the stability of deep mined out area.

The main objective of this research is to develop a mechanistic performance predictive model for fatigue cracking of asphalt-aggregate mixtures. Controlled-stress diametral fatigue tests were performed to characterize fatigue cracking of asphalt-aggregate mixtures. Performance prediction model for fatigue cracking was developed using the internal damage ratio (IDR) growth method. In the IDR growth method, the general concepts of the dissipated energy, the reference tensile strain, the threshold tensile strain, and the strain shift factor were introduced. The source of the dissipated energy in the fatigue test is from the intrinsic viscoelastic material property of an asphalt concrete mixture and the damage growth within the asphalt concrete specimen. In controlled-stress mode test, the dissipated energy is gradually increased with an increasing number of load applications.

To reduce the storage space of spent fuel used at the atomic power plants in the over the world, the uranium elements contained in the spent fuel is being extracted and effectively stored. For this, the spent fuel are oxidized and deoxidized. In this study, it is produced the heat-resisting methods about the spent fuel management technology research and test facility for the spent fuel waste for spent fuel minimized. The first considered processes in the facility are the electrolytic metal reduction reactor process. Since the electrolytic metal reduction reactor is operated at the high temperature range, we have to consider the heat-resisting methods for the devices. For the heat-resisting methods, we have searched and analyzed technical reference for the heat-resisting methods. We have calculated thermal stress and strain of each devices by the commercial analysis software, ANSYS. D.S. It is experimented for inspecting confidence rate of analysis results. By using the results, we have analyzed the problems of parts and determined the heat-resisting material, commercial parts, and the size of parts and O-ring. Based on these results, it is produced the heat-resisting methods of magnesia filter, cathode, and reactor for the electrolytic metal reduction reactor.
