Utilizing Machine Learning Algorithms for Recruitment Predictions of IT Graduates in the Saudi Labor Market

  • One of the goals of the Saudi Arabia 2030 vision is to ensure full employment of its citizens. Recruitment of graduates depends on the quality of skills that they may have gained during their study. Hence, the quality of education and ensuring that graduates have sufficient knowledge about the in-demand skills of the market are necessary. However, IT graduates are usually not aware of whether they are suitable for recruitment or not. This study builds a prediction model that can be deployed on the web, where users can input variables to generate predictions. Furthermore, it provides data-driven recommendations of the in-demand skills in the Saudi IT labor market to overcome the unemployment problem. Data were collected from two online job portals: LinkedIn and Bayt.com. Three machine learning algorithms, namely, Support Vector Machine, k-Nearest Neighbor, and Naïve Bayes were used to build the model. Furthermore, descriptive and data analysis methods were employed herein to evaluate the existing gap. Results showed that there existed a gap between labor market employers' expectations of Saudi workers and the skills that the workers were equipped with from their educational institutions. Planned collaboration between industry and education providers is required to narrow down this gap.

  • 육 해 공군 부사관은 군을 유지 발전시키고 이끌어가는 근간이므로 인력획득업무는 매우 중요하다. 현재 부사관의 모집업무는 각 군이 양성기관별로 중복 운영하면서 지원자의 진로에 대한 궁금증을 효과적으로 해소해 주지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 부사관 선발제도는 군 고유성유지와 획득전문가 활용 및 법령개정 측면에서는 유리하였지만 홍보, 선발효율성, 국민편익증진, 예산절감 등에서 미흡하다고 보여진다. 따라서 각 군별 모집에 대한 일원화를 모병업무 전담기관인 병무청에서 운영한다면 각 군의 노력과 자원을 절감하면서 우수한 간부인력을 획득할 수 있으며, 부사관 지원자들이 적시에 정확한 정보를 제공할 수 있고, 편리한 시설과 시스템을 통한 향상된 서비스를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Recruitment and enrollment in a randomized clinical trial of mandibular two-implant overdenture

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a promotion campaign for subject recruitment and selection, and reasons of withdrawal from a prospective clinical trial of mandibular two-implant supported overdenture. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The subjects of this study were participants in a randomized controlled clinical trial for investigating prognosis of implants and overdentures with attachments. Recruited subjects were classified by gender, age, and participation motives. Withdrawal rate of the participants before and after enrollment were evaluated. RESULTS. 177 patients were recruited and 51 patients were enrolled for the trial. Among them, 40 participants eventually took part in the trial. 116 subjects (65.5%) were recruited by advertisement and 61 (34.5%) were referred by patients of the hospital or local clinics. Regarding recruitment effectiveness, newspaper recruited the largest number of participants. With respect to referral patients, the proportion of our hospital patients was higher (37/61). Subjects in their 70s comprised the largest proportion (22/51). The male to female ratio was similar (25:26). Final withdrawal rate of all subjects were 74.0%. Among the reasons for withdrawal from enrollment (n=126) presence of remaining teeth and lack of motivation were the most common reasons. CONCLUSION. To facilitate recruitment of clinical trial subjects and improve enrollment rate, it is important to obtain a sufficient number of researchers, perform promotion activity with diverse strategies, cooperate with local dentists, increase the research funding, and alleviate subjects' fear against clinical trials by thorough consultation.

