  • In this paper, we show a real-time lightning simulation for smart device game. Our proposed method uses physically based Dielectric Breakdown Model to similar real world lightning path and we simplify the algorithm for real-time simulation in smart device. In addition, the rendering process can render multiple lightning and can real-time render in smart device. Finally, our lightning can support interactive with user. The simulation method will be effectively useful for a game that needs a real-time simulation as its game element in smart device environment.

  • A shared disks (SD) cluster couples multiple computing nodes, and every node shares a common database at the disk level. A great deal of research indicates that the SD cluster is suitable to high performance transaction processing, but the aggregation of SD cluster with real-time processing has not been investigated at all. A real-time transaction has not only ACID properties of traditional transactions but also time constraints. By adopting cluster technology, the real-time services will be highly available and can exploit inter-node parallelism. In this paper, we first develop an experiment model of an SD-based real-time database system (SD-RTDBS). Then we investigate the feasibility of real-time transaction processing in the SD cluster using the experiment model. We also evaluate the cross effect of real-time transaction processing algorithms and SD cluster algorithms under a wide variety of database workloads.

  • Missiles suffer from flight instability problems at high angles of attack, since vortex flow over a fuselage cause lateral force to the body. To overcome this problem at a high angle of attack, the development of a real time vortex controller is needed. In this paper, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and feedback controllers are developed for real time vortex control. The POD method is one of the most well known techniques for modeling low order models that represent the original full-order model. An adaptive control algorithm is used for real time control.

  • Ship handling simulator should have capabilities of calculating ship motions (heave, pitch, and roll) at given sea state and displaying the calculated motions through a real-time 3D visualization system. Motion solver of a ship handling simulator generally calculates those motions in addition to position for an own ship, a main simulation target, but provides only position information for traffic ships. Therefore, it is required to simulate real-time traffic ship and buoy motions coupled with ocean waves in a ship handling simulator for the realistic visualization. In the paper, the authors propose a simple dynamics model by which ship and buoy motions are calculated with the input data of wave height and discuss a method for the implementation of a ship and buoy motions calculation module.

  • This paper describes a process of developing commercial real time image recognition system with company. In this paper we will make a system that is combining an empirical kernel map method and conjugate least squares support vector machine in order to represent images in a low-dimensional subspace for real time image recognition. In the traditional approach calculating these eigenspace models, known as traditional PCA method, model must capture all the images needed to build the internal representation. Updating of the existing eigenspace is only possible when all the images must be kept in order to update the eigenspace, requiring a lot of storage capability. Proposed method allows discarding the acquired images immediately after the update. By experimental results we can show that empirical kernel map has similar accuracy compare to traditional batch way eigenspace method and more efficient in memory requirement than traditional one. This experimental result shows that proposed model is suitable for commercial real time image recognition system.

  • The real-time modeling system, named AirWatch System, has been developed to evaluate the environmental impact from a large source. It consists of stack TMS (TeleMetering System) that measures the emission data from the source, AWS (Automatic Weather Station) that monitors the weather data and computer system with the dispersion modeling software. The modeling theories used in the system are Gaussian plume and puff models. The Gaussian plume model is used for the dispersion in the simple terrain with a point meteorological data while the puff model is for the dispersion in complex terrain with three dimensional wind fields. The AirWatch System predicts the impact of the emitted pollutants from the large source on the near-by environment on the real -time base and the alarm is issued to control the emission rate if the calculated concentrations exceed the modeling significance level.

  • Object tracking in a real time environment is one of challenging subjects in computer vision area during past couple of years. This paper proposes a method of object detection and tracking using adaptive background estimation in real time environment. To obtain a stable and adaptive background, we combine 3-frame differential method and running average single gaussian background model. Using this background model, we can successfully detect moving objects while minimizing false moving objects caused by noise. In the tracking phase, we propose a matching criteria where the weight of position and inner brightness distribution can be controlled by the size of objects. Also, we adopt a Kalman Filter to overcome the occlusion of tracked objects. By experiments, we can successfully detect and track objects in real time environment.

  • The leading source of occupational fatalities is a portable ladder in Korea because it is widely used in industry as work platform. In order to reduce victims, it is necessary to establish preventive measures for the accidents caused by portable ladder. Therefore, this study statistically analyzed injury death by portable ladder for recent 10 years to investigate the accident characteristics. Next, to monitor wearing of safety helmet in real-time while working on a portable ladder, this study developed an object detection model based on the You Only Look Once(YOLO) architecture, which can accurately detect objects within a reasonable time. The model was trained on 6,023 images with/without ladders and safety helmets. The performance of the proposed detection model was 0.795 for F1 score and 0.843 for mean average precision. In addition, the proposed model processed at least 25 frames per second which make the model suitable for real-time application.

  • In real-time communication services, delay constraints are among the most important QoS (Quality of Service) factors. In particular, it is difficult to guarantee the delay requirement over wireless channels, since they exhibit dynamic time-varying behavior and even severe burst-errors during periods of deep fading. Channel throughput may be increased, but at the cost of the additional delays when ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request) schemes are used. For real-time communication services, it is very essential to predict data deliverability. This paper derives the delay distribution and the successful delivery probability within a given delay budget using a priori channel model and a posteriori information from the perspective of queueing theory. The Gilbert-Elliot burst-noise channel is employed as an a Priori channel model, where a two-state Markov-modulated Bernoulli process $(MMBP_2)$ is used. for a posteriori information, the channel parameters, the queue-length and the initial channel state are assumed to be given. The numerical derivation is verified and analyzed via Monte Carlo simulations. This numerical derivation is then applied to a rate control scheme for real-time video transmission, where an optimal encoding rate is determined based on the future channel capacity and the distortion of the reconstructed pictures.

  • The scheduling methods of the distributed real-time systems have been proposed. However, they have some weak points. They did not schedule both sporadic and periodic tasks and messages at the same time or did not consider the end-to-end constraints such as precedence relations between sporadic tasks. This means that system scheduling must guarantee the constraints of practical systems and be applicable to them. This paper proposes a new scheduling method that can be applied to more practical model of distributed real-time systems. System model consists of sporadic and periodic tasks with precedence relations and sporadic and periodic messages and has end-to-end constraints. The proposed method is based on a binary search-based period assignment algorithm, an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm, and three kinds of schedulability analysis, node, network, and end-to-end schedulability analysis. In addition, this paper describes the application model of sporadic tasks with precedence constraints in a distributed real-time system, shows that existing scheduling methods such as Rate Monotonic scheduling are not proper to be applied to the system having sporadic tasks with precedence constraints, and proposes an end-to-end laxity-based priority assignment algorithm.
