영역분할에 의한 불일치 격자세분화 기법을 이용한 중공형 압출공정의 설계 및 해석 (Design and Analysis of Hollow Section Extrusion using Mismatching Refinement with Domain Decomposition)

  • The present work is concerned with three-dimensional finite element analysis of the hollow section extrusion process using a porthole die. The effects of related design parameters are discussed through the finite element simulation for extrusion of a triply-connected rectangular tubular section. For economic computation, mismatching refinement, an efficient domain decomposition method with different mesh density for each subdomain, is implemented. In order to obtain the uniform flow at the outlet, design parameters such as the hole size and the hole position are investigated and compared through the numerical analysis. Comparing the velocity distribution with that of the original design, it is concluded that the design modification enables more uniform flow characteristics. The analysis results are then successfully reflected on the industrial porthole die design.

디젤엔진 피스톤용 SCM440의 레이저 표면경화부의 잔류응력 (Residual Stress Distribution of Laser Hardened SCM440 for Diesel Engine Piston)

  • SCM440, which is widely used as the diesel engine piston of vessel, has been hardened by a $CO_2$ laser with the wavelength of $10.6{\mu}m$. Laser hardening experiment has been carried out for the condition of a laser power 1kW, the travel speed between 0.4 and 1.5m/min, and a rectangular-Gaussian beam. Residual stress has been measured by using middle point technique of half value width of X-ray diffraction method. It was found that the compressive residual stress with the range between 400 and 600MHz has distributed in the laser hardening zones and the tensile residual stress between 100 and 200MHz has distributed in the boundary of hardening zones.

  • There have been many researches performed on the formability of axisymmetric or rectangular cup shapes in the deep drawing processes. But non-axisymmetric deep drawing processes rely upon empirical knowledge of experts in most cases. Especially, there have been few researches for multi-stage elliptical deep drawing processes. In this study, formability and thickness distributions of elliptical yoke products were predicted by using finite element analysis. The results of the analysis were compared with those of experiments for validity.

  • O-ring seal is usual component part in various mechanical apparatus for sealing that makes efficient performance of the equipments. The sealing performance of O-ring is affected in environments of the O-rings, like that applied pressure, working temperature, pre-compressed ratio and materials. In this paper, a pressurized, compressed elastomeric bi-polymer O-ring inserted into a rectangular groove is analyzed numerically using the MARC finite element program. The calculated FEM results showed that bi-polymer O-ring that is manufactured by NBR for an inner and FFKM for an outer ring shows a low temperature distribution among various bi-polymer O-ring models. But, the normal contact stress between the flange and upper part of the O-ring is small compared to other bi-polymer model.

  • The numerical study for the effect of various factors that affect the temperature distribution of the process glass installed above the large rectangular heater plate was carried out. For the calculation, heat flux, distance between heat source and process glass plate, effect of vacuum condition and convection in a chamber were considered as important factors. The results showed that the temperature gradient on the glass was increased at the natural convection because of the buoyancy force increases due to the heated air. Also, the more heat flux and distance between the heater plate and glass increases, the more increasing the temperature gradient was. In the case of isothermal heating wall, the temperature variation was smaller than the uniform heat flux condition.

  • 본 연구는 시간영역 유한 차분법(finite difference-time domain method:FDTD)을 이용하여 마이크로스트립 배열 안테나의 전자계 특성들을 해석한다. 직각좌표계에서 맥스웰 방정식의 유한차분 방정식을 정의하였으며, 자유공간과 같은 무한영역해석을 위해서 Mur의 흡수경계조건을 이용하였다 마이크로스트립 배열 안테나를 단위격자 구조로 모델링한 후 시간영역에서 필드분포를 도시하였다.

  • Existing design equations generally overestimate the shear strength of the circular transverse reinforcement. This is due to the simplification of the discrete distribution of the reinforcement to the continuous one and the inappropriate application of the classical truss model to the circular section, which is different in shear-resisting component from the rectangular section. The present study introduces a new model considering the starting point of the diagonal crack, the number of transverse reinforcing bars crossing the crack and the effective strength component of the transverse resistance. This model leads to a simple design equation which is derived using the linear regression method and is in agreement with the lower bound of exact strength curve.

  • 본 논문에서는 불량 하드디스크 드라이브의 수리판정 자동화를 위해 필요한 하드디스크 드라이브(Hard Disk Drive, HDD) 결함의 분포패턴의 분류에 관한 연구 결과를 소개한다. HDD 제조공정에서는 테스트 진행 중 검출된 결함에 관한 정보를 HDD 내부에 기록한다. 불량으로 판별된 HDD는 내부에 기록된 결함의 분포론 관찰한 후, 불량의 종류 및 그에 따른 처리방안을 결정한다. 본 논문에서는 효율적인 결함분포 패턴의 특징추출을 위해, 하드디스크의 물리적 특성에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 극좌표 (Polar Coordinates) 방식으로 표현된 결함 위치 데이터를 직교좌표(Cartesian Coordinates)로 변환한다. 그리고 디스크 상의 두 동심원 사이의 공간을 정해진 회전각별로 등분한 후, 나누어진 구간별로 결함 발생빈도 히스토그램 (Histogram) 분석을 수행하여 결함분포의 패턴을 분류하는 알고리즘을 제시한다. 설계된 알고리즘은 실제 HDD 제조공정에서 발생한 불량 HDD Set을 대상으로 적용한 결과, 그 효용성이 검증되었다.

CHARACTERISTICS OF SMOKE CONCENTRATION PROFILES WITH UNDERGROUND UTILITY TUNNEL FIRE

  • Accurate prediction of the fire-induced air velocity, temperature and smoke flow in underground utility tunnel becomes more important for the optimization of design and placement of heat and smoke detectors. In order to improve the safety of underground utility tunnel systems, the behaviors of fire-induced smoke flow and temperature distributions are investigated. Especially, two different cross-sectional shapes of tunnel, such as rectangular and circular types are modeled. Also, fire source is modeled as a volumetric heat source. Three-dimensional thermal-flow characteristics in an underground tunnel are solved by means of FVM using SIMPLE algorithm. The effects of shape geometry on the fire-induced flow characteristics are graphically depicted. It is desirable that heat and smoke detectors are installed on the cables and the top of the wall.

레이저 유도 열화학 습식에칭을 이용한 티타늄 미세구조물 제조 (Laser-induced Thermochemical Wet Etching of Titanium for Fabrication of Microstructures)

  • Laser-induced thermochemical wet etching of titanium in phosphoric acid has been investigated to examine the feasibility of this method fur fabrication of microstructures. Cutting, drilling, and milling of titanium foil were carried out while examining the influence of process parameters on etch width, etch depth, and edge straightness. Laser power, scanning speed of workpiece, and etchant concentration were chosen as major process parameters influencing on temperature distribution and reaction rate. Etch width increased almost linearly with laser power showing little dependence on scanning speed while etch depth showed wide variation with both laser power and scanning speed. A well-defined etch profile with good surface quality was obtained at high concentration condition. Fabrication of a hole, micro cantilever beam, and rectangular slot with dimension of tess than 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ has been demonstrated.
