주유동의 난류강도가 엇갈린 배열의 사각홀 하류에서의 온도장 분포에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Mainstream Turbulence Intensitv on Dimensionless Temperature Downstream of Staggered Rows of Recangular Hole)

  • An experimental study has been conducted to measure the temperature fields for two and three staggered rows of the rectangular shaped-holes with high turbulence intensity. 10 % turbulence intensity is obtained by installation of two kinds of grids which have different shapes. One grid which is installed at 30d upstream from center of 1st row of holes is composed of vertical cylinders of which diameter is 10 mm and center to center distance is 18 mm. The other installed 15d apart to upstream from center of 1st row of holes which has square pattern is constructed of 3 rum square bars and bar spacing is 25 mm. Temperature fields are measured by using a thermocouple rake which is attached on three-axis traversing system. The results show that the overall values are decreased and the thicker film of coolant is fanned downstream of rows of holes for high mainstream turbulence intensity.

도류제에 의한 항만내 조류제어 연구 (Flow-Guider Applied to Controlling Current in a Bay)

  • This paper deals with a numerical study of flow-guider applied to controlling current in a bay. Two dimensional numerical model for tidal currents based on the depth averaged equation is developed and standard k-.epsilon. model is adopted to determine the turbulence diffusion. Equations are described in a generalized coordinate system to be implemented by non-staggered grid system and discretized by using finite volume method. Unsteady flow is simulated by fully implicit scheme. Hybrid scheme and central differencing are used to compute the convective terms and source terms, respectively. The tidal current in a rectangular bay is simulated and it gives satisfactory results. The realistic and distinct models of a large structure placed in bay are also exemplified with or without flow-guiders. The simulation results show that the flow-guider gives the residual tidal current in the bay by the different flux with respect to the direction of tidal current.

  • Terra MODIS is one of the few space-borne sensors currently capable of acquiring radiometric data over the range of view angles. Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, has been receiving Terra MODIS data at Tokyo since May 2001 and Asian Institute of Technology at Bangkok since May 2001. They can cover whole East Asia and is expected to monitor environmental changes regularly such as deforestation, forest fires, floods and typhoon. Over eight hundred scenes have been archived in the storage system and they occupy 2 TB of disk space so far. In this study, MODIS data processing system on WWW is developed including following functions: spectral subset (250m, 500m, 1000m channels), radiometric correction to radiance, spatial subset of geocoded data as a rectangular area with latitude-longitude grid system in HDF format, generation of a quick look file in JPEG format. Users will be notified just after all the process have finished via e-mail. Using this system enables us to process MODIS data on WWW with a few input parameters and download the processed data by FTP access. An easy to use interface is expected to promote the use of MODIS data. This system is available via the Internet on the following URL from September 1 2002, "http : //webmodis.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp/".

분할격자체계를 이용한 천수흐름 수치모형의 개발 (Development of a Numerical Model of Shallow-Water Flow using Cut-cell System)

  • 본 연구는 Cartesian 격자망을 기본으로 하여 복잡한 지형을 위한 격자를 간편하고 효율적으로 생성할 수 있는 기법인 분할격자체계를 제안하고자 한다. 분할격자기법은 전반적인 흐름영역의 격자는 균일한 크기의 Cartesian 격자로 표현하지만 수치모형의 정확성, 적용성 및 효율성을 증대시키기 위하여 흐름의 특성이 변하는 격자를 분할하여 처리하는 기법이다. 분할격자체계에 의한 격자망은 다양한 크기 및 형상을 지니게 되므로, 유한체적기법을 적용하여 복잡한 흐름영역을 위한 수치모형을 구성한다. HLLC Riemann 근사해법을 이용하여 지배방정식을 이산화하였으며, 수치해의 안정성을 기하기 위하여 TVD-WAF기법을 적용하였다. 분할격자체계를 이용한 수치모형을 검증하기 위하여 해석해가 존재하는 사각형수조의 자유진동흐름을 모의하였다. 해석해와 수치모의 결과를 비교하여 본 연구에서 제안된 기법이 균일격자 및 분할격자체계에서 자유수면변위 및 x-축 및 y-축 방향의 유속을 정확히 모의함을 확인하였다.

Computation of Flows Around a High Speed Catamaran

  • A numerical study is carried out to clarify the characteristics of flow fields and breaking phenomena around a high speed catamaran hull advancing on calm water. Computations are carried out for Froude numbers between 0.2 and 1.0 and for ratios of the distance between hulls to the catamaran length varying between 0.2 and 0.5 for a mathematically defined Wigley hull. A Navier-Stokes solver which includes the nonlinearities of free surface conditions is employed. Computations are performed in a rectangular grid system based on the Marker & Cell method. For validation, present computation results are compared with existing experimental results. As an application, the results of the displacement catamaran are used for the breaking analysis.

Numerical Simulations of Breaking Waves above a Two-Dimensional Submerged Circular Cylinder

  • In this paper, nonlinear interactions between water waves and a horizontally submerged circular cylinder are numerically simulated. In this case, the nonlinear interactions between them generated a wave breaking phenomenon. The wave breaking phenomenon plays an important role in the wave farce. Negative drifting forces are raised at shallow submerged cylinders under waves because of the wave breaking phenomenon. For the numerical simulation, a finite difference method based on the unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation is adopted in the rectangular grid system. The free surface is simulated with a computational simulation method of two-layer flow by using marker density. The results are compared with some existing computational and experimental results.

  • A three dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes code based on the third derivative upwind is employed to simulate the flow around the underwater vehicle advancing on the calm water. Computations are carried out in the range of Froude numbers 0.4 to 0.7. The wave resistance, lift, moment and the pressure distribution on the body are calculated. Computations are performed in a rectangular grid system based on the Marker & Cell method. For validation, computation results are compared with existing experimental results.

  • Unsteady two-dimensional nonlinear waves which are generated by the numerical wavemaker of plunging type are numerically simulated using a finite difference method in rectangular grid system. Two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation are used for the computations. Irregular leg lengths and stars are employed near the boundaries of body and free surface to satisfy the boundary conditions. Marker-density function method is adopted for the simulation of wave breaking phenomena, and the computations are carried out with various wave amplitudes and two section shapes of wavemaker. The computation results are compared with other existing computational and experimental results, and the agreement between the experimental data and the computation results is good.

  • Numerical simulation is made of the three-dimensional wave breaking motion about a part of a floating offshore structure containing a circular cylinder mounted vertically onto a lower hull in regular periodic gravity wave generated by a numerical wave maker. TUMMAC-VIII finite-difference method is newly developed for such a problem. By use of density-function technique the three-dimensional wave breaking motion is approximately implenented in the framework of rectangular grid system. A porosity technique is devised for the implementation of the no-slip bydy boundary conditions. The generation of breaking waves by the interaction of incident waves with the structure is well simulated and interesting features of breaking waves are revealed with containing degree of quantitative and qualitative accuracy.

  • In this study the water including sediment is assumed that the density is different from fresh water. And the phenomenon inhaled by low pressure around the pipe is numerically simulated in two dimension. The simulation is done using finite difference method in rectangular staggered mesh system and Navier-Stokes equations and continuty equation are employed as governing equations. The method of Irregular leg lengths and stars are adopted to satisfy boundary condition of body boundary. Marker-Density method is used to calculate the density of mixed flow. Also SGS turbulence model is applied to consider vortex smaller then grid at high Renolds number. This study is to analyze inhalation phenomenon of mixed flow with sediment and to verify the numerical method for mixed flow. To verify the numerical results are compared with experimental results
