유도전동기의 자기여자 및 역률보상에 대한 연구 (A Research on Self-excitation and Power Factor Compensation of Induction Motor)

  • Induction motor requires a rotating magnetic for rotation. Current required to generate the rotating magnetic field is magnetizing current. This magnetizing current is associated with the reactive power. This reactive power must be supplied from source side. Therefore, the power factor of the induction motor is low. So, the capacitor is installed on the motor terminals to compensate for the low power factor. Power supply company has recommended to maintain a high power factor to the customer. If the capacitor current is greater than the magnetizing current of the motor, there is a possibility that the self-excitation occurs. So it is necessary to calculate the optimal capacity capacitor current does not exceed the magnetizing current. In this study, we first compute the no-load current and the reactive power of the induction motor and then calculates the limit of the maximum power factor without causing self-excitation.

연료전지 시스템을 이용한 전기철도 급전계통 전압강하 보상 (The Voltage Drop Compensation of Electric Railway Feeding system using a Fuelcell System)

  • In this paper, fuel cell power generation system that is being studied in recent railway field was applied to compensate for the voltage drop due to the load as driving electric vehicle. PSIM simulation program is to be used to implement the modeling of the electric railway for AC AT feeder system. For it, It was applied to the product-type single-phase PLL algorithm, step-down converter is controlled as power so as to have the fuelcell generation system. Based on it's result, a reactive power due to the catenary impedance in accordance with the current flowing is compensated as linked with fuelcell generation system which supplied the current to the power supply grid. and then its performance was confirmed that voltage compensation effect obtained at SubStation (SS), SubSectioning Post (SSP), Sectioning Post (SP).

  • This paper introduces a method to reduce the reactive power required by electronic converters. The instantaeous reactive power is calculated and compensated by the current controlled PWH voltage source converter connected parallel between the power lines and the converter. A high performance current control technique which is based on the current deviation vector is used for the PWM converter as compensator of reactive power. Accurate compensation of the reactive power and t control system ensuring fast response to the sudden change of loaf are attained. The converter structure and control scheme are discussed. Simulation of the system is performed.

  • With the restructuring of the electric power industry during the past decade, operation and control strategies have undergone a shift in paradigm. Certain activities that were earlier considered as part of the integrated electricity supply(such as voltage and frequency control) are now treated as separate services and often independently managed and accounted for. This paper examines the management of reactive power services in deregulated electricity markets around the world. From the review several diverse methods for handling reactive power within the deregulated market framework emerges. While in many of the markets, proper financial compensation mechanisms exist to compensate the providers for their service, some others continue to handle reactive power through regulatory frameworks and technical operation guidelines.

  • This paper deals with current harmonics and unbalanced source voltages compensation using combined filter system. Filter system consists of a series active filter and parallel passive filters. Passive filters were a traditional method to compensate current harmonics, so those were installed in power system widely. The active filter can be a substitution to improve filtering characteristics and complement drawbacks of the passive filter. The combined system of the active power filter and passive filter can has a better compensation performances and economical goods. The series type active power filter injects compensation voltage into power system by transformers. It's compensation principle is able to applicate for voltage compensation. A new control algorithm for series active filter to compensate current harmonics and unbalanced source voltages is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, a compensation voltage for harmonic reduction is calculated directly by instantaneous reactive power theory, and a compensation voltage for unbalanced source voltage is calculated in based on a synchronous reference frame. By experiments, we show validity of proposed compensation method.

  • Back-to Back HVDC 방식을 사용한 비동기 계통연계 기술은 고조파 발생, 높은 비용 및 낮은 확장성의 문제를 가지고 있으며, 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 회전형 변압기를 이용한 비동기 계통 연계 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나 회전형 변압기의 인덕턴스 성분으로 인한 무효전력이 발생되고 별도의 무효전력 보상설비의 추가 설치에 대한 문제가 필연적으로 발생된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 회전형 변압기를 사용한 비동기 계통 연계 시스템의 필수요소인 정류용 AC-DC 컨버터를 유효전력 공급뿐만 아니라 무효전력을 보상할 수 있도록 설계함으로서 기존의 회전형 변압기의 무효전력 보상 문제를 해결하고자 하며, 제안된 방식은 시뮬레이션을 통해 성능을 검증하였다.

  • This paper deals with the design and simulation of the hybrid power filter to compensate reactive power and harmonic components of nonlinear load. Control target is a 3-phase diode full bridge rectifier with L-R-C nonlinear load, this load is assumed adjustable speed driver(ASD). The hybrid filter consists of a shunt active filter, shunt passive filters and series inductors. Control algorithm is based on instantaneous power compensation theory proposed by H.Akagi and etc. The result from simulation shows the hybrid filter is superior than other filters on the point of compensation performance and low cost. The PSCAD/EMTDC 3.0 is used as simulation tools.

  • The designed hybrid generation system (HGS) not only consider the voltage condition of grid connection point but also do reactive power support according to the transmission system operator's directions. The PCS operation plan in HGS should be supported by precise transferred quantity expectation about reactive power because the system has large physical areas and also be interconnected with grid through long transmission system. Therefore, the realistic measuring process about transferred reactive power quantity by utilizing HGS is required to consider additional compensation plan. In this paper, an reactive power transferred capability of HGS with expected parameter is analyzed, and imposed to the simulation process that is performed on EMTDC environment. Basically, grid information and system characteristics were utilized with Jeju island in Korea, and the performance analysis is carried out based on the composed layout in ongoing project.

  • The main drawback of parallel type active power filters (APF) is the large capacity required for harmonic compensation. This paper evaluates the APF capacity requirement of harmonic/reactive power compensation for thyristor converter load. Theoretically achievable maximum power factor under partial load is evaluated. And it is shown that the APF capacity can be considerably reduced while slightly sacrificing the filtering performance by deliberately limiting the peak current of the APF.

  • In this paper, an Active Power Filter (APF) is implemented using a dSPACE DS1104 processor to compensate harmonics and reactive power produced by nonlinear load. The reference source current is computed based on the measurement of harmonics in the supply voltage and load current. A hysteresis based current controller has been implemented in a DSP processor for injecting the compensating current into the power system, so that APF allows suppression of the harmonics and reactive power component of load current, resulting in a supply current that is purely sinusoidal. Simulation and experimental results of the proposed APF to meet the IEEE-519 standards are presented.
