  • KEPRI successfully developed and installed RTDS(Real-Time Digital Simulator) during March 2001. The simulator will be used to study interactive simulation of electromagnetic & electromechanical and validation of protective & control systems. In this paper. the authors will present an overview of real-time digital simulator and its characteristic features. Special emphasis will be placed to the installation test results. This paper also addresses some key issues on the accuracy, reliability flexibility and its practical uses for real-time power simulation.

  • Driving simulators provide engineers with a power tool in the development and modification stages of vehicle models. One of the most important factors to realistic simulations is the fidelity obtained by a motion bed and a real-time visual image generation algorithm. Virtual reality technology has been widely used to enhance the fidelity of vehicle simulators. This paper develops the virtual environment for such visual system as head-mounted display for a vehicle driving simulator. Virtual vehicle and environment models are constructed using the object-oriented analysis and design approach. Based on the object model, a three-dimensional graphic model is completed with CAD tools such as Rhino and Pro/ENGINEER. For real-time image generation, the optimized IRIS Performer 3D graphics library is embedded with the multi-thread methodology. The developed software for a virtual driving simulator offers an effective interface to virtual reality devices.

  • An ACC driving simulator is a virtual reality device which designed to test or evaluate vehicle control algorithm. It is designed and built based on the rapid control prototyping(RCP) concept. Therefore this simulator adopt RCP tools to solve the equation of a vehicle dynamics model and control algorithm in real time, rendering engine to provide real-time visual representation of vehicle behavior and CAN communication to reduce networking load. It can provide also many different driving test environment and driving scenarios.

  • We describe a new approach to implement of trajectory control and track record of articulated manipulator based on monitoring simulator for smart factory. The learning control algorithm was applied in implementation real-time control to provide enhanced motion control performance for robotic manipulators. The proposed control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require any accurate dynamic modeling, or values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the proposed controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for robot manipulator consisting of six joints at the joint space and Cartesian space.by monitoring simulator.

  • 전력계통은 첨단기술과 함께 발전하고 있다. 최근 전력계통은 새로운 기술개발, 전기설비 및 운영 방법으로 전력계통 운영이 복잡해지고 있다. 전기설비가 발전함에 따라 전력계통의 사고비율이 감소하였지만, 그에 따라 새로운 운영방법이 필요하다. 계통 운영방법이 복잡해짐에 따라 효율적으로 전력계통 운영자들을 훈련시키고 교육시키는 전력계통 시뮬레이터가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 LabVIEW 프로그램의 TCP/IP 통신을 이용하여 실시간 전력계통 교육용 시뮬레이터를 제작하였다. 제작한 시뮬레이터는 실제 전력계통에서 일어나는 예측하지 못한 다양한 사건으로 교육자를 지도할 수 있게 제작하였다.

  • This paper discusses the dynamic test of distance relay on transmission line connected unified power flow controller(UPFC) using the real-time digital simulator(RTDS). Depending on operating conditions of UPFC, the trip characteristics of distance relay is influenced by the prefault conditions. In this paper, UPFC is established using the RTDS and then relay test is performed on real time.

  • A haptic steering system which reflects steering reaction torque has been developed for a fixed base vehicle simulator. The haptic steering system consists of a steering effort sensor, MR-clutch, AC servo motor and controller. In order to generate realistic steering torque feel to driver and at the same time to meet real-time simulation requirement, 3D torque map is constructed by experimental data and torque generation algorithm using the torque map has been also developed. 3D torque map is constructed using curve fitting and interpolation of the measured values of the steering angle, velocity and steering torque from actual slalom test on the proving ground. In order to carry out performance test of the developed haptic steering system, a fixed based vehicle simulator is constructed by integrating real time vehicle dynamics module, VR-video/audio module, and the haptic steering system. Steering torque and steering angle curves have been obtained from virtual testing in the vehicle simulator and performance of the haptic steering system has been evaluated.

  • Owing to the variability of large-scaled wind power system, the development of wind farm management technologies and related compensation methods have been receiving attention. To provide an accurate and reliable output power, certain wind farm adopts a specified management system including a wind prediction model and grid expectation solutions for considering grid condition. Those technologies are focused on improving the reliability and stability issues of wind farms, which can affect not only nearby system devices but also a voltage condition of utility grid. Therefore, to adapt the develop management system, an expectation process about voltage condition of Point of Common Coupling should be integrated in operating system for responding system requirements in real-time basis. This paper introduce a grid imposing method for a real-time based wind farm management system. The expected power can be transferred to the power flow section and the required quantity about reactive power can be calculated through the proposed system. For the verification process, the gauss-seidel method is introduced in the Matlab/Simulink for analysing power flow condition. The entire simulation process was designed to interwork with PSCAD for verifying real power system condition.

  • The paper describes the development of the ABS(Anti-Lock Bracke Sytem) real-time simulator which is composed of the real hydraulic modulator, the brake system, and the control software. This useful too supports the development enviornment of the ABS in great flexible mamer. It offers an efficient and cost-effective method of ABS development which includes the various realistic road conditons, the vehicle characteristics , and the brake characteristics. The performance of the ABS is compared with the normal braking results. Thepresented experimental results are braking on the high friction road, thetransient friction road(high to low , low to high), the split friction road, and the high friction road with steer angle. The paper shows the effectiveness and the safety of the ABS compared with the normal brake system , and the powerful and conventient tool in developing the ABS.

  • 본 논문에서는 실제 플래시 메모리와 동일한 특성을 갖는 플래시 메모리 시뮬레이터를 설계 및 구현한 내용을 설명한다. 본 시뮬레이터는 생산 방식, 전체 용량, 블록 크기, 페이지 크기 등 플레시 메모리의 특성을 변화시키면서 실험할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 정확한 수행 시간과 인자 검증 기능을 제공함으로써, 운영체제 입장에서는 실제 플래시 메모리 장치를 사용하는 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 또한, 내부 루틴의 수행 시간 로깅 기능을 제공함으로써 플래시 메모리 관리 소프트웨어의 병목 지점을 판단할 수 있도록 하였다. 마지막으로, Linux 운영체제 환경에 구현된 시뮬레이터와 실제 플래시 메모리를 장착한 테스트 보드에서 응용 프로그램의 성능 측정 결과를 비교함으로써 본 시뮬레이터가 실제 플래시 메모리 장치 대용으로 사용할 수 있음을 보였다.
