Cluster analysis for highway speed according to patterns and effects (고속도로 구간별 통행속도의 패턴과 영향에 따른 군집분석)

  • This paper uses all sections of highway data (VDS) for two years (Jan. 2014-Dec. 2015), with 15 minute units. The first purpose of this study is to find clusters with similar patterns that appear repeatedly with time variables of month, week and hour. The cluster analysis results indicate a variety of patterns of average traffic speeds by time variables depending on the clusters; subsequently, these can be utilized to model for the forecast of the speed at a specific time. The second purpose is to do cluster analysis for grouping sections by effect nets that are closely related to each other. For the similarity measure we use cross-correlation functions calculated after pre-whitening the speed of each section. The cluster analysis gets 19 clusters, and sections within a cluster are geographically close. These results are expected to help to forecast a real-time speed.

Multiobjective Routing and Scheduling for Vehicles Transporting Hazardous Materials (위험물 운송차량의 다목적 경로 및 스케줄 관리 방안)

  • Vehicles transporting hazardous materials can make huge damage to people, properties and environment by traffic accidents. Therefore, transporting hazardous materials is a big issue with the cutting edge technology of communications in these days. However, despite this situation, Korean government gives limited efforts for systematic management, research and investment about hazardous materials. Accordingly, this research suggests the key path finding algorithm about management of real-time schedule and routes for vehicles transporting hazardous materials. Besides, the case study is progressed in transportation networks of Seoul in order to evaluate the reality of algorithm. Specifically, time-space network transformation is performed for time window attributes. In addition, this study proposes the techniques searching for non-dominated paths considering schedule by the multiobjective shortest path algorithm based on dynamic programming in dynamic transportation networks including multiobjective attributes.

An Anomalous Event Detection System based on Information Theory (엔트로피 기반의 이상징후 탐지 시스템)

  • We present a real-time monitoring system for detecting anomalous network events using the entropy. The entropy accounts for the effects of disorder in the system. When an abnormal factor arises to agitate the current system the entropy must show an abrupt change. In this paper we deliberately model the Internet to measure the entropy. Packets flowing between these two networks may incur to sustain the current value. In the proposed system we keep track of the value of entropy in time to pinpoint the sudden changes in the value. The time-series data of entropy are transformed into the two-dimensional domains to help visually inspect the activities on the network. We examine the system using network traffic traces containing notorious worms and DoS attacks on the testbed. Furthermore, we compare our proposed system of time series forecasting method, such as EWMA, holt-winters, and PCA in terms of sensitive. The result suggests that our approach be able to detect anomalies with the fairly high accuracy. Our contributions are two folds: (1) highly sensitive detection of anomalies and (2) visualization of network activities to alert anomalies.

Driver Route Choice Models for Developing Real-Time VMS Operation Strategies (VMS 실시간 운영전략 구축을 위한 운전자 경로선택모형)

  • Real-time traveler information disseminated through Variable Message Signs (VMS) is known to have effects on driver route choice decisions. In the past, many studies have attempted to optimize the system performance using VMS message content as the primary control variable of driver route choice. This research proposes a VMS information provision optimization model which searches the best combination of VMS message contents and display sequence to minimize the total travel time on a highway network considered. The driver route choice models under VMS information provision are developed using a stated preference (SP) survey data in order to realistically capture driver response behavior. The genetic algorithm (GA) is used to find the optimal VMS information provision strategies which consists of the VMS message contents and the sequence of message display. In the process of the GA module, the system performance is measured using micro traffic simulation. The experiment results highlight the capability of the proposed model to search the optimal solution in an efficient way. The results show that the traveler information conveyed via VMS can reduce the total travel time on a highway network. They also suggest that as the frequency of VMS message update gets shorter, a smaller number of VMS message contents performs better to reduce the total travel time, all other things being equal.

Study of the Operation of Actuated signal control Based on Vehicle Queue Length estimated by Deep Learning (딥러닝으로 추정한 차량대기길이 기반의 감응신호 연구)

  • As a part of realization of artificial intelligence signal(AI Signal), this study proposed an actuated signal algorithm based on vehicle queue length that estimates in real time by deep learning. In order to implement the algorithm, we built an API(COM Interface) to control the micro traffic simulator Vissim in the tensorflow that implements the deep learning model. In Vissim, when the link travel time and the traffic volume collected by signal cycle are transferred to the tensorflow, the vehicle queue length is estimated by the deep learning model. The signal time is calculated based on the vehicle queue length, and the simulation is performed by adjusting the signaling inside Vissim. The algorithm developed in this study is analyzed that the vehicle delay is reduced by about 5% compared to the current TOD mode. It is applied to only one intersection in the network and its effect is limited. Future study is proposed to expand the space such as corridor control or network control using this algorithm.