ICT 중소기업의 성장단계별 인적자원 채용 및 연구개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Human Resource Recruitment and R&D by the Growth Stage of ICT SMEs)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the trouble of recruitment and research and development of ICT SMEs. Recently, many ICT SMEs have emerged for selling products and services using the technology of the 4th industrial revolution. However, SMEs have relatively deficient resources compared to large companies, the difficulty of maintenance or growth of human resources and intangible resources. This research methodology organized the four stages of the analysis process. The first analysis is the association rules for human resource recruitment. The second analysis is the difficulty of hiring jobs and experienced workers by each stage of company growth. The third analysis is a regression analysis of the trouble of R&D activity. The last analysis is an analysis of association rules on the difficulties of management activities by company growth. As the research result, the first analysis has shown a difference in favored human resources by the ICT industry. The second analysis also showed factor differences in job recruitment difficulties for each stage of corporate growth. In the third analysis, the operation of research institutes in ICT SMEs is influenced by industry type, corporate certification, corporate growth stage, self-technology development, joint technology development, technology transfer, and commercialization. As the last analysis, ICT SMEs showed factor differences in difficulties in management activities by stage of corporate growth. This study contributed empirically emphasizing the troubling phenomenon of human resources and R&D necessary for the growth of ICT SMEs. As a theoretical implication, this research contributed to the research-area expansion of management information using big-data technologies. In particular, this research practically suggests the differentiated direction of recruitment and R&D by ICT SMEs based on industry and each stage of company growth through the association rules of big data.

임상시험 대상자 모집 광고에 대한 정부의 규제 효과 (The Effect of Regulation on Recruitment Advertising for Clinical Trial Subjects in Korea)

  • Background: Recently clinical trials have expanded extensively in Korea; thus, ensuring the rights of subjects participating in clinical trials is imperative. Accordingly, national regulations on subject recruitment advertisement were enforced from October 25, 2018. In this study, the effect of this regulation was evaluated by analyzing the difference in the provision of information before and after enforcement of the regulation. Methods: Recruitment advertisements for clinical trial subjects 3 years before and after enforcement of the regulation were collated by the significance sampling approach. Print-based (newspapers, buses, and subways) and web-based (clinical trial center websites and online platforms) materials for recruitment in clinical trials of phase 1 to 4 for investigational drugs, medical devices, and oriental medicine were considered. Chi-square tests were conducted for inter-group comparisons. SPSS version 26 was employed for statistical analyses. Results: A total of 137 advertisements were collected comprising 60 pre- and 77 post-regulation enforcement. The overall rate of delivery of critical information in advertisements increased significantly from 47.5% before regulation to 93.2% after regulation enforcement. Particularly, details on expected adverse events augmented significantly (p<0.001). Benefits from participation in clinical trial reduced significantly from 88.3% to 70.1% (p<0.05). As the information provision amplified, the inclusion of professional terms increased. Conclusions: Enforcement of regulations has led to a surge in the amount of information and challenging terms contained in advertisements for recruiting subjects. Therefore, additional efforts are required by subjects to completely understand the information provided in the advertisements.

  • 급격한 행정환경 변화는 공직사회에 변화를 가져오고 있으며, 공직사회도 기존의 인사제도가 변화하는 환경에 대응하기 어려움을 인지하고 있으며, 새로운 인사제도의 변화를 시도하고 있다. 그러나 안정성을 중시하는 공직사회에서는 인사제도 변화가 쉽지 않으며, 현재의 공무원 채용방식에 의해 미래의 공공인재의 충원이 가능한 지에 대해 검토해야 한다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 미래사회에 요구되는 인재상을 문헌을 통하여 제시하며, 현재의 채용방식에 대해 미래의 인재상에 부합되는 인재의 채용 여부에 대하여 고찰하고자 한다. 미래의 인재상은 4가지로서, 유연한 개척형인재, 융합 협업형인재, 창조적 정보조합형인재, 감성적 교감형인재를 제시하였으며, 이에 대하여 설문조사를 통하여 채용방식이 각 인재상에 미치는 영향을 고찰하여 향후 채용방식의 발전적 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 정부주도로 학력이 아닌 직무능력 중심의 블라인드 채용문화를 확산시키고 있는 흐름을 반영하고, 기존 서류 중심의 온라인 채용 프로세스의 한계를 극복하기 위하여 원격 온라인 인력 채용을 위한 새로운 동영상 면접시스템 구조 설계안을 제안하고 이를 기반으로 시작품 개발 및 성능실험을 통해 효용성을 검증하고자 하였다. 제안하는 원격 동영상 면접시스템은 맞춤형 잡 매칭 및 원격 잡 코칭이 가능하도록 지능형 웹 기술을 융합하여 설계하였고, 이를 통해 구인기업의 채용비용 및 구직자의 기회비용이 절감될 수 있도록 구성하였다. 본 연구에서 도출된 설계 사양 및 시작품 개발 결과를 바탕으로 향후 공공 및 민간 채용시장에서 필요한 온라인 면접시스템 기술로서 상용화된다면 능력 중심 채용문화 정착을 위한 실용적인 온라인 채용 솔루션으로 활용이 기대될 수 있다.

