Adaptive Forward Error Correction Scheme for Real-Time Communication in Satellite IP Networks

  • In this paper, a new forward error correction (FEC) protocol is proposed for point-to-multipoint satellite links. Link-layer error control protocols in point-to-multipoint satellite links impose several problems such as unreliability and receiver-heterogeneity. To resolve the problem of heterogeneous error rates at different receivers, the proposed scheme exploits multiple multicast channels to which each receiver tunes. The more channels a receiver tunes to, the more powerful error correcting capability it achieves. Based on its own channel condition, each receiver tunes to as many channels as it needs, which prevents from receiving unwanted parities. Furthermore, each receiver saves the decoding time, processing overhead, and processing energy. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme guarantees the target PER while saving energy. The proposed technique is highly adaptive to the channel variation with respect to the throughput efficiency, and provides scalable PER and throughput efficiency.

  • The assorting process in distribution center is one of the most difficult and time-consuming process. The improvement of assorting productivity is a core element which decides efficiency of a distribution center. The time to shipping from receiving depends on assorting such as sorting by customer. To enhance efficiency of assorting typically uses the put to light system composed of computer and digital indicator etc. Generally the layout of put to light system has been performed rather than scientific analysis by a common experience. Therefore, this study analyzes the impact of assorting performance by the number of aisle in assorting process of put to light system.

  • 본 논문에서는 직사각형 도파관내에 놓여 있는 동축선으로 급전되는 사각형 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나의 입력 임피던스를 공진기 모델 및 안테나에 의해 여기되는 도파관내의 전송 모드로부터 이론적으로 계산하였다. 자유공간과 도파관내에서 패치 안테나의 급전 위치에 따른 return loss 및 효율을 계산하여 비교하였으며 최대 효율을 얻을 수 있는 급전점이 자유공간과 도파관에서 차이가 있음을 보였다.

Contactless Power Charger for Light Electric Vehicles Featuring Active Load Matching

  • Contactless power transfer technology is gaining increasing attention in city transportation applications because of its high mobility and flexibility in charging and its commensurate power level with conductive power transfer method. In this study, an inductively coupled contactless charging system for a 48 V light electric vehicle is proposed. Although this study does not focus on system efficiency, the generic problems in an inductively coupled contactless power transfer system without ferromagnetic structure are discussed. An active load matching method is also proposed to control the power transfer on the receiving side through a load matching converter. Small signal modeling and linear control technology are applied to the load matching converter for port voltage regulation, which effectively controls the power flow into the load. A prototype is built, and experiments are conducted to reveal the intrinsic characteristics of a series-series resonant inductive power charger in terms of frequency, air gap length, power flow control, coil misalignment, and efficiency issues.

Investigation of the effects of common and separate ground systems in wireless power transfer

  • This article presents an investigation of the effects on a grounding system of wireless power transfer (WPT) when transmitting over relatively far distances, that is, up to 1.25 m. Conventional two-coil WPT systems are sufficiently commercialized in strong coupling range, but it is important to accomplish the long-range WPT in weak coupling range for further various applications. This system depends on the coupling effect between the two coils that the grounds of the transmitting and receiving coils should be completely separated. However, when evaluating the performance of two-coil systems with the instrument consisting of two ports and one common ground, undesirable problems occur in weak coupling ranges, for example, obtaining disagreeable transmission efficiency and degrading system stability/reliability. We investigate the problems of the leakage power from common ground systems and provide a practical solution to obtain a reliable WPT system by using an isolation transformer. The usefulness of this approach is that it is possible to achieve the stability of the system with relatively far transmitting distances and to determine the exact transmission efficiency.

유무선 통합 인트라넷 환경에서 데이터 전송 성능 측정 및 분석 (Measurement and Analysis of Performance to Transfer Data in a Wireless-Cum-Wired Intra-Network)

  • 고속 무선 랜 환경에서 PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)를 이용한 멀티미디어 데이터 전송 시스템의 성능을 측정하고 분석하기 위하여, 음성 데이터론 송 수신할 수 있는 보이스 메신저 시스템(VMS, Voice Messenger System)을 설계하고 구현하였다. VMS는 IEEE 802.11b 표준(2.4GHz 대역폭)의 무선 인트라넷과 일반 이더넷인 유선 인터넷을 통합하는 인프라스트럭처(Infrastructure) 네트워크로 구성되었다. 음성 데이터를 일정한 패킷 크기(256∼6656바이트)로 나누어 전송하면서 송$.$수신시간 및 RTT(Round- Trip Time)를 측정하였다. 또한 CF 방식과 PCMCIA 방식의 무선 NIC 중 어느 것이 무선 랜 환경에서 더 안정적인지 실험해 보았다. 실험 결과 PCDCIA 방식이 CF 방식보다 더 효과적이며 안정적임을 확인하였다. 한편 무선 NIC를 장착한 노트북 컴퓨터를 VMS클라이언트로 사용할 경우 음성 데이터 송$.$수신 시 전송 패킷 크기에 상관없이 일정한 성능을 보였다. 그러나 PDA 클라이언트의 경우, 데이터 수신 시에는 패킷 크기가 6656바이트일 때, 송신 시에는 패킷 크기가 4096바이트일 때 전송 효율이 가장 좋았다. 같은 전송 패킷 크기를 사용할 경우에도 PDA클라이언트가 VMS 서버로부터 패킷온 수신하는 데 걸리는 시간이 PDA클라이언트가 VMS 서버에게 송신하는 데 걸리는 시간보다 더 오래 걸렸다. 따라서 PDA를 VMS 클라이언트로 사용한 경우 송$\cdot$수신별로 각기 다른 전송 패킷 크기를 적용한다면 보다 나은 전송 성능을 얻을 수 있다.

