  • In case of Radar Simulator ,the target ships should be generated and displayed on the monitor to provide the trainee with the feeling of real situation. The scenario methodology, which has been developed and used in Korea so far, however, has a fixed scenario, in which target ships are generated in the same manner at all time. As a result, the Radar simulator developed in Korea so far was in lack of training efficiency, as the trainee can get earily familiarized with the fixed scenaio. The paper, therefore, suggests the target ship generating methodology using random variables to improve the training efficiency of the existing simulator. In generating the target ships using this methodology, the speed, distance between the ships , and time interval of ships and time of ships were considered as a major factors which dterminie the ship's movements. The new methodology suggested was examined and found to generate target ships successfully giving a trainee the feeling of real situation.

  • Electromagnetic field simulator have been developed on Java 2 platform (J2SE) because provides robust solutions for applications as well as object oriented design. The simulator can be easily utilized with independent platform. Physical variables for the simulator can be controlled by the user. The numerical results are immediately displayed with graphical images in real time. Therefore, this simulator is intended to be used for education such as antenna engineering, microwave engineering, electromagnetic theory and so on.

  • Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) system is one of the key technologies to overcome the voltage sag, swell, interruption and frequency fluctuation by fast response speed of current charge and discharge. In order to evaluate the characteristics of over mega joule class grid connected High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) SMES system, the authors proposed an algorithm by which the SMES coil could be connected to the Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). Using the proposed algorithm, users can perform the simulation of voltage sag and frequency stabilization with a real SMES coil in real time and easily change the capacity of SMES system as much as they need. To demonstrate the algorithm, real charge and discharge circuit and active load were manufactured and experimented. The results show that the current from real system was well amplified and applied to the current source of simulation circuit in real time.

  • 실시간 운영체제 개발 환경에서 제공하는 도구 중에 하나인 RTOS 시뮬레이터는 타겟 H/W가 호스트에 연결되어 있지 않은 상태에서도 호스트에서 응용 프로그램의 개발과 디버깅을 가능하게 해주는 타겟 시뮬레이션 환경을 제공해 줌으로써, 하드웨어 개발이 완료되기 전에도 응용 프로그램의 개발이 가능하도록 해준다. 그러한 이유로 현재 대부분의 상용 RTOS 개발환경에서는 RTOS 시뮬레이터를 제공하고 있다. 그러나 그들의 대부분은 RTOS의 기능적인 부분들만 호스트에서 시뮬레이션 하도록 구현되어 있어서, RTOS 및 응용 프로그램이 실제 타겟 UW에서 실행될 때의 실질적인 시간 추정이 불가능하다. 실시간 시스템은 정해진 시간 내에 프로그램 실행을 종료해야 하기 때문에, 실행시간 추정 기능도 가지는 RTOS 시뮬레이터가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 RTOS 및 응용 프로그램이 실제 타겟 H/W에서 처리될 때의 실행시간 추정이 가능하고 구현도 용이한 기계명령어-레벨(machine instruction-level)의 RTOS 시뮬레이터를 개발하고, 실제 프로그램을 실행하여 기능과 정확도를 검증하였다.

  • To overcome limitations of test scope, schedule and cost, M&S(Modeling & Simulation) technique has been applied for T&E(Test and Evaluation) of the state-of-art weapon systems. This paper proposes an air defense simulation software framework to reduce both redundancy an[1 programming errors in system simulator. The proposed framework consists of a 'model' and a 'middleware' The 'middleware' is a reliable communication service layer that supports not only HLA(High Level Architecture) which is an international standard in M&S but also TCP/IP, UDP and etc. The main role of 'model' is to schedule and to run the real-time distributed simulation. The proposed framework has been applied to M-SAM(Middle range Surface to Air Missile) system simulator. The proposed framework's scheduling and communication performance results are satisfactory and were measured by hardwired NTP(Network Timer Protocol) time-stamp with GPS(Global Positioning System) timer for better precision.

Study of Bidirectional DC-DC Converter Interfacing Energy Storage for Vehicle Power Management Using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS)

  • The bidirectional dc-dc converter, being the interface between Energy Storage Element (ESE) and DC bus, is an essential component of the power management system for vehicle applications including electric vehicle (EV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and fuel cell vehicle (FCV). In this paper, a novel multiphase bidirectional dc-dc converter interfacing with battery to supply and absorb the electric energy in the FCV system was studied with the help of real time digital simulator (RTDS). The mathematical models of fuel cell, battery and dc-dc converter were derived. A power management strategy was developed and first simulated in RTDS. A Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) simulation using RTDS is then presented. The main challenge of this PHIL is the requirement for a highly dynamic bidirectional Simulation-Stimulation (Sim-Stim) interface. This paper describes three different interface algorithms. The closed-loop stability of the resulting PHIL system is analyzed in terms of time delay and sampling rate. A prototype bidirectional Sim-Stim interface is designed to implement the PHIL simulation.

  • The AIS(Automatic Identification System) transmits the position of ships and other information to prevent accidents which could occur in the sea. It has to be developed SOTDMA(Self-Organized Time Division Multiple Access) Algorithm which is important on wireless communication method for the AIS because It is based on ITU(International Telecommunication Union) M.1371-1 of the international standard therefore, we need to develop a performance evaluation simulator efficiently to develop and analyze SOTDMA Algorithm. This paper shows the method of designing it. Real ships access The VHF maritime mobile band but in this performance evaluation simulator several ship objects access the shared memory. Real ships are designed as the object and the wireless communication channel is designed as the shared memory. The ships apply for real virtual data which got from assistance hardware and The SOTDMA Algorithm driving state verifies the performance evaluation simulator by IEC(International Electrotechnical commission) 61993-2. After verifying results the performance evaluation simulator is correctly satisfied with IEC 61993-2. So we expect that it helps not only the AIS technology developed but also verify new SOTDMA Algorithm.

  • In this study to cope with the decreasing product's life-cycle a virtual simulator to realize the simulation environment similar to a real manufacturing line is developed. The developed simulator plays a role in reducing the product conversion time by alternating manufacturing components and work plans on the simulation as manufacturing lines change and actuating a virtual manufacturing lines change and actuating a virtual manufacturing line before a real production. The developed simulator realized a virtual manufacturing line on the simulation using various manipulators and work cells as manufacturing components. Also It can be shown that the simulator can cope with rapid change of a manufacturing line by developing a interface that a separate process is managed for each manufacturing module and a manipulator component and a work cell are changed for a user to become convenient to teach tasks of each work module. using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and OpenGL of Silicon Graphics for libraries to realize 3-dimensional graphic and constructing a database system, a hybrid type of hierachical and relational model to develop a progra that has efficiency and standardization.

  • TMR(triple modular redundant) digital excitation system with simulator is developed for tuning optimal control parameters during commissioning test and coping with system faults rapidly. A new system which mocks up virtual generator, turbine, grid can simulate as if excitation system is connected to a real generator system by setting four switches. The maintenance crew using the simulator is able to test perfectly the phase controller rectifiers, field breaker, sequence relays as well as TMR controller of the excitation system. Commissioning and performance results about the excitation system with simulator is discussed. The trial product was installed and operated at a 500MW thermal power plant after the commissioning test.
