The purpose of this study was to examine variables which influenced on fashion jewelry consumers' purchasing behavior. 565 respondents living in Seoul and its suburb were surveyed for this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA, and regression were used for this study. As the result, the frequencies of purchasing toward the fashion jewelry products were associated with materialism, brand royalty, reference group influence. Also, results revealed that materialism and brand royalty accounted for 41% of the explained variance in the frequency of purchasing products on fashion jewelry. Based on these results, fashion jewelry marketing strategies would be suggested.

Various type of welded joints of the ship structure have been examined numerically and experimentally under bending and tensional cyclic constant-amplitude loading. Cyclic loading on structures can produce failures not readily predicted by conventional static analysis. The aim of a benchmark study is achieved with a generalization of the reference stress concept. Also different methods and procedures exist for the computation of the welded structure hot-spot stress a welded joints. These are either based on the extrapolation of stresses at certain reference points on the plate surface (or edge) close to the weld toe-as known from experimental investigations- or on the linearization of stresses in the through-thickness direction. In the present paper, the different methods are reviewed and applied to four different details in order to compare the methods with each other and to illustrate the differences.

In this study, a chloroform consumer chemical product (CCP) reference material (RM) is successfully developed, with potential to be used in the proficiency testing of hazardous compounds in CCPs for analysis and testing agencies. Validation experiments are rigorously conducted to evaluate whether the RM meets the requirements set by the ISO 13528 and ISO Guide 35, using a reliable GC/MS method for the analysis of chloroform. The obtained calibration plot linearity, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantitation (LOQ) are excellent. The developed RM meets the homogeneity and stability requirements; the between-unit (s_bb) and within-unit (s_wb) standard deviations are less than 2.5%, and the stability is found to be guaranteed for 50 days.

This study examines the influence of acculturation level and ethnic groups as a fashion reference group on Korean-American consumer attitude toward luxury fashion brands. Of interest is the role of Korean culture, which emphasizes luxury brand consumption due to the Confucion value of 'face', on Korean-American attitudes toward luxury brands. Data were collected from 108 young Korean-Americans living in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and multiple regressions were conducted for the analysis. In general, the respondents had relatively negative attitudes toward luxury fashion brands. Even though the acculturation level did not have a significant influence, attitudes toward luxury fashion brands were influenced by Korean reference groups. Age at immigration did not have a significant relationship with attitudes toward luxury brands. Korean-Americans who maintain ties with Korean culture are more likely to have a positive attitude towards luxury fashion, regardless of familarity with American culture.

Using Power Spectrum Analysis, conditions of parameter convergence for a Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) system are described. The general Persistent Excitation (PE) condition given in time domain can be transformed to the positiveness of auto-correlation matrix which is represented in frequency domain by the spectra of reference input signal. For an MRAC system designed with relative degree one, the existence and the uniqueness of parameter nominal values due to the variation of input spectra can be analyzed by the PE condition in frequency domain. If the input signal has 2n spectra or more, it can be shown that the nominal values exist independent of adaptive gain, input amplitudes, and magnitudes or numbers of their spectra.

A random sampling or systematic sampling method is commonly used to assess the accuracy of classification results. In remote sensing, with these sampling methods, much time and tedious work are required to acquire sufficient ground truth data. So, a more effective sampling method that can represent the characteristics of the population is required. In this study, fractal analysis is adopted as an index for reference sampling. The fractal dimensions of the whole study area and the sub-regions are calculated to select sub-regions that have the most similar dimensionality to that of the whole area. Then the whole area's classification accuracy is compared with those of sub-regions, and it is verified that the accuracies of selected sub-regions are similar to that of whole area. A new kind of reference sampling method using the above procedure is proposed. The results show that it is possible to reduce sampling area and sample size, while keeping the same level of accuracy as the existing methods.

In this paper, the boundedness of adjustable parameters for the model reference adaptive control(MRAC) system using a constant reference signal is discussed. This analysis is motivated by that it is possibel to verify the existence, boundedness and bounded range of the parameter as well as the stability of the adaptive system with an alternative propoerty of Lyapunov function. For two adaptive laws; a general gradient mothod(GGM) and a least square method(LSM), unique solution set in parameter space can be estabilished by a new approach suggeste here. Computer simulation results to show the effect of parameter space analysis are also examined.

The purpose of this study was to examine family factors affecting compulsive buying behavior. Three hundred fifty-five female college students who had purchased fashion products through Internet shopping or TV home shopping participated in this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, t-test, multiple regression, and reliability test. As the results, approximately 18% of respondents were revealed as compulsive buyers. Compulsive consumption scores were correlated to higher previous childhood consumption experience, family matters, parents' compulsive consumption tendency, and reference group. Also, results of multiple regression revealed that previous childhood consumption experience, parents' compulsive consumption tendency, and reference group were significantly related to compulsive buying, Finally, there were significantly differences between compulsive buyers and non-compulsive buyers on previous childhood consumption experiences, parents' compulsive consumption tendency, and reference group. Based on these results, this study would provide significant implications to academic scholars, consumer policy decision makers, and marketers.

Applying and extending some preceding researches, this paper proposes a map of Italian extreme winds assigning the reference velocity, i.e., the wind velocity averaged over 10 minutes, at 10 m height, in a flat open terrain, with 50 years mean return period, depending on the site and the altitude. Furthermore, an objective criterion is formulated by which the actual values of the local wind velocity are given as a function of the reference velocity. The study has been carried out in view of the revision of the Italian Standards dealing with safety and loads and the introduction of the aeolic Italian map into Eurocode 1.