NADPH Oxidase 4-mediated Alveolar Macrophage Recruitment to Lung Attenuates Neutrophilic Inflammation in Staphylococcus aureus Infection

  • When the lungs are infected with bacteria, alveolar macrophages (AMs) are recruited to the site and play a crucial role in protecting the host by reducing excessive lung inflammation. However, the regulatory mechanisms that trigger the recruitment of AMs to lung alveoli during an infection are still not fully understood. In this study, we identified a critical role for NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) in the recruitment of AMs during Staphylococcus aureus lung infection. We found that NOX4 knockout (KO) mice showed decreased recruitment of AMs and increased lung neutrophils and injury in response to S. aureus infection compared to wildtype (WT) mice. Interestingly, the burden of S. aureus in the lungs was not different between NOX4 KO and WT mice. Furthermore, we observed that depletion of AMs in WT mice during S. aureus infection increased the number of neutrophils and lung injury to a similar level as that observed in NOX4 KO mice. Additionally, we found that expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM1) in NOX4 KO mice-derived lung endothelial cells was lower than that in WT mice-derived endothelial cells. Therefore, we conclude that NOX4 plays a crucial role in inducing the recruitment of AMs by controlling ICAM1 expression in lung endothelial cells, which is responsible for resolving lung inflammation during acute S. aureus infection.

임상연구의 효과적인 대상자 모집 전략 - 기능성 소화불량증 임상시험 자료에 대한 분석 - (Effective Recruitment Strategies in Clinical Trials : An analysis of methods used in functional dyspepsia clinical trial)

  • Objectives : While the proportion of clinical trials is increasing in oriental medical research, no studies in recruitment strategies exist. This study was conducted to investigate which recruitment strategy was efficient to increase the number of potential subject and to reduce cost. Methods : Data from 179 callers in a single-center between June 22 and August 12, 2010 were analyzed. Results : We found that daily newspaper and free newspaper advertisement collected maximal participants. Advertisements in the hospital and on the Internet were considered as the most cost-effective methods. Conclusions : Intensive multiple overlapping recruitment strategies might be effective in success of participant registration in a clinical trial.

채용시장 직무와 역량 간 미스매치 해소를 위한 플랫폼 개발 (Development of a Platform to resolve the Mismatch between Job and Competence in Recruitment Market)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a recruiting platform resolving the mismatch between corporate job and job finder's competence in recruitment market. For this, we investigated technological trends and limitation on recruit platform. Based on the findings, this study investigates the trends and directions related to recruiting platform evolution and identified critical success factors and development strategies for successful development of recruiting platform. Two development strategies include employment of online resume and construction of database assessing job finder's competence. We also proposed target system architecture incorporating job database, competency assessment form, capability oriented resume. To analyze user requirement national competency standards and core job capability evaluation model were analyzed. Next, we designed integrated database, user interfaces, and dynamic functionalities using the forms developed in earlier stage. Finally, we assessed the fidelity of form item, integrity of database, and the usability of interface to evaluate the effectiveness of the system.
