  • This study performed the research about the recycling basin supernatant by pre-coat filtration in the D water treatment plant at Gwangju. Choice the prompt conditions with diatomaceous earth filtration which makes contaminant reduced in the basin supernatant. Element disk of candle used in this experiment are pore size 10$\mu\textrm{m}$(R), 20$\mu\textrm{m}$(B) and 40$\mu\textrm{m}$(Y). Diatomaceous earth are cake pore size 3.5$\mu\textrm{m}$(A), 7$\mu\textrm{m}$(B) and 17$\mu\textrm{m}$(C). The filtrate concentrations were from 0.18 to 0.92$\mu\textrm{g}$/1 of Chlorophyll-a. And then, removal rate percentage were from 78.30 to 95.57(R-A). In addition SS 80%, CODMn32% COD 61%, T-N 10% and T-P 39% on the D water treatment plant. The R(40$\mu\textrm{m}$) C(17$\mu\textrm{m}$) process can be substituted of reusing the recycled water of recycling basin supernatant view of capacity and removal rate of filtrate.

  • The primary element of machining automation is to maximize the utilization of machine tools, which determines the output and lead-time. In particular, 95% of raw materials for wing ribs are cut into chips and 0.6 ton of chips are generated every hour from each machine tool. In order to verify the chip recycling system that controls the chips from the machines in five-axis FMS line, a simulation of the virtual model is constructed using the QUEST simulation program. The optimum speed of the chip conveyor and its operating conditions that directly affect the efficiency of the FMS line are presented including the chip conveyor speed, the maximum capacity of the hopper, and the number of chip compressors.

  • Red mud is generated as a by-product in the production of $Al(OH)_{3}/Al_2O_3$ from bauxite ore. In this study the pellet-type adsorbents have been made from the red mud, and their adsorption capacities of heavy metal ions have been tested. The pellet-type adsorbents were synthesized to utilize the excellent adsorption capacity of the powder-type adsorbent for industrial application. The pellet-type adsorbents were prepared by mixing several kinds of additives with the red mud. It is found that the pellet-type adsorbent, made by sintering a mixture of red mud (96.0 wt%), polypropylene (2.5%), fly ash (0.5 w%), and sodium metasilicate(1.0 wt%) at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes, has the highest adsorption capacity. in this work, the two kinds of pellet-type adsorbents (bead-type, crushed-type) were prepared. The crushed-type adsorbent was found to show a better adsorption/desorption performance than the bead-type adsorbent. The crushed-type adsorbent showed a good adsorption capacity of $Pb^{2+}$ like the powder-type adsorbent.

  • Two organic materials, peat and rock wool were used for removal of $H_2S$ by a biofilter inoculated with night soil sludge. By gradually increasing the inlet load of $H_2S$, the complete removal capacity, which was defined as the inlet load of $H_2S$ that was complete removed, and the maximum removal capacity of $H_2S$, which was the value when the removal capacity leveled off for organic materials, were estimated. Both values for Rock wool are larger than peat, based on a unit dry weight of material. By using kinetic analysis, the maximum removal rate of $H_2S$, $V_m$, and the saturation constant, $K_s$, were determined for all packing materials and the values of $V_m$ for rock wool was found to be larger. By using the kinetic parameters, the removal rates for $H_2S$ were compared both packing materials, and rock wool showed better performance for the removal of $H_2S$ in the inlet concentration range of 0~200ppm.

  • Recently, oystershell wastes cause serious environmental problem and the need for the researches on the recycling of oystershell have been increased and various methods are already in operation. Field plate bearing tests and numerical analysis were performed to investigate the bearing capacity of oystershell filled geotextile gabion which utilized the waste oystershell at the coastal oyster farm site. The waste oystershell mixed soil specimens were prepared for the laboratory test and field test in terms of varying blending ratio of granite soil and oystershell. Based on the cyclic plate load test results, the spring constant, subgrade modulus of ground, and the reinforcing parameters were determined. The field plate load test results indicate that the bearing capacity of the soil ground with the oystershell mixed ratio of 20% is greater than that of the original ground. Two-dimensional numerical analysis was evaluated the expected deformation in the given conditions. Analysis results show a similar characteristics on bearing capacity with the results of the field plate load test. These findings suggest that the oystershells are very promising construction materials for landfill and earth embankment in coastal area.

  • The technology of removing phosphorous, considered as one of the most important control nutrients causing eutrophication in various water bodies, have been investigated by many researchers. In this study, casts which can be obtained from the vermicomposting of mixing sewage sludge and cow manure, were used as an adsorbent, and their effects of several physical/chemical factors on the efficiencies of phosphorous adsorption were examined by batch tests. Generally, it could be showed that the efficiencies of phosphorous adsorption were very influenced by cast dosage, temperature and agitation speed. If we reflected the adsorption capacity(k) and adsorption intensity(1/n) of Freundlich isotherm, we couldn't consider casts as a good adsorbent for removing phosphorous. But, because casts were relatively excellent in cation exchange, in point of waste recycling, we could know that they were capable of removing phosphorous. The SEM observation revealed that the evident variations were hardly seen, but particle sizes of cast were relatively bigger and showed forms of smaller plate than before.

  • Exfoliated graphite was found to sorb selectively a large amount of heavy oil, about 80 g of heavy oil floating on water per 1 g of exfoliated graphite, which is highly possible to be applied to recovering spilled heavy oil. Sorption capacity, selectivity and kinetics of exfoliated graphite were reviewed. The possibility of recovery of heavy oil from exfoliated graphite and recycling of both recovered heavy oil and exfoliated graphite was also discussed. Its sorption performance was compared with other materials which were reported to show sorption of heavy oil.

  • The replacement ratio of waste EPS was varied, and its effect on compressive strength and absorption capacity was investigated. According to the experimental results, The 28th day compressive strengths for the W/C 50% specimens were 17.5~21.2MPa, which was relatively low compared to the 13.6~22.2MPa of the W/C 70%.

  • Activated Rice-Hull carbon was developed to remove ammonia compounds in water matrix. Isotherm adsorption tests of ammonia were conducted using a bottle-point technique and column test. Residual ammonia after Jar-Test or passing through the column was determined by Indophenol method, and assessed the removal efficiency for ammonia of the adsorbent. As a result, the adsorption capacity for ammonia of activated racehull carbon was very larger than that of coconut shell carbon, because the rice hull carbon had the higher BET surface area of silicate. The activated racehull carbon is under the development as adsorbent to remove ammonia in drinking water and waste water.

  • The adsorption characteristics of ammonia on MSWI bottom ash were investigated. The effect of the variation of the landfill environmental parameters including pH, anions and organic matter on the adsorption process was discussed. Results showed that the adsorption could be well described by pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir model, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 156.2 mg/g. The optimum adsorption of ammonia was observed when the pH was 6.0. High level of ion and organic matter could restrict the adsorption to a low level. The above results suggested that MSWI bottom ash could affect the migration of ammonia in the landfill, which is related to the variation of the landfill circumstance.
