리던던시 기법을 활용한 신뢰성 설계 대안 분석 (Alternative Analysis of Reliability Design using Redundancy Technique)

  • In this paper we proposed the alternative analysis of reliability design using redundancy technique. First, we presented the process for establishing the reliability design alternative analysis process considering the active redundancy and the standby redundancy. and then, the case analysis of A driving equipment was performed in accordance with the reliability design alternative analysis process presented. In case the series reliability design result is not met with the reliability target value. so, the target item for redundancy design of A driving equipment were selected as items with a severity of two or higher. The redundancy design applied with active and standby redundancy techniques were analyzed using BlockSim software. As a result, it was analyzed that reliability design to active redundancy with one of two elements required for A driving equipment is the most efficient compared to the target value of reliability. The results of this study can be usefully used before the reliability design is performed.

  • 칩의 적층 기술이 적용된 TSV기반 3D IC로 진화함에 따라 새로운 문제점이 발생하게 되었다. Bonding 이후 다이간 TSV가 제대로 연결되었는지 테스트하지만 Redundnacy TSV에 대해서는 테스트하지 않는다. 그러나 더 높은 수율을 얻기 위해서는 redundancy TSV에 대한 연결 테스트를 수행해야 한다. redundancy TSV의 연결을 테스트하고 진단하여 고장 있는 TSV를 대체함으로써 더 높은 수율을 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 TSV기반 3D IC에서 다이간의 TSV 연결 테스트뿐 아니라 redundancy TSV 테스트를 위한 래퍼셀을 제안하고자 한다. 제안하는 래퍼셀은 하드웨어로 설계하였을 시 기존의 테스트패턴을 그대로 사용할 수 있고, 소프트웨어 설계 시에는 면적을 최소화할 수 있다.

Structural safety redundancy-based design method for structure with viscous dampers

  • A simple design process is proposed for supplemental viscous dampers based on structural safety redundancy. In this process, the safety redundancy of the primary structure without a damper is assessed by the capacity and response spectra. The required damping ratio that should be provided by the supplemental dampers is estimated by taking the structural safety redundancy as a design target. The arrangement of dampers is determined according to the drift distribution obtained by performing pushover analysis. A benchmark model is used to illustrate and verify the validity of this design process. The results show that the structural safety redundancy of the structure provided by the viscous dampers increases to approximately twice that of the structure without a damper and is close to the design target. Compared with the existing design methods, the proposed process can estimate the elastic-plastic response of a structure more easily by using static calculation, and determine the required damping ratio more directly without iterative calculation or graphical process. It can be concluded that the proposed process is simple and effective.

  • According to the new rules and regulations (New SOLAS), major safety critical systems are to be designed to be redundant, which is called 'Redundancy Design'. This paper was to quantitatively analyze the degree of influence of the redundancy design applied to major safety critical systems using IMO's FSA(formal Safety Assessment) method. For the purpose of this study, the diesel engine system, which is actually one of major safety critical systems, was dealt with FMEA, FTA and ETA technique. In addition, whether the redundancy was met or not was verified and the degree of safety, or redundancy, was represented in terms of reliability. In conclusion, the safety of propulsion systems is possibly assessed systematically by estimating the risk level in terms of frequency and fatality.

  • 본 논문은 2중으로 다중화된 무인 비행체의 다중화 관리 설계 방법에 대하여 논의한다. CCM(Cross Channel Monitor) 기법의 두 주요 인자, 즉 두 채널간의 편차 허용한도인 문 턱값(threshold) 및 지속시간(persistence count)을 어떻게 설계하여야 하는 가에 관한 문제를 통계학적인 해석을 사용하여 그 해결법을 제시하였다. 또한, 무인 비행체의 생존확률을 증대시킬 수 있는 해석적 다중화 가법에 대한 문제를 칼만 필터링 (Kalman filtering)을 적용하여 접근하였다. 여기서 제시된 방법으로 설계된 CCM 및 칼만 필터링을 이용한 해석적 다중화의 설계 결과들은 XV-15 틸트 로터 비행체에 적용되어, 그 설계의 타당성이 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증되었다.

  • In the development of an underwater construction robot, the reliability of the operating system is the most important issue because of its huge maintenance cost, especially in a deep sea application. In this paper, we propose a new redundant architectural design for the hydraulic control system of an underwater construction robot. The proposed architecture consists of dual independent modular redundancy management systems linked with a commercial profibus network. A cold standby redundancy management system consisting of a preprocessing switch circuit is applied to the signal network, and a hot standby redundancy management system is adapted to utilize two main controllers.

