  • This paper presents study of recloser operation in distribution system with Energy Storage System(ESS). However, interconnecting of ESS influence power flow and increasing/decreasing of fault current. Recloser provides stability of system and improves power transmitting ability by reclosing in fault current. The single-line to ground fault current simulated by Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP). The simulation is implemented for the three different situations about by using EMTP MODELS.

  • The Co-Gen System which maximize energy efficiency was installed at the industrial plants at the initial stage. However Small Scale Co-Gen System was expanded even to the general end-users such as housing and building owing to ESCO business recently. For this SSC, inter-connected operation to the utility is desirable due to voltage and frequency fluctuation following to unbalance between power output and load. Then voltage unbalance with utility system, frequency, increase of short circuit capacity, reclosing, and ALTS etc. should be fully considered for the inter-connected operation. Voltage variation, protection coordination, Co-Generators single running, and short circuit capacity should also be solved. To research the method and solve the problems through the field test and application, we study individual customers Co-Gen System as a case study.

Analysis of Characteristics on the High-speed SFCL According to Single Line-ground-fault in the Reclosing Operation (재폐로 동작시 1선 지락사고에 따른 고속도 초전도 한류기의 특성 분석)

  • This paper proposed an high-speed superconducting fault current limiter (H-SFCL). The proposed H-SFCL functioned the initial fault current could be covered by the SFCL and the continued fault current after the one-cycle from fault occurrence could be controlled current-limiting-element of the normal conduction. To investigate the operation characteristics of the H-SFCL, a simulation power system was constructed, and a single line-to-ground fault was occurred. As a result, the H-SFCL limited the fault current by more than about 70%, and it was confirmed that the electric power burden was reduced compared to the SFCL that consisted only of superconductors.

For Con-Gen users, the several protection relays are recommended to install at the user's main incoming panel by the guide lines and/or instructions of the interconnected utility Then user's main CB(Circuit Breaker) have the chance to be tripped by some of this recommended relays and users have to undergo the unexpected blackout. So the circuit breaker trip schemes targeted to trip with these protection relays are reconsidered and the study result is hereunder proposed.
