Induction motor torque is the reactive power is needed which corresponds to the exciting current to generate the magnetic flux as the product of current and flux. For use in the method of supplying the required reactive power to the induction motor power factor correction apparatus using a lot of ways to supply in place of the power supply side, when using a power factor compensation device can reduce the apparent power, the power factor can be improved. However, the distance to the emergency generator transformers or motors from the motor capacity is smaller but short and difficult to maneuver the theory and practice of the operating characteristics of the starting characteristics of the motor used a lot of large industrial plants were measured and analyzed. Therefore, this study investigated the motor starting Analysis and interpretation for the relationship with the large motor starting torque and speed during motor starting.
This paper presents an investigation of a voltage and frequency controller for an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) driven. by a wind turbine and supplying 3-phase 4-wire loads to the isolated areas where a grid is not accessible. The control strategy is based on the indirect current control of the VSC (voltage source converter) using the frequency PI controller. The proposed controller consists of three single-phase IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Junction Transistor) based VSC, which are connected to each phase of the IAG through three single phase transformers and a battery at their DC link. The controller has the capability of controlling reactive and active powers to regulate the magnitude and frequency of the generated voltage, harmonic elimination, load balancing and neutral current compensation. The proposed isolated system is modeled and simulated in MATLAB using Simulink and PSB (Power System Block-set) toolboxes to verify the performance of the controller.

This paper proposed a simple and helpful analysis model of voltage variation in order to predict the voltage variation at PCC (Point of Common Coupling), when a wind turbine is connected in an isolated grid. The PCC voltage flucuates when the wind turbine outputs active power to an isolated grid. This voltage variation is proportional to the product of the line impedance from the ideal generator to the PCC and the wind turbine output current. And It is different according as where wind turbine is connected. To solve the problem of voltage variation, this paper proposed the reactive power control. To verify the proposed analysis model, this paper utilized PSCAD/EMTDC Simulation and the field measurement data of the voltage variation during the wind power generation.

The reactive and harmonic current components of dc loads can be compensated by the three-phase hybrid power filter (HPF) system. After compensation, the resulting current has sinusoidal and in-phase components with the source voltage. The HPF system is constructed by an active filter and passive filters. The passive filter reduce the 5th and 7th harmonic of the load current. The active filter compensates the remainder of the load current. Using the HPF system, a low cost harmonic compensator can be made. Performance of the HPF system is verified through simulation,
The conventional APF(Active Power Filter) system performs only function which is compensated for source harmonic by injecting harmonic compensation current as well as reactive power component by PWM. This paper presents a new APF which provides the combined functions of VC(Voltage Compensator) and conventional APF, because the structure of APF is similar to stand- alone UPS in parallel type. Single-chip microprocessor plays an important role in controlling each function. Simulation obtained from ACSL are shown to verify multi-functions of new APP.

Owing to the variability of large-scaled wind power system, the development of wind farm management technologies and related compensation methods have been receiving attention. To provide an accurate and reliable output power, certain wind farm adopts a specified management system including a wind prediction model and grid expectation solutions for considering grid condition. Those technologies are focused on improving the reliability and stability issues of wind farms, which can affect not only nearby system devices but also a voltage condition of utility grid. Therefore, to adapt the develop management system, an expectation process about voltage condition of Point of Common Coupling should be integrated in operating system for responding system requirements in real-time basis. This paper introduce a grid imposing method for a real-time based wind farm management system. The expected power can be transferred to the power flow section and the required quantity about reactive power can be calculated through the proposed system. For the verification process, the gauss-seidel method is introduced in the Matlab/Simulink for analysing power flow condition. The entire simulation process was designed to interwork with PSCAD for verifying real power system condition.

When solving the problems of electric power quality the converters with high Power factor are useful for the DC arc furnace power supply. In this paper, resonant converters of 50(60) Hz AC to DC arc described, where in each period of network voltage the capacitor and inductor of an oscillatory circuit are switched from series into parallel and vice versa parametrically. The duration of series and parallel connection and also the transformation ratio are dependent on load. Parallel oscillatory circuit restricts the short circuit current. These converters have high power factor from no-load to short-circuit and fit very well to supply are furnaces.

Using impedance matching techniques as a way to increase system power transferability in capacitive wireless power transmission has been widely investigated in conventional studies. However, these techniques tend to increase the circuit volume and thus counterbalance the advantage of the simplicity in the energy link structure. In this paper, a compact circuit topology with one leakage-enhanced transformer is proposed in order to minimize the circuit volume for the capacitive power transfer system. This topology achieves a reactive compensation, and the system quality factor value can be reduced by the turn ratio. As a result, this topology not only reduces the overall system volume but also minimizes the voltage stress of the link capacitor. An optimal design guideline for the leakage-enhanced transformer is also presented. The advantages of the proposed scheme over the conventional method in terms of power efficiency and circuit volume are revealed through an analytic comparison. The feasibility of applying the new topology is also verified by conducting 50 W hardware tests.
A multi-pulse GTO based voltage source converter (VSC) topology together with a fundamental frequency switching mode of gate control is a mature technology being widely used in static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs). The present practice in utility/industry is to employ a high number of pulses in the STATCOM, preferably a 48-pulse along with matching components of magnetics for dynamic reactive power compensation, voltage regulation, etc. in electrical networks. With an increase in the pulse order, need of power electronic devices and inter-facing magnetic apparatus increases multi-fold to achieve a desired operating performance. In this paper, a competitive topology with a fewer number of devices and reduced magnetics is evolved to develop an 18-pulse, 2-level $\pm$ 100MVAR STATCOM in which a GTO-VSC device is operated at fundamental frequency switching gate control. The inter-facing magnetics topology is conceptualized in two stages and with this harmonics distortion in the network is minimized to permissible IEEE-519 standard limits. This compensator is modeled, designed and simulated by a SimPowerSystems tool box in MATLAB platform and is tested for voltage regulation and power factor correction in power systems. The operating characteristics corresponding to steady state and dynamic operating conditions show an acceptable performance.

This paper presents a new control method of single-phase active power filter(APF) for the compensation of harmonic current components in nonlinear loads. Constructing a imaginary second-phase giving time delay to load currents, making single-phase system into the system that has two phases, complex calculation is possible. In the previous method, it made a imaginary-phase lagged to the load current T/4(here T is the fundamental cycle), but in proposed method, the new signal, which has the delayed phase through the filter, using the phase-delay property of low-pass filter, was used to the second phase. Instantaneous calculation of harmonic current is possible, because two phase have different phase. In this paper, it was done with instantaneous calculation using the rotating reference frames(RRF) that synchronizes with source-frequency, a reference of compensation currents, not applying to instantaneous reactive power theory which uses the existed fixed reference frames. The simulation and experiment about R-L loads using the current source were carried out, and the effect of the proposed method was preyed through the result of this experiment.
