Elastodyamic analysis of torsion of shaft of revolution by line-loaded integral equation method

  • The dynamic response of an elastic torsion shaft of revolution is analysed by the Line-Loaded Integral Equation Method (LLIEM). A "Dynamic Point Ring Couple" (DPRC) is used as a fictitious fundamental load and is distributed in an elastic space along the axis of the shaft outside the shaft occupation. According to the boundary condition, our problem is reduced to a 1-D Fredholm integral equation of the first kind, which is simpler for solving than that of a 2-D singular integral equation of the same kind obtanied by Boundary Element Method (BEM), for steady periodically varied loading. Numerical example of a shaft with quadratic generator under sinusoidal type of torque is given. Formulas for stresses and dangerous frequency are mentioned.

  • Some allylamine compounds which are benzothiazole substituants in stead of naphthyl ring in naftifine, antifungal agents, were synthesized as potential antimycotics. The interme diate Schiff bases that were obtained by condensation of 2-aminobenzothiazole and trans-cinnamaldehyde, were reduced to imine compounds to give allylamines (5a-5d) after methylation. These compounds which were tested in vitro against five fungal cell lines containing Trichophyton mentagrophytes, showed no activity in 0.1~100${\mu}$g/ml range.

Distribution of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Farmed Oysters (Crassostrea gigas) around Tongyeong, Korea

  • To evaluate the culture conditions in oyster-farming waters, chemical and biological measurements were made in seawater and oysters from six bays around Tongyeong in November and December 2003. Nutrient levels in the seawater were higher in the western area than in the eastern area, in contrast to particulate organic matter and dissolved oxygen levels. The mean total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon ({\sum}PAH) content of the oysters was 194.5-375.9 ng/g dry weight, with four-ring compounds constituting 34.1%-79.6% of PAH. Despite wide temporal variations, a "western > eastern" spatial distribution of PAH was apparent. These low concentrations of PAHs indicate that Tongyeong waters are pristine in terms of PAH contamination. Among the hemocytic biomarkers, only lysosomal activity was significantly reduced in Hansan-Goje Bay, but did not correlate closely with PAH content. This finding indicates that the impact of PAH on cultured oysters is negligible around Tongyeong waters.

  • Derivatives of elema-1,3-diene were synthesized in several steps as polar analogs of $\beta$-elemene, antitumor agent under clinical phase. The lactone ring of compound 1 was opened by LiAlH4 to give diol 2 which was selectively protected by TBDPSCI. After acetylation of the secondary alcohol, the acetylated product was ozonolyzed and reduced to give elemene derivative 4 which was converted to diolefin 8 via selenides subsequent deprotection by tetrabutylammonium fluoride gave two compounds 9, 10.

  • In this paper, a new structure of fully differential delay cell VCO using quadrature phase for low phase noise and high speed operation is suggested. It is realized by inserting voltage clamp circuit into input pairs of delay cells that include three-control current source having high output impedance. In this reason. this newly designed delay cell for VCO has the low power supply sensitivity so that the phase noise can be reduced. The whole characteristics of VCO were simulated by using HSPICE and SABER. Simulation results show that the phase noise of new VCO is quite small compared with conventional fully differential delay cell VCO and ring oscillator type VCO. It is also very beneficial to low power supply design because of wide tuning range.

Simultaneous Utilization of Two Different Pathways in Degradation of 2,4,6-Trinitrotoluene by White Rot Fungus Irpex lacteus

  • This study confirmed that white rot fungus Irpex lacteus was able to metabolize 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) with two different initial transformations. In one metabolic pathway of TNT a nitro group was removed from the aromatic ring of TNT. Hydride-Meisenheimer complexes of TNT (H$\^$-/-TNT), colored dark redo were confirmed as the intermediate in this transformation by comparison with the synthetic compounds. 2,4-Dinitrotoluene as a following metabolic product was detected, and nitrite produced by denitration of H$\^$-/-TNT supported this transformation. In the other TNT pathway, nitro groups in TNT were successively reduced to amino groups via hydroxylamines. Hydroxylamino-dinitrotoluenes and amino-dinitrotoluenes were identified as the intermediates. The activity of a membrane-associated aromatic nitroreductase was detected in the cell-free extract of I. lacteus. This enzyme catalyzed the nitro group reduction of TNT with NADPH as a cofactor, Enzyme activity was not observed in the presence of molecular oxygen.

  • 2$\times$2 방향성 결합기와 단일모드 광섬유를 이용하여 무편광기를 구현하였다. 행렬식을 이용한 모의실험을 통해 편광도를 줄이는 방법을 이론적으로 설명하였고 이를 실험적으로 검증하였다. 0.05 nm 이하의 좁은 선폭을 가진 편광된 입력광원의 편광상태 변화에 대해 -20 dB의 출력 편광도를 얻을 수 있었다 광섬유 지연선의 길이를 광원의 가간섭 길이보다 충분히 길게 함으로써 입력광의 편광 변화에 의한 강도 잡음을 효과적으로 없앨 수 있음을 실험적으로 검증하였다.

  • To evaluate the role of imidazolidinone moiety of potential anticancer 4-phenyl-1-arylsulfonylimidazolidinones 1 for their cytotoxicity conformationally similar 4-phenyl-2-arylsulfonylaminooxazolines 2 were synthesized and compared their cytotoxicities with those of the corresponding 1. Compounds 2 showed much reduced activity compared to N-arylsulfonylimidazolidinones 1. This result might indicate that the imidazolidinone ring of 1 have the other roles for the activity as an essential structural motif in addition to conformational contribution .

촉감 피드백을 위한 유압증폭자기치유형 정전식 액추에이터 연구 개발 (HASEL Actuator Study for Tactile Feedback Device)

  • Attempts are being made to provide various tactile feedbacks to user. In particular, a variety of soft actuators are being inserted into the tactile feedback device to give a more flexible, soft and strong stimulation. In this study, a basic study was performed to utilize a hydraulically amplified self-healing electrostatic (HASEL) actuator as a tactile feedback actuator. The HASEL actuator showed great displacement and force with a simple circuit configuration. In particular, by making the actuator in a circular shape, the angle was reduced and the electrode was arranged in a ring shape to maximize the displacement of the central part. As a result, the HASEL actuator showed a displacement difference according to the input waveform. In addition, in order to use it safely as an actuator for tactile feedback, we covered the surface with silicone and confirmed that the actuator works well. Using these actuators, it will be possible to manufacture a lightweight, portable tactile feedback device.

  • This paper presented a new measuring system to improve circular motion accuracy by using two-dimensonal probe and master ring for NC machine tools. This measuring system reduced the circular motion error conspicuously by eliminating the influence of the acceleration/deceleration range and compensating the friction force whose influences were significant while measuring the motion. Experimental results show that this system had enough accuracy to measure a circular motion for NC machine tools, compared with the circular test method and the r .theta. method.
