Voltage and current phasor estimation has been executed by GPS-based synchronized PMU, which has become an important way of wide-area blackout protection for the prevention of expending faults in a power system. The PMU technique can not easily get the field data and it is impossible to share information, so that there has been used a FNET(Frequency Monitoring Network) method for the wide-area intelligent protection in USA. It consists of FDR(Fault Disturbance Recorder) and IMS(Information Management System). Therefore, FDR must provide an optimal frequency estimation method that is robust to noise and failure. In this paper, we present comparative studies for the frequency estimation method using IRDWT(Improved Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), FRDWT(Fast Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform), and DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform). The Republic of Korea345[kV] power system modeling data by EMTP-RV are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed two kinds of RDWT(Recursive Discrete Wavelet Transform) and DFT. The simulation results show that the proposed frequency estimation technique using FRDWT could be the optimal frequency measurement method, and thus be applied to FDR.

For digital holographic video system, it is important to generate digital hologram as fast as possible. This paper proposed a fixed-point method and fast generation method that can calculate the Fresnel hologram using operation of whole-coordinate recursive addition. To compute the digital hologram, 3D object is assumed to be a collection of depth-map point generated using a PC. Our algorithm can compute a phase on a hologram by recursive addition with fixed-point format at a high speed. When we operated this algorithm on a personal computer, we could maximally compute digital hologram about 70% faster than conventional method and about 30% faster than of [3]'s method.
In this paper, a method for estimation of external force on an end-effector using joint torque sensor is proposed. The method is based on portion of measure torque caused by external force. Due to noise in the torque measurement data from the torque sensor, a recursive least-square estimation algorithm is used to ensure a smoother estimation of the external force data. However it is inevitable to create a delay for the sensor to detect the external force. In order to reduce the delay, modified recursive least-square is proposed. The performance of the proposed estimation method is evaluated in an experiment on a developed six-degree-of-freedom robot. By using NI DAQ device and Labview, the robot control, data acquisition and The experimental results output are processed in real time. By using proposed modified RLS, the delay to estimate the external force with the RLS is reduced by 54.9%. As an experimental result, the difference of the actual external force and the estimated external force is 4.11% with an included angle of $5.04^{\circ}$ while in dynamic state. This result shows that this method allows joint torque sensors to be used instead of commonly used external sensory system such as F/T sensors.

This paper proposes an on-line estimation algorithm of internal resistance of Li-ion battery based on the recursive least squares method to prevent the overvoltage and undervoltage casing degradation of life cycle of battery. An equivalent circuit model with single time constant is adopted, and under assumptions that the terminal voltage, current and SOC are measured accurately, the discrete time based nonlinear equation of the model can be converted to the linear equation which can be applied to recursive least squares method. Since the coefficients of the discrete time linear equation can be expressed by the parameters of the equivalent circuit model, it is shown that an internal resistance (Ri) can be estimated in real time using the least square method.

In this paper, we analyzed the multilayer structure with lossy metamaterials using ABCD Matrix method to get the transmission characteristics. Compared to the recursive method which cannot be used to analyze the lossy characteristics of multilayer structure because of its complexity, we used the ABCD matrix method is easy to apply because of its matrix chain concepts for arbitrary number of multilayer structure and lossy material. To verify the results of this paper, we used both for multilayer dielectric and metamaterial, respectively, and obtained the same results. Multilayer structure with lossy metamaterial showed minimized ripple and broadband transmission compared to dielectric multilayered structure. This can be used in various applications as antenna radome and shielding material, etc.
Blind adaptive systems based on the Euclidean distance (ED) between the distribution function of the output samples and that of a set of random symbols generated at the receiver matching with the distribution function of the transmitted symbol points estimate the ED at each iteration time to examine its convergence state or its minimum ED value. The problem is that this ED estimation obtained by block?data processing requires a heavy calculation burden. In this paper, a recursive ED estimation method is proposed that reduces the computational complexity by way of utilizing the relationship between the current and previous states of the datablock. The relationship provides a ground that the currently estimated ED value can be used for the estimation of the next ED without the need for processing the whole new data block. From the simulation results the proposed recursive ED estimation shows the same estimation values as that of the conventional method, and in the aspect of computational burden, the proposed method requires only O(N) at each iteration time while the conventional block?processing method does $O(N^2)$.

In many communication systems, intersymbol interference, DC and impulsive noise are hard-to-solve problems. For the purpose of cancelling such interferences, the concept of lagged cross-correlation of probability has been used for blind equalization. However, this algorithm has a large burden of computation. In this paper, a recursive method of the algorithm based on the lagged probability correlation is proposed. The summation operation in the calculation of gradient of the cost is transformed into a recursive gradient calculation. The recursive method shows to reduce the high computational complexity of the algorithm from O(NM) to O(M) for M symbols and N block data having advantages in implementation while keeping the robustness against those interferences. From the results of the simulation, the proposed method yields the same learning performance with reduced computation complexity.

In this paper, we propose an ordering chatbot that can process multiple keywords based on recursive slot-filling method. In general, in case of an order service using chatbots, the whole order process is performed only according to the sequence defined by the developer. That is, among all the information needed for the whole order process, only one input can be processed at one time. In order to reduce processing step for the order, we propose a recursive slot-filling method which fills out multiple slots per one time by extracting multiple keywords. First, a keyword array for the order is created according to the order related information. Next, from the input sentence of a user, multiple keywords is extracted. Corresponding slots for a keyword array will be filled with the extracted keywords. Finally, recursive routine will be executed to fill out all the blank in the keyword array. The usability and validity of the proposed method will be shown from the implementation of a smartphone application.
It is known that total least-squares method shows better estimation performance than least-squares method when noise is present at the input and output at the same time. When total least squares method is applied to data with time series characteristics, Recursive Total Least Squares (RTS) algorithm has been proposed to improve the real-time performance. However, RTLS has numerical instability in calculating the inverse matrix. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for reducing numerical instability as well as having similar convergence to RTLS. For this algorithm, we propose a new RTLS using Iterative Wiener Filter (IWF). Through the simulation, it is shown that the convergence of the proposed algorithm is similar to that of the RTLS, and the numerical robustness is superior to the RTLS.
The ordinary differential equation (ODE) method has been widely used for the convergence analysis of stochastic recursive algorithms. The principal objective of this method is to associate to a given algorithm a differential equation with continuous righthand side. Usually some assumptions should be imposed to get such a differential equation. If any of assumptions fails, then the ODE method cannot be used. Recently a new method using differential inclusions (DIs) was introduced in [3], which is useful to deal with those cases. The DI method shares the same idea with the ODE method, but it is different in that a differential inclusion is identified instead of a differential equation with continuous righthand side. In this paper, we briefly review the DI method and then analyze a Robbins and Monro (RM)-type algorithm. Our focus is placed on the projected algorithm.