  • The reliability is defined as a probability that a system will operate properly for a specified period of time under the design operating conditions without failure and it has been considered as one of the major design parameters in the field of industries. Reliability-Redundancy Optimization Problem(RROP) involves selec tion of components with multiple choices and redundancy levels for maximizing system reliability with constraints such as cost, weight, etc. However, in practice both active and cold standby redundancies may be used within a particular system design. Therefore, a redundancy strategy(active, cold standby) for each subsystem in order to maximize system reliability is considered in this study. Due to the nature of RROP, i.e. NP-hard problem, A Parallel Particle Swarm Optimization(PPSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the mathematical programming model and it gives consistently better quality solutions than existing studies for benchmark problems.

Redundancy of Dual and Steel Moment Frame Systems under Earthquakes

  • The reliability/redundancy of structural system has become a serious concern among engineers and researchers after structural failures in Northridge and Kobe earthquakes. The reliability/redundancy factor, ρ, in current codes considers only member force and floor area and has received much criticism from dissatisfied engineers. Within a reliability framework. the redundancy is investigated for dual systems of primary shear walls and secondary moment frames and steel moment frame systems. Probabilistic performance analyses are carried out baled on nonlinear responses under SAC ground motion. The effects of structural configuration, ductilily capacity, 3-D motion, and uncertainty of demand verses capacity are investigated. Important redundancy-contributing factors are identified and a uniform-risk redundancy factor is developed for design. The result are compared with the p factor and its inconsistency is pointed out.

대안 부품을 고려한 다계층 시스템의 최적 중복 설계 (Optimization of Redundancy Allocation in Multi Level System considering Alternative Units)

  • Purpose: System consists of a lot of units with coherent function. In design phase, various units could be considered with the same function. In this study, we consider the alternative units with the same function and redundancy allocation to maximize system reliability in multi level system. Methods: The redundancy allocation problem with the alternative units in multi level system is formulated. Memetic algorithm(MA) is proposed to optimize the redundancy allocation problem. In addition, the performance of the proposed algorithm is explained by a numerical experiment. Results: MA showed better results than genetic algorithm(GA) and the convergence of the solutions in MA was also faster than GA. In addition, we could know from experiment that system reliability is increased and the chosen unit for redundancy allocation is changed if cost limit is increased. Conclusion: The chose unit for redundancy allocation is changed as resource constraints. It means we need to consider the alternative units in system design. In the future, we need to consider various problem related to redundancy allocation in multi level system and develop the better method to enhance search performance.

정보디자인의 잉여성적용 연구 (A study on the application of redundancy in information design)

  • 기존의 정보이론은 정보의 송신자, 메시지, 채널, 수신자 등을 중심으로 정보전달과정에서 개입될 수 있는 잡음이나 정보의 량, 정보의 선택확률에 대하여 다루었다. 현재의 디지털 정보환경에서는 다양한 정보미디어와 더불어 정보 메시지 자체를 전달하는 것 이외에 정보를 어떻게 전달하는가가 중요한 문제로 대두되었다. 따라서 기존의 정보이론에 대한 다양한 해석이 필요하며, 정보디자인 문제해결을 위한 접근방법의 하나로 정보의 잉여성에 대해 고착해 볼 수 있다. 잉여성은 정보의 부가적 표현이나 중복성을 의미하며 흥미를 유발하고 해석해야 할 정보의 량을 줄여 보다 명확한 정보전달을 한다. 잉여성은 문학과 건축, 미술 등기 예술 커뮤니케이션에서 수용자를 중시하여 참여를 유도함으로써 예술을 완성시키기 위해 활용되는 개념이다. 이는 정보수용자 측면에서 설득적 정보를 디자인하기 위해 활용이 필요하다. 디지털 정보환경에서 정보의 잉여성은 수용자의 체험과 기억을 돕는 것으로, 기술적 요인의 멀티미디어와 인터랙션의 부가적 표현이나 이벤트 개념에 의해 형성될 수 있다. 정보의 구조화 과정에서는 엔터테인먼트적 요소와 스토리텔링 기법을 이용한 놀이의 잉여구조와 엔트로피, 코드의 중층화 등을 통해 정보의 잉여성을 표현할 수 있다. 잉여성은 정보에 대한 흥미를 유발시켜 수용자의 적극적 정보해석 의지를 갖게 함으로써 정보전달목적을 효과적으로 달성할 수 있게 한다.