  • Purpose: Analysis method of V2I data driven motorway service area usage behavior to cope with manpower survey. Method: Segmentation of traveling state group and boundary using the distribution characteristics of traveling speed data of individual vehicles. Result: As a result of the verification, the use rate of resting places in lunchtime surged, and the boundary between the distribution status of the traffic speed data was clearly or unclear. Conclusion: The effect of the cost reduction is big because it can cope with the use of rest area survey by manpower and there is no limit in the time and space range of investigation. The dynamic utilization rate of each time sequence, such as a service area/drowsiness shelter/simple service area, with a V2I system, can be calculated. Identify illegal parking on highway section. Identify the unexpected situation in the road section. Identify the real-time service area utilization rate and congestion information.

  • Aside from the issues like energy saving and maximizing network lifetime. WMSN has another issue to deal with: support of quality of service(QoS) which is required especially for handling real-time data such as object tracking and data gathering. This paper proposes a multipath routing algorithm considering the distance to sink node, energy level and link quality of neighbour nodes. Proposed algorithm supports multipath routing path with high quality links. Hence it helps to reduce a power consumption concentration that happens in particular set of nodes along the frequently selected route. It also specifies a service quality pattern and a service quality level depending on traffic pattern. By doing this, the proposed algorithm can realize a differentiated service with QoS guaranteed data transmission.

Mobile Message Platform Supporting Dynamic Services based on Templates (템플릿에 기반한 동적인 서비스를 지원하는 모바일 메시지 플랫폼)

  • Although message services in mobile environments provide real-time transfer of various contents such as text, multimedia and location, they can't provide dynamic message services based on analysis of message contents. This paper proposes "message as a service" concept and presents the design methodology for a message platform. The message in this paper is composed of the data part and template part which is in charge of view and functional logic of contents. In addition, two parts of a message are transferred separately. If a terminal device stores message templates, message platform can transfer data part only and thus network traffic can be reduced. Besides an efficient network utilization, we can dynamically update message view and its functional logic by modifying templates.

A Simple Method for Solving Type-2 and Type-4 Fuzzy Transportation Problems

  • In conventional transportation problem (TP), all the parameters are always certain. But, many of the real life situations in industry or organization, the parameters (supply, demand and cost) of the TP are not precise which are imprecise in nature in different factors like the market condition, variations in rates of diesel, traffic jams, weather in hilly areas, capacity of men and machine, long power cut, labourer's over time work, unexpected failures in machine, seasonal changes and many more. To counter these problems, depending on the nature of the parameters, the TP is classified into two categories namely type-2 and type-4 fuzzy transportation problems (FTPs) under uncertain environment and formulates the problem and utilizes the trapezoidal fuzzy number (TrFN) to solve the TP. The existing ranking procedure of Liou and Wang (1992) is used to transform the type-2 and type-4 FTPs into a crisp one so that the conventional method may be applied to solve the TP. Moreover, the solution procedure differs from TP to type-2 and type-4 FTPs in allocation step only. Therefore a simple and efficient method denoted by PSK (P. Senthil Kumar) method is proposed to obtain an optimal solution in terms of TrFNs. From this fuzzy solution, the decision maker (DM) can decide the level of acceptance for the transportation cost or profit. Thus, the major applications of fuzzy set theory are widely used in areas such as inventory control, communication network, aggregate planning, employment scheduling, and personnel assignment and so on.

  • Cloud computing refers to borrow IT resources as needed by leveraging Internet technology and pay as much as you used by supporting real-time scalability depending on the service load. Virtualization which is the main technology of cloud computing is a technology that server, storage and hardware are regarded as not separate system but one system area and are allocated as needed. However, the security mechanisms provided by virtualized environments are difficult to cope with the traditional security mechanisms, having basic levels of visibility, control and audit function, on which the server is designed to monitor the traffic between the servers. In this paper, the security vulnerabilities of virtualization are analysed in the cloud computing environment and cloud virtualization security recommendations are proposed.
