  • In this study, a smart motor control and monitoring system is developed with an embedded board where Intel PXA255B CPU is mounted. Linux is ported into the embedded board as RTOS(Real Time Operating System), and the environment which communicate with a motor driver through serial protocol and is capable of controlling and monitoring the motor in real time is built in the system. A user friendly GUI is developed for the convenient operation of the system. Also, the environment which is able to control and monitor the motor driver remotely is built in the system using TCP/IP protocol.

  • In this paper, we develop real-time monitoring system to detect third-party damage on natural gas pipeline by using sound propagation model. Since many third-party incidents cause damage that does not lead to immediate rupture but can grow with time, the developed real-time monitoring system can execute a significant role in reducing many third-party damage incidents. The developed system is composed of three steps as follows: i) DSP based system, ii) wireless communication system, iii) the calculation and monitoring software to detect the position of third-party damage using the propagation speed of acoustic wave. Furthermore, the developed system was set at practical offshore pipeline between two islands in Korea and it has been operating in real time.

수중 방사선 감시체계 구축을 위한 실시간 방사선 준위 모니터링 센서 개발 (Development of a Real-time Radiation Level Monitoring Sensor for Building an Underwater Radiation Monitoring System)

  • In the present study, we developed a real-time radiation-monitoring sensor for an underwater radiation-monitoring system and evaluated its effectiveness using reference radiation sources. The monitoring sensor was designed and miniaturized using a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) and a cerium-doped-gadolinium-aluminum-gallium-garnet (Ce:GAGG) scintillator, and an underwater wireless monitoring system was implemented by employing a remote Bluetooth communication module. An acrylic water tank and reference radiation sources ($^{137}Cs$, $^{90}Sr$) were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the monitoring sensor. The underwater monitoring sensor's detection response and efficiency for gamma rays and beta particles as well as the linearity of the response according to the gammaray intensity were verified through an evaluation. This evaluation is expected to contribute to the development of base technology for an underwater radiation-monitoring system.

  • This paper develops a process monitoring system for real-time process control. The practical case is studied on a small and medium marine equipment company. For business process reengineering of the company, we adopt an approach based on information engineering methodology, which consists of four stages : planning, analysis, design, and implementation. The system is developed for Client/Server environment. We discuss the constructing of hardware system for real-time process control at low cost. The developed system is composed of interrelated modules for item master and BOM management, process control, facility management, SQC and work report.

  • Real Time Simulation (RTS) has long been used in the nuclear power industry for operator training and engineering purposes. And, Online Simulation (OLS) is based on RTS and with connection to the plant information system to acquire the measurement data in real time for calibrating the simulation models and following plant operation, for the purposes of analyzing plant events and providing indicative signs of malfunctioning. An OLS system has been developed to support PWR operations for CPR1000 plants. The OLS system provides graphical user interface (GUI) for operators to monitor critical plant operations for preventing faulty operation or analyzing plant events. Functionalities of the OLS system are depicted through the maneuvering of the GUI for various OLS functional modules in the system.

  • Sensors based bridge monitoring system (SBBMS) is designed to perform real-time monitoring and to store the performance history of in-service bridges. In general, visual inspections play a major role in maintenance of in-service bridges; however, they are not adequate to document the behavior of a bridge. Therefore, visual inspections and sensor based monitoring systems complement each other. Sensor based bridge monitoring systems consist of hardware and software systems. The hardware system contains the sensors and data-loggers to measure the behavior of a structure, the communicational equipment to transmit the measured data from the site to the monitoring center, and the computers to arrange and analyze the data. The software system controls data-loggers, arranges and analyzes the measured data, makes real-time display, stores the performance history.

  • In this paper we proposed the real time monitoring system for power controller in CRCS. The proposed real time monitoring system can be utilized to adapt CRCS to real plant at initial step for commercial use. Through the this system, we are assured that CRCS is more easily fitted to real plant.

  • This paper presents the implementation of Real-time data acquisition system for dynamic characteristics of overhead contact wire in electric railway. The reconfigurable field-programmable gate array (FPGA) and LabVIEW graphical development tools have been used to Real-time monitoring system. The results from a field test show that the proposed technique and developed system can be practically applied to measure the assessment quantity or quantities on overhead contact lines for the online real-time process monitoring.

  • In this paper, using the power system information obtained from real-time monitoring device, to analyze the voltage stability margin index and described the voltage stability control scheme for voltage stability enhancement. Based on the utilization of the voltage stability monitoring index based on local information provided by the PMU(Phasor Measurement Unit), the purpose of the plan is to control the system stably in real time. In order to apply the load control scheme, the voltage stability margin is calculated using the data acquired through the PMU installed in each load bus. If the voltage drops below a certain level, load control is performed for each. The effectiveness of the voltage stability control measures is applied to the actual KEPCO system to analyze the effectiveness.

Evaluation of Muscle Tension in Hemiplegia Patients with a Real-time Monitoring System during High Intensity Laser Therapy

  • In this study, we evaluated the muscle tension in hemiplegia patients using a real-time monitoring system combined with high-intensity laser treatment (HILT) device. Five hemiplegia patients were treated with HILT in the left forearm muscle for 8 minutes, and the muscle was relaxed for 8 minutes following the treatment. Both the gradient of the force-displacement curves and the muscle hardness decreased during the therapy, and the effects were maintained following the treatment. The results show that muscle tension decreased rapidly during laser irradiation, and the efficacy of the treatment depended on the duration of the illness. Consequently, we conclude that this combined HILT and real-time muscle tension monitoring system is useful for evaluating the therapeutic procedure and for treatment of muscle pain.
