This study focuses on the relationship between ethnic identity of Asian-Americans and their appreciation of their ethnic body features, based on reference group theory. A convenience sample of 60 male and 52 female students from various Asian ethnicities attending a mid-western university was used for the study. A 2 (gender) by 2 (ethnic identification) by 2 (socializing group) analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) on body image satisfaction as dependent variable and Body Mass Index score as a covariate was conducted. A significant main effect of ethnic identification was found, which indicates the more respondents identified with their ethnic group, the more likely they were to be satisfied with their appearance. The social group affiliation main effect was not significant. The impact of ethnic identification was significant only for those respondents who socialize more with Americans than with Asians. The results support the idea that one's ethnic group functions as a reference group, which influences body image appraisals.

The Fieller-Creasy problem involves statistical inference about the ratio of two independent normal means. It is difficult problem from either a frequentist or a likelihood perspective. As an alternatives, a Bayesian analysis with noninformative priors may provide a solution to this problem. In this paper, we extend the results of Yin and Ghosh (2001) to unbalanced sample case. We find various noninformative priors such as first and second order matching priors, reference and Jeffreys' priors. The posterior propriety under the proposed noninformative priors will be given. Using real data, we provide illustrative examples. Through simulation study, we compute the frequentist coverage probabilities for probability matching and reference priors. Some simulation results will be given.

PWM controlled line-side converters of modern ac traction locomotives inject harmonic currents into the feeding overhead line. This causes problem of electromagnetic interference. Passive and Active filters are usually provided for a reduction of the line harmonics. Active filters are more reasonable than passive filters in terms of weight and space of the filters. Successful control of active filters requires an accurate harmonic current reference. A technique to generate the harmonic current reference is proposed in this paper. The analysis is performed in frequency domain and its effectiveness is verified by simulation.

Video quality is degraded by codec and transmission error. By analyses video pattern through NR(no reference) method, we get to aware that telephony video has particular blocking and blurring pattern and NR is suitable for telephony video quality testing. So NR will make contribution to enhancing video quality and monitoring video quality in advance.

A new method to estimate the elastic-plastic J-integral and the crack tip opening displacement (COD) for circumferential through-wall cracked pipes under tension and under bending is proposed for Leak-Before-Break (LBB) analysis. Being based on the reference stress method with further modifications, the proposed method is simple to use and easy to be generalised in practice. Comparison of the CODs, predicted using the proposed method with published pipe test data show overall excellent agreement.

Systematic procedure of developing radionuclide release scenarios was established based on FEP list and Interaction Matrix for near-surface LILW repository. FEPs were screened by experts＇review in terms of domestic situation and combined into scenarios on the basis of Interaction Matrix analysis. Under the assumption of design scenario, The system domain was divided into three sections: Near-field, Far-field and Biosphere. Sub-scenarios for each section were developed, and then scenarios for entire system were built up with sub-scenarios of each section. Finally, sixteen design scenarios for near-surface repository were evaluated A reference scenario and other noteworthy scenarios were selected through experts＇scenario screening.

A charge pump circuit with very short turn-on time is presented for minimizing reference spurs in CMOS PLL frequency synthesizers. In the source switching charge pump circuit, applying proper voltages to the source nodes of the current source FETs can significantly reduce the unwanted glitch at the output current while not degrading the rising time, thus resulting in low spur at the synthesizer output spectrum. A 1.1-1.6 GHz PLL synthesizer employing the proposed charge pump circuit is fabricated in 65 nm CMOS. The current consumption of the charge pump is $490{\mu}A$ from 1 V supply. Compared to the conventional charge pump, it is shown that the reference spur is improved by dB through minimizing the turn-on time. Theoretical analysis is described to show that the measured results agree well with the theory.

Instantaneous following PWM control technique is pulsed nonlinear dynamic control method. This new control technique using analog integrator is proposed to control the duty ratio D of DC-DC converter. In this control method, the duty ratio of a switch is exactly equal to or proportional to the control reference in the steady state or in a transient. Proposed control method compensates power source perturbation in one switching cycle, and the average value of the dynamic reference in one switching cycle. There is no steady state error nor dynamic error between the control reference and the average value of the switched variable. Experiments with buck converter have demonstrated the robustness of the control method and verified theoretical prediction. The control method is very general and applicable to all type PWM.

The proliferation of digital libraries (DL) in the twenty-first century has revolutionized the way information is generated and disseminated. This has led to various practical and research models of DLs. This paper discusses the concept and development of digital libraries, and examines various components and characteristics of DLs. It further identifies various models and theories of digital libraries with a special focus on the DELOS Reference Model and 5S Theory. The relationship between the two focused frameworks is analyzed for better understanding of their application in the DL universe.

Bioequivalence test of commercially available rifampicin capsules was performed. Sixteen volunteers were divided into 2 groups and the reference and test drug were given orally (450 mg) by cross-over design. Statistical evaluation of AUC, $C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ involved an analysis of variance (ANOVA). The differences of mean value in AUC, $C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ between the reference and test drug were within 20% with reference drug. ANOVA showed no significant differences for ‘between group’, ‘drug’ and ‘period’, but not for ‘between subjects’. The power of test $(1-{\beta})\;of\;AUC\;and\;$C_{max}$ was larger than 0.8 and the confidence of bioavailability was $within\;{\pm}20%$. From these results, it was concluded that the two preparations were bioequivalent for AUC and $C_{max}$, but was not for $T_{max}$.