우수저류조의 형상과 도류벽 및 자갈채움에 따른 SS 제거효율 (SS Removal-rate Efficiency of Storm-water Detention Storage Tank Depending upon Length, Inside Training Wall and Gravel Filling)

  • An experimental study is performed on reducing the pollutants supplied by storm water through enhancing efficiency of SS from the detention storage tank where CSOs are kept temporarily before discharge to the receiving water system. SS removal efficiency is investigated in accordance with various conditions of the detention pond-such as its length, the existence of training wall, and the use of gravel filling. The removal efficiency is strongly affected by the detention pond's length until the critical falling distance of the suspended solids is reached. For cases where the tank has a length longer than this critical condition, the removal rate shows less sensitivity. To enhance the SS removal efficiency of tanks of shorter than the critical length, we studied alternative types of tank in which inside training walls are installed. The results showed improvement of 14 to 37% in removal efficiency in 2hours detention(2 training walls). The important factor in achieving a high SS removal rate is ensuring the critical length of the detention pond, but for the cases where the basin length cannot be guaranteed, baffles or a gravel filling scheme may be introduced to attain considerable efficiency. The results of studying and comparing different storage tank conditions show that, in terms of elimination efficiency, a storage tank with gravel filling and training walls > a storage tank with gravel filling > a storage tank with training walls > an empty tank. The experimental results should contribute to development of related further research, by empirically verifying the already assumed importance of critical falling distance, training walls, and gravel filling schemes.

결합된 자기공명을 통한 무선에너지 전력 전송 시스템의 회로 해석 (Circuit Model Based Analysis of a Wireless Energy Transfer System via Coupled Magnetic Resonances)

  • 자기공명을 이용한 무선 전력 전송 시스템의 등가회로 모델이 제시되었고, 이를 통한 설계기법이 제안되었다. 두개의 코일로 구성된 간단한 트랜스포머의 등가회로를 확장하는 방법으로 본 시스템의 노드 방정식을 세웠고, 이로부터 효율을 높이기 위한 최적의 코일간 거리를 해석하였다. 손실이 있는 경우의 주파수 특성을 계산하기 위해, 상용 설계 시뮬레이터에 등가회로 모델을 심었다. 실제 시스템의 모델 파라미터를 추출하여 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정결과를 비교하였다. 이 해석으로부터, 자기공명 방식의 무선 전력 전송 시스템이 수 미터의 거리까지 높은 효율을 보일 수 있음을 알 수 있었고, 이때 임피던스 정합이 매우 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 개발된 모델을 통해 공진 코일이 더 많이 있는 경우와 같은, 유사한 시스템의 특성을 예측할 수 있다.

Effect of Levels of Sodium DL-malate Supplementation on Ruminal Fermentation Efficiency of Concentrates Containing High Levels of Cassava Chip in Dairy Steers

  • Four rumen-fistulated dairy steers were randomly assigned according to a $4{\times}4$ Latin square design to investigate effects of supplementation levels of sodium dl-malate in concentrates on rumen ecology, ruminal fermentation, nitrogen balance, feed intake and digestibility of nutrients and ruminal microbial protein synthesis. The dietary treatments were cassava concentrate-based, containing sodium dl-malate supplementation at 0, 9, 18 and 27 g/hd/d with urea-treated rice straw (UTS) fed ad libitum. The experiment was conducted for four periods, each period lasting 21 days. Ruminal pH increased with incremental addition of malate (p<0.05). Additionally, molar proportions of propionate were higher in supplemented groups and was highest at 18 g/hd/d of malate supplement (p<0.05). Microbial protein synthesis tended to be higher in dairy steers receiving sodium dl-malate supplements and also was the highest at 18 g/hd/d. Variable bacterial populations, such as amylolytic, proteolytic and cellulolytic species were increased (p<0.05). Furthermore, protozoal populations were decreased significantly (p<0.05), while fungal zoospores were dramatically increased in dairy steers receiving sodium dl-malate supplement (p<0.05). These results suggested that supplementation of concentrate containing a high level of cassava chip at 18 g/hd/d with UTS in dairy steers could improve rumen fermentation efficiency and rumen microbial protein synthesis.

무선 센서 네트워크에서의 에너지 절감을 위한 SR패킷 MAC 프로토콜에 관한 연구 (A Study on SR Packet MAC Protocol for Energy Saving in Wireless Sensor Network)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크에서의 통신은 여러 계층으로 나뉘어 각 계층별 역할을 수행하므로 무선통신이 가능할 수 있다. 센서 네트워크에서의 통신계층 중 하나인 MAC(Medium Access Control)계층은 데이터의 에러, 흐름을 제어하고 자원을 관리하기 위해서 사용되며 MAC Protocol을 사용하여 센서 노드간의 통신을 보장한다. 본 논문에서는 에너지 효율성 측면을 강조한 S-MAC. T-MAC 프로토콜의 문제점을 알아보고 SYNC 패킷에 RTS 패킷이 추가된 기법을 이용하여 컨트롤 패킷 전송 시간동안 꼭 필요한 노드만 컨트롤 패킷을 송수신하고, 나머지 노드들은 Sleep 함으로써, 모든 노드가 깨어있는 시간을 효율적으로 줄여 에너지 효율성을 강조하였다. SYNC+RTS 패킷을 보내고 패킷을 받는 노드는 순간 자신이 이번 주기 동안 깨어 있을 필요가 없음을 알고 바로 Sleep모드로 들어가서 기존의 MAC프로토콜보다 에너지가 효율적임을 수학적으로 증명하고 MATLAB으로 시뮬레이션 하였다.
