  • The primary objective of this study is to examine differences between the persons with recent onset and chronic mental illness in their family function; and analyze factors influence on the family function. The independent variables are divided into four sets: socio-economic, clinical, familial, and social characteristics. The subjects of this study are the 628 with mental disorders, and the sample was selected in Pusan and Gyeong-nam area. The findings of this study can be summarized as followed: The family with chronic mental illness showed higher family function in comparison with recent onset. Result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis show that age of onset, difference between ideal and reality in family function variable only influenced family function for the recent onset group, and activities of daily living, difference between ideal and reality in family function, caregiver's health, community support variables influenced family function for the chronic group. The results suggest a need for using different treatment approaches for recent onset versus chronic mentally disabled families. Implications for mental health social work practice for family with disabled are suggested.

  • The present paper gives a review of the recent development of a differential mobility analyzer (DMA) available for both particle size measurements and production of monodisperse particles in the nanometer range. Operating principles of a general DMA are introduced as well as characteristics of highly functional DMAs such as those capable of classifying particles in a measurement range as broad as 1-1000nm at low pressures. Some examples of DMA applications are also described.

  • Although antiarrhythmic medication has been the main treatment modality for arrhythmia in children, in recent decades technological development and computerization have made great advances in nonpharmacological therapy. This article reviews the transcatheter radiofrequency ablation for tachycardia in children, recent advances of device therapy for bradycardia, antitachycardia pacing, implantable cardioverter defibrillator. As a new field of device therapy, cardiac resynchronization therapy for congestive heart failure is also mentioned.

  • Photosensitive amorphous materials are attractive for the formation of several optical elements by a specific laser beam irradiation. For example the optical fiber gratings prepared by UV laser irradiation are one of the key elements for the recent worldwide progress of wavelength division mutiplexing optical fiber network. This paper reviews the representative studies on the photosensitive materials and the origin of photosensitivity in amorphous oxide materials.

  • Hygienic Science is the science for the maintenance and the improvement of human health. Every investigation of hygienic science is originated from practical human life and the fruits of every studies should be recovered and utilized finally by social life. The planning, implementation, evaluation must be carried out by unbiased idea in view of four main aspects in Fig. 1. In the center of that figure you can put any problems that you concern if it is related to health sciences. Today. I want to mention the problem in food and environmental contaminants, referring to some recent status of may country.

  • After a short description of the telescope, we will report on the recent developments in three main areas: - Commissioning of the last of LBT's first generation instruments, now well underway, - Adaptive Optics (AO) and ground-layer AO progress and planned upgrades, - Interferometry first science results. We will also explore the future of the facility as it moves to full operation and strive to be the first of the ELTs in the decade-long window in which GMT, TMT, and E-ELT break ground and start taking shape.

  • Based on the technical innovation of the recent communication system technologies, systems are linked by the worldwide network. We introduce some examples of the multimedia network systems. Especially, we introduce our recent attempt to realize the multimedia tele-surgery system using high speed optical fiber network. At first, we shows the technical problems of the multimedia tele-surgery. We applied this idea to the intravascular neurosurgery. System configuration for the prototype experiments and experimental results are shown.

  • Digital holography is generally regarded as one of the most possible candidates for achieving a real 3D display system in that it can fully record and reconstruct the wave characteristics of light. In addition, 3D display systems based on digital holographic technology do not cause a vergence-accommodation mismatch problem. In this report, the recent trends in digital holographic display technology are described, and recent research results related to the fields of augmented reality and virtual reality are also briefly reported.

  • Digital holography is a computational operation and photo-electronic technology that enables calculating, encoding, and reconstructing a 3D scene based on the interference of a coherent light-wave field. The spatial light modulator in a holographic 3D display decodes a computer-generated hologram to optically regenerate a 3D scene in various depths, thus facilitating to match convergence and accommodation of the human eyes. This paper introduces recent technologies related with the content for digital holography called an ultimate 3D display.
