To the purpose of preparation for investigating aspect of material that not revealed by the light microscope and extending our knowledge in applicable field, a scanning acoustic microscope system of 200MHz was organized and appraised its performance with experiments. Professor N.CHUBACHI in Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan provided the ZnO transducer with lens. The system for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic pulses of 200nsec was organized with a rectangular audio wave generator for modulation of 200MHz carrier wave, gating system for transmitting and receiving, mixer for converting intermediate frequency, a directional coupler, ZnO transducer, radio frequency amplifiers. detecter and personal computer. The Scanning system was driven in micro steps with three stepping motors in the direction of x, y and z axes. The system was a reflecting type scanning acoustic microscope and the operation program processed graphics data from receiving echo intensities. Photograph of fish scale obtained by optical microscope was compared with its image by the scanning acoustic microscope organized here. The result was satisfiable.
As the accidents of cargo and passenger carrying ships occur, the stress faced by the vessel users is increasing. The risk factors for accident deterioration in remote marine area are stronger than those in road accidents, and therefore the need for safety control is greatly emphasized. To overcome such issue, a lot of effort has been made in terms of conducting research and development of the passengers and freights location tracking system. However, the inner bulkhead structures are made of aluminum/steel which is a difficult material to transfer location information through. This study aims to measure the receiving rate of LoRaWAN signal inside the aluminum/steel bulkhead structures with variation in reception strength and distance. The test was taken place at platforms with 6T and 8T enclosures to reflect the same conditions found in fishery patrol boats. The receiving rate of through-the-wall communication at 10M distance turned out to be 86% in case of using two 6T enclosures, and 73% in case of using one 8T enclosure. The result showed that the receiving rate was more affected by the thickness rather than the number of enclosures.
The purpose of this study is to examine the feeding and nutritional status of enteral tube-fed elderly patients. Subjects included 77 elderly hospitalized patients who had received enteral nutrition more than one week before admission. Medical records on admission and actual feeding volume were used to assess anthropometric, biochemical, and nutritional status. Most patients manifested disorders of the nervous system (93.5%) and the average duration of tube feeding was 13.9 months. The average feeding volume of formula was 1,107 mL per day and the mean ratios of calorie and protein (supplied vs. required) were 81.7% and 80.9%, respectively. At admission, 57.4% of the patients were malnourished according to the institutional criteria. Patients receiving less than 80% of the required calories were in worse nutritional status compared with those receiving more than 80% of the required calories. Body mass index, percent ideal body weight, serum albumin level and blood lipid levels (total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride) were significantly lower in patients receiving less than 80% of the required calories. These results indicate the high prevalence of malnutrition and the need for increased attention and nutritional care of elderly patients undergoing long-term enteral nutrition.

In this paper, an active antenna for terrestrial DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) repeater is designed. This active antenna is consist of receiving antenna and LNA(Low Noise Amplifier), A receiving antenna fed by using a microstrip line and radiation part is designed with rectangular spiral structure. An receiving antenna with frequency range of 162$\sim$212MHz, gain of -10dBi and LNA with gain of 20dBi, noise figure of 2.2 at frequency range for T-DMB are achieved.
Two receiving systems were established at the Asian Center for Research on Remote Sensing (ACRoRS) to receive remote sensing data from NOAA AVHRR and Terra/Aqua MODIS sensors in October 1997 and May 2001, respectively. The data, which has been received in the research center, are very important to support and promote the remote sensing research activities for global environmental issues in Asia. Since the day of the establishment, many research and applications, which used these data, have been conducted. The data sets have been provided to researchers and users in many countries in the region to conduct research, to strengthen the research collaboration and education.
In excavating tunnels, shield tunneling machines having many cutters on their cutter planes are used. Not many observation data being available in the detection system, optimal observation policy is very important. From this viewpoint, we previously considered the optimal location of acoustic sensors on the cutter plane and also the optimal observation policy for the case where three receiving transducers were used, and showed that the optimal sensor location was given as arbitrary equally-spaced points on the cutter plane circle, and that the optimal rotating angles were also found to be arbitrary. In application, however, it is often difficult to locate sensors at arbitrary positions or to use three sensors from the viewpoints of machine structure and cost. This paper considers the optimal observation policy for detecting anomlous plane objects for the case where two receiving transducers are used and the case where three receiving transducers are located only on a diameter of the cutter plane.

Wireless power transmission (WPT) is useful technology in near future. There are some kinds of the WPT technologies, WPT via radio waves, resonance coupling, and inductive. Especially the WPT via radio waves is used for multi-purposes from short range to long range application. However, unfortunately it is misunderstood that it is low efficiency and low power. In this paper, I show the theory of beam efficiency between transmitting antennas and receiving antennas and also show some high efficient applications of the WPT via radio waves. Especially, I pick up a wireless power charging system of an electric vehicle and show the experimental results. I show difference between the theory of beam efficiency and the experimental results of short range WPT. I indicate that reasons of poor beam efficiency in the experiment are (1) change of impedance caused by mutual coupling between transmitting antennas and receiving antennas, (2) oblique direction of microwave power to receiving antennas caused by short distance.

This paper presents two dimensional receiving coils to provide hundreds of milli-watt power via inductive link to in vivo robotic capsules, whose orientation are practically undetermined. The wireless power transmission system consists of a transmitter powered by class E power amplifier, and a receiver with three dimensional antenna, rectifier, and voltage regulator. As the 2D lateral antenna construction is more critical for the receiving antenna, two types of 2D antennas are introduced and evaluated by theoretic and experimental analyses. Experimental results verifies that the cross-type construction show better directional performance for receiving power than the cylindrical one for the 2D antenna. The former could deliver the power homogeneously regardless of its orientation, with less than 20 % of variation from the possible maximum power.

It is now common practice to utilize the quadrature RF coils to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) System. In addition, to make such an available SNR improvement, it is mandatory to use a well-designed quadrature coupler, which facilitates a perfect 3-dB coupling and quadrature-phase shift. However, the four ports matching condition has to be well considered during the RF excitation and the signal detection period. This work investigates the effects of such a mismatching condition (especially, due to patient) from the analysis, simulation, and real implementation and firstly proposes dynamic loading technique for a quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module to minimize a patient mismatching and enhance a system reliability. Also, we designed and implemented the quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module using microstrip. As a result, the SNR of our MRI system using the microstrip quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module with dynamic load increases 3 dB compared with the old one using USA quadrature switch. Also, the power capability of quadrature coupler and transmitting/receiving switch module is 5-kw peak power. Considering power loss and reduction of size, we used a RT/duroid 6010 substrate with high permittivity and for simulation we use Compact Software.
A optical system of a movile LIDAR is designed for air pollution research. After the inverse Cassegrain type collimator, the laser beam falls on the mirror which serve for coinciding optical axis of laser beam and the receiving telescope. Then, it is directed into the atmosphere and back scattered radiation back to the receiving telescope by the scanning mirror. The unit of scanning mirror allows to rotate the mirror along the altitude 0$^{\circ}$~60$^{\circ}$, and the azimuth 0$^{\circ}$~360$^{\circ}$. The scanning mirror is not connected with the receiving telescope but placed on the roof of the mobile. The received beam is spatial filtered by a spatial filter and collimated by a fabric lens. Thereafter, the beam is devided into 2 channel for registration by a beam splitter. Each laser beam is transformed into an electrical signal by means of the photomultifier and then processed to be analyzed.
