  • A phase retrieval method using an error reduction algorithm is developed for reconstructing a wavefront aberration of an 100-TW Ti:sapphire laser pulse from the measurement of a focal spot. The phase retrieval method can successfully reconstruct a wavefront aberration of a 100-TW Ti:sapphire laser pulse, and the reconstructed wavefront aberration shows a good agreement with the wavefront aberration measured with a wavefront sensor. The effect of the dynamic range and the intensity noise on the reconstruction is also investigated in reconstructing a wavefront aberration of an 100-TW Ti:sapphire laser pulse.

  • In this paper, a conventional simulated annealing (SA) method for optimization of a kinoform computer generated hologram (CGH) is analyzed and the SA method is modified to reduce a reconstruction error rate (ER) of the CGH. The dependences of the quantization level of the hologram pattern and the size of the data on the ER are analyzed. To overcome saturation of the ER, the conventional SA method is modified as it magnifies a Fourier-transformed pattern in the intermediate step. The proposed method can achieve a small ER less than 1%, which is impossible in the conventional SA method.

  • In most engineering problems the output of linear system could be expressed by a con-volution of finite input and impulse response. In this paper, the deconvolution algorithm based on the reconstruction of residue polynomials to get a convolution factor, impvlse response or system input, were considered. Two techniques, using a matrix and Euclid's algorithm were discussed. In the illustrated examples, the result showed high accuracy about 10-10 RMS error.

  • In this paper, we propose a scalable high-quality speech reconstruction method for distributed speech recognition (DSR). It is difficult to reconstruct speech of high quality with MFCCs at the DSR server. Depending on the bit-rate available by the DSR system, we can send additional information associated with speech coding to the DSR sorrel, where the bit-rate is variable from 4.8 kbit/s to 11.4 kbit/s. The experimental results show that the speech quality reproduced by the proposed method when the bit-rate is 11.4 kbit/s is comparable with that of ITU-T G.729 under both ideal channel and frame error channel conditions while the performance of DSR is maintained to that of wireline speech recognition.

  • The Estimation method for spectral reflectance of the object using five-band and nine-band have been developed. The five-band acquisition are required of five or three times same work for color image acquisition process. To solve the above problems, we proposed a new method that can be reconstructed spectral reflectance of object. The proposed method was to classify same hues corresponding a color stimulus, by using hue angle and chroma vector of a color stimulus. The reconstruction of spectral reflectance was examined by computer simulation, and evaluated by MSE(Mean Square Error) and color difference between the original and reconstructed spectral reflectance.

  • The aim of this paper is to design a 3D laser radar prototype based on laser triangulation. The mathematical model of distance sensitivity is deduced; a pixel-distance conversion formula is discussed and used to complete 3D scanning. The center position extraction algorithm of the spot is proposed, and the error of the linear laser, camera distortion and installation are corrected by using the proposed weighted average algorithm. Finally, the three-dimensional analytic computational algorithm is given to transform the measured distance into point cloud data. The experimental results show that this 3D laser radar can accomplish the 3D object scanning and the environment 3D reconstruction task. In addition, the experiment result proves that the product of the camera focal length and the baseline length is the key factor to influence measurement accuracy.

  • This paper proposes a robust, simple zonal wavefront-estimation method in a grid sampling model. More slopes are added to the integral equation of the algorithm to improve the accuracy and convergence rate of this approach, especially for higher-order optical aberrations. The Taylor theorem is applied to clarify the mathematical description of the remaining error in the proposed method. Several numerical simulations are conducted to ensure the performance and improvement in comparison to the Southwell and previous algorithm. An experiment is also conducted according to deflectometry output and the results are verified using a reference measured with a stylus system.

  • 1. Objectives The Face is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Constitution. We are developing 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) to analyse the facial characteristics. This apparatus show us 3D image and data of man's face and measure facial figure data. So we should examine the figure restoration error of 3D Automatic Fare Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) in hardware Error Analysis. 2. Methods We scanned Face status by using 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA). And also we scanned Face status by using laser scanner(vivid 9i). We compared facial shape data be restored by 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) with facial shape data that be restorated by 3D laser scanner. And we analysed the average error and the maximum error of two data. 3. Results and Conclusions In frontal face, the average error was 0.48mm. and the maximum error was 4.60mm. In whole face, the average error of was 0.99mm. And the maximum error was 6.64mm. In conclusion, We assessed that accuracy of 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) is considerably good.

  • An image resolution enhancement is mainly utilized as pre-processing technique for various image processing application. It requires to decrease image quality deterioration such as blurring. In this paper, we propose an image resolution enhancement algorithm using low level interpolation. In the proposed algorithm, we calculate an error using low level interpolation, estimate an error image from the calculated error. The estimated error image is added interpolated high resolution image, it become lastly reconstruction image. Our experiments obtained the average PSNR about 1dB which is improved results better than conventional method for sensitive image quality. Also, subjective image quality with edge region is more clearness. The proposed method may be helpful for applications in various multimedia systems such as image restoration.

  • In the communications systems with diversity, we are commonly faced on needing of new source coding technique, error resilient coding. The error resilient coding addresses the coding algorithm that has the robustness to unreliability of communications channel. In recent years, many error resilient coding techniques were proposed such as data partitioning, resynchronization, error detection, concealment, reference picture selection and multiple description coding (MDC). Especially, the MDC using correlating transform explicitly adds correlation between two descriptions to enable the estimation of one set from the other. However, in the conventional correlating transform method, there is a critical problem that decoder must know statistics of original image. In this paper, we propose an enhanced method, the MDC using whitening transform that is not necessary additional statistical information to decode image because the DCT coefficients to apply whitening transform to an image have uni-variance statistics. Our experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a good trade-off between the coding efficiency and the reconstruction quality. In the proposed method, the PSNR of images reconstructed from two descriptions is about 0.7dB higher than conventional method at the 1.0 BPP and from only one description is about 1,8dB higher at the same rate.
