Q-methodology provides a scientific method for identifying perception structures that exist within certain individuals or groups. Thirty C college nursing students' classified 35 selected Q-statements into 9 points standard, according to the level of agreement or disagreement by forced normal distribution. The collected data was analyzed by using a QUNAL PC program. Resultingly, the attitude of nursing students regarding complementary alternative therapy was divided into three types. Type 1 is positive recognition. The students who think the therapy contributes to maintaining and improving health, and is a way to protect human body and improve welfare by enhancing immunity. Type 2 is objective acceptance. The students who think the complementary alternative therapy is effective when it is properly used for specific constitutions in discussion with medical teams after its effects are scientifically reviewed. Type 3 is popularity consideration. The students who put focus on its popular use and regard the therapy as very useful for not only patients but also ordinary healthy people because it is based on the natural and human approach. • In the present study, we investigated ability of recognition of auditory perception with regards to the quality of voice in postlingual CI adults and proposed a training program to improve within subject reliability. A prospective case-control study was conducted in adults with 7 postlingual deaf who received a CI surgery and 10 normal hearing controls. The pre and post test and training program included parameters of consensus auditory-perceptual evaluation of voice(CAPE-V) with pathological voice sample by using Alvin. In results of pre-post test for monitoring improvements of internal reliability for listeners via the training program, there was statistically significant difference in both test and group. There was statistically significant difference in internal reliability between pre-post test in the normal hearing group, the result was no significant in the CI group. The present study found that CI adults showed less ability in awareness of voice quality compared to normal hearing group. Also the training program improved pitch and loudness in CI adults.

  • Children develop emotional intelligence during the early years of life, and according to experts, emotional intelligence(EI) is a more reliable predictor of academic achievement than IQ. However, nowadays children appear to be low on emotional well-being. This has potentially negative consequences, not only for academic achievement but also for personal relationships. The purpose of this study was to develop emotional education program for young children(EEPYC). In this study, EI is defined to carry out reasoning in regard to emotions and to use emotion for enhancement of thought. Designed to facilitate development of young children's EI. EEPYC is based on the four branch model, which is mental EI model and based on the guiding principle of Collaborative to Advance Social and Emotional Learning. The subgroups(curricular) that compose EEPYC are Emotional Perception, appraisal, and expression, Self-recognition program, Self-esteem program, Emotional Stress Regulation, Emotional problem solving & conflict resolution. EEPYC has the potential of fostering emotional intelligence. Moreover, EEPYC can promote a motivation, prosocial activity, and regulation of stress. This helps young children to develope cognition and emotion in harmonious fashion.

  • This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of improving indoor environmental awareness, relieving stress, and improving learning efficiency in school indoor green space, and suggest desirable ways to develop indoor green space in the future. As part of the study, a survey was conducted among 225 individuals across six schools in a metropolitan area with garden and panel-type indoor gardens inside the school building. The survey comprised the current status and use of indoor green spaces, the perception of indoor green spaces, improvement measures in indoor green spaces, and basic properties. Semantic Differential (SD) was used to investigate the impression of school indoor spaces. Resultantly, the more frequent the use of green spaces in the school, the more they feel the positive effects of indoor green spaces, such as improving the school's indoor environment, reducing stress, and improving learning efficiency. In addition, it appears that the more frequent contact with the natural environment, the more they feel the positive effects provided by indoor green space at school. Therefore, it is suggested that educational conditions must be improved by revitalizing various green welfare, including indoor green areas, at the school level.

  • The government has defined domestic violence as one of the four major social evils and tried to prepare laws and systems to prevent it. Nevertheless, domestic violence has emerged as a serious social issue, and compare to the number of domestic violence cases that are constantly increasing, the report rate of domestic violence is significantly lower. This suggests the need to improve citizens' perception of domestic violence as the issue to solve it together in society, not as a private matter at home. Most of existing contents for preventing domestic violence and improving awareness are simple viewing forms of video contents, which have little effect on recognition. We aim to confirm the possibility of improving social awareness about domestic violence by producing Virtual Reality (VR) contents that have great features of user's immersion and empathy. In this VR content, the user can interact with various objects in the virtual reality of domestic violence and directly or indirectly experience the victim's position. Users who view the violent environment from the victim's point of view can have a subjective empathy for the problem, which is expected to induce more active awareness about domestic violence.

  • Although it is well documented that patients with cochlear implant experience hearing difficulties when processing their first language, very little is known whether or not and to what extent cochlear implant patients recognize segments in a second language. This preliminary study examines how Korean learners of English identify English segments in a normal hearing and cochlear implant simulation conditions. Participants heard English vowels and consonants in the following three conditions: normal hearing condition, 12-channel noise vocoding with 0mm spectral shift, and 12-channel noise vocoding with 3mm spectral shift. Results confirmed that nonnative listeners could also retrieve spectral information from vocoded speech signal, as they recognized vowel features fairly accurately despite the vocoding. In contrast, the intelligibility of manner and place features of consonants was significantly decreased by vocoding. In addition, we found that spectral shift affected listeners' vowel recognition, probably because information regarding F1 is diminished by spectral shifting. Results suggest that patients with cochlear implant and normal hearing second language learners would experience different patterns of listening errors when processing their second language(s).

  • This study was conducted to investigate the nurses' recognition extent of nursing power and related factors. It was performed in a private university hospital using questionaire papers from Jul. 11 to Jul. 20, 1993. The collected data were in number of 209, and they were handled and analyzed by computer program (SPSS). Through above process, we got meaningful results as follow. 1. The factor concerned with whether the nursing department show its independent power or not was 4.1 on an average. Consequently above results showed that the independent power roles as a important factor. The factor concerned with study and research was 3.9 on an average. So that the extension of learning was also a comparatively important nursing power. But ensuring good material environment was merely 1.6 on an average. So it was understood as less important nursing power. 2. Between the factor concerned with enforcement of independence of nursing department and the factor concerned with extension of learning, there was positive correlation of 0.32 Pearson's Correlation Coefficent. It can be interpreted as the effort of extension of learning go side by side with the showing of independent power of nursing department. As a result the power of nursing become strong. And between the factor concerned with enforcenment of independence of nursing department and the ensuring o(good material environment, there was negative correlation of -0.28 Pearson's Correaltion Coefficint. It can be interpreted as the stronger the independent power of nursing, the more overlooked the recognized of material environment of nurses.
