In this paper a new harmonic reduction method of three-phase diode rectifiers is proposed to improve input current performance using the zero-sequence harmonics injection technique. The proposed mothed, based on the third-harmonic injection, employs two half-bridge inverters and two single-phase transformers to independently shape the positive and negative dc rail currents of the diode rectifier. The actively shaped zero-sequence harmonic currents are t]ten circulated through the ac side of the rectifier using a zigzag transformer This results in pure sinusoidal input currents in the three-phase diode rectifier. Experimental results on a 1.5kVA prototype are provided to validate the proposed technique.

Conventional phase shift full bridge (PSFB) converter has serious voltage oscillation problem across the secondary rectifier diodes, which would require the dissipate snubber circuit, thus degrades the overall efficiency. To overcome this problem a new simple voltage oscillation reduction technique (VORT) which effectively reduce the voltage oscillation of the secondary rectifier diodes for phase shift full bridge converter is proposed. Therefore, no dissipate snubber for rectifier diodes is needed. In addition, since it has wide zero voltage switching (ZVS) range, high efficiency can be achieved. Operational principle, analysis of voltage oscillation, and design consideration are presented compare with that of the conventional PSFB converter. To confirm the validity of the proposed VORT, experimental results from a 420W prototype are presented.
This paper deals with a novel method of modeling and analyzing multilevel pulse width modulation(PWM) inverter/rectifier, which leads to extraction of equivalent circuit in fundamental frequency domain. By the technique, we can draw out the corresponding linear time invariant circuit even thuogh the actual circuit is switched. A static VAR compensator using five-level inverter is modeled and simulated for the verification of the modeling.

Thyristor rectifiers are still the preferred choice for large magnet power supplies. However, large harmonic voltages, resulting in large current ripple, and slow dynamic response are major drawbacks of these converters. Joos presented a topology and a control technique for a hybrid large-power high-precision magnet power supply in 1996. The system consists of a phase controlled rectifier (PCR) connected in series with a high-frequency PWM converter. This paper improves the power circuit of the PWM converter using interphase transformer. Simulation result proves effect of the proposed system.

In sino-atrial node cells which act as the normal pacemaker of the heart, K conductance in resting state is minimal due to the absence of inward rectifier K channels K conductance only increases when the membrane is depolarized by the activation of the delayed rectifier K current I$\_$k/. In the present study, we investigated the gating mechanism of$\_$k/ using the whole cell patch clamp technique in isolated single sinoatrial cells of the rabbit. (omitted)
A procedure for the optimal design of high quality rectifiers is introduced in this paper. The procedure is capable of producing different optimal designs for the same rectifier based on the objective performance required from that rectifier. A FORTRAN-based computer system designed to solve large-scale optimization problems was used in this work to obtain the optimal designs. The optimization program uses Wolfe algorithm in conjunction with a quasi-Newton algorithm as well as a projected augmented Lagrangian algorithm to solve the highly nonlinear optimization problem. The paper also introduces a detailed analysis and an application of the procedure on a boost-type zero-current switch (ZCS) single-switch three-phase rectifier introduced recently in the literature. The obtained results are compared with popular simulation packages (i. e. PSPICE and SIMCAD) to support the validity of the proposed concept.
In this study, an 4H-SiC Trench MOS Barrier Schottky (TMBS) rectifier which utilizes the trapezoid mesa structure and the upper half of the trench sidewall is proposed to improve the forward voltage drop and reverse blocking voltage concurrently. The proposed 4H-SiC TMBS rectifier reduces the forward voltage drop by 12% compared to the conventional 4H-SiC TMBS rectifier with the tilted sidewall and improves the reverse blocking voltage by 11% with adjusting the length of the upper sidewall. The Silvaco T-CAD was used to analyze the electrical characteristics.

In this paper, the new open fault detection and tolerant operation method for 3 phase PWM rectifier is proposed. When open fault occurred on the inverter switches of 3 Phase PWM rectifier, the DC link voltage ripple is increased because the input current of the faulty phase is distorted. In this case, the quality of electric power would decrease, and the life time of DC link capacitor is decreased. The open fault is detected by a simple MRAS(Model Reference Adaptive System) without additional hardware sensors, and the tolerant operation carried out by turning on the opposite switch of the faulty switch without any redundancy. By the proposed method, the faulty phase input current can be controlled, so that 3-phase input current is balanced relatively under the faulty condition and the voltage ripple of DC link output is reduced. The validity of the proposed technique is proved on the 6kW 3-phase PWM rectifier system by simulation and experiment.

The main contribution of this paper is the use of sensorless active diodes to generate the gate signals for a three-phase boost-rectifier with a self-powered control scheme. The sensorless operation is achieved making use of the gate control signals generated by the active diode schemes on each of the switching devices using a pulse width half-controlled boost rectifier modulation technique (PWM-HCBR). The proposed scheme synchronizes the gate control signals with a three phase voltage supply. Autonomous operation is obtained making use of the output DC bus to feed the control circuitry, the active diodes and the driver circuitry. The three-phase boost-rectifier is supplied by a three-phase permanent magnet electric generator powered by a solar concentrator dish with variable voltage and variable frequency conditions. Experimental results report an efficiency of up to 94.6% for 25 W and an input of 3.6 V peak per phase with 450.

The PWM rectifiers are capable of supplying sinusoidal current control and unity power factor control on the input side and dc output voltage control on the output side. By applying nonlinear control to the PWM rectifiers, the responses of input current and output voltage can be improved and due to fast voltage control the output electrolytic capacitor can be reduced remarkably. In addition, it is checked whether or not the current capacity of the reduced-size capacitor allows the ripple current of the rectifier. The nonlinear control technique gives a good performance for supply voltage disturbances. The validity of the proposed scheme has been verified by the experiment using DSP.
