Building energy saving is one of the most important issues in these days. Control algorithm for energy saving should be designed properly to reduce power consumption in building. Recently, building energy system consists of hybrid energy system coupling with RE (Renewable Energy) source. In this paper, an optimum control algorithm for building energy saving is applied to BEMS (Building Energy Management System) by using an outdoor air temperature prediction strategy. BEMS coupling with renewable energy can control HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning) system effectively. In order to verify the effectiveness of building energy saving, BEMS was tested for several months at a laboratorial chamber with an air conditioner, fan and heater. To this end BEMS embedded control algorithm has been tested successfully.
An experiment to investigate the natural circulation of a cryogen has been performed. The study is motivated mainly by our recent development of cryogenic cooling system for prototype superconducting cyclotron without any circulating pump. In the natural circulation loop system, a cooling channel is attached on the outer surface of the aluminium block and the liquid nitrogen passes through inside of the channel to cool the block indirectly. A cryocooler as a heat sink is located at the top to re-condense cryogenic vapor coming from the aluminium block in which electrical heater is installed as a heat source. The main dimensions are determined using the relevant analysis and the natural circulation loop is successfully fabricated. The temperature distributions in the loop are measured during initial cool-down process and in steady state, from which the modified Grashof numbers are calculated and compared with the existing correlation estimated with one-dimensional analysis for steady state flow.

An experimental study has been performed on thermal transport from an aluminum foam heat sink under a confined impinging air jet. Three kinds of aluminum foam heat sinks with 10, 20 and 40 PPI and a conventional pin-fin heat sink are tested in the present study. The jet Reynolds number is varied in the range of Re=667~5672 The effect of the confinement disk diameter and the distance between the confinement disk and the heater surface on the averaged Nusselt number is investigated in detail. The results are also compared with those of the unconfined impinging air jet. The critical distance, at which thermal performance shows a minimum compared to the unconfined jet impinging, will be described in terms of the Reynolds number and the pore density of the aluminum foam.

Solar air heaters (SAHs) are simple in design and widely used for solar energy collection devices, and a packed bed is one of typical solar energy storage systems of thermal energy captured by SAHs. This paper presents mathematical modeling and simulation on the thermal performance of various packed bed energy storage systems. A MATLAB program is used to estimate the thermal efficiency of packed bed SAH. Among the various packed bed energy storage systems considered, the wire mesh screen packed bed SAH shows the best thermal efficiency over the entire range of design conditions. The maximum of thermal efficiency of packed bed SAH with wire mesh screen matrices has been found to be 0.794 for Re=2000 - 20000 and ${\Delta}T/I=0.002-0.02$.
Within the framework of DECOVALEX-2019 Task D, full-scale engineered barriers experiment (FEBEX) at Grimsel Test Site was numerically simulated to investigate an applicability of implemented Barcelona basic model (BBM) into TOUGH2-MP/FLAC3D simulator, which was developed for the prediction of the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical behavior of bentonite buffer. And the calculated heater power, temperature, relative humidity, total stress, saturation, water content and dry density were compared with in situ data monitored in the various sections. In general, the calculated heater power and temperature provided a fairly good agreement with experimental observations, however, the difference between power of heater #1 and that of heater #2 could not captured in the numerical analysis. It is necessary to consider lamprophyre with low thermal conductivity around heater #1 and non-simplified installation progresses of bentonite blocks in the tunnel for better modeling results. The evolutions and distributions of relative humidity were well reproduced, but hydraulic model needs to be modified because the re-saturation process was relatively fast near the heaters. In case of stress evolutions due to the thermal and hydraulic expansions, the computed stress was in good agreement with the data. But, the stress is slightly higher than the measured in situ data at the early stage of the operation, because gap between rock mass and bentonite blocks have not been considered in the numerical simulations. The calculated distribution of saturation, water content, and dry density along the radial distance showed good agreement with the observations after the first and final dismantling. The calculated dry density near the center of the FEBEX tunnel and heaters were overestimated compared with the observations. As a result, the saturation and water content were underestimated with the measurements. Therefore, numerical model of permeability is needed to modify for the production of better numerical results. It will be possible to produce the better analysis results and more realistically predict the coupled THM behavior in the bentonite blocks by performing the additional studies and modifying the numerical model based on the results of this study.

The performance of a solar water heater incorporating evacuated tubes was evaluated using a transient simulation program, TRNSYS. Simulations were performed for $60^{\circ}C$ of hot water load temperature and for 280 liter of daily hot water volumes and three 400 liter of storage tank volumes. Three patterns of daily hot water consumption profile were used in the present study (morning, lunch and evening). The results show that the increase in solar fraction depends on the load profile, as well as the collector efficiency coefficient. Hot water draw profile has a large effect on the performance of the SDHWS, the morning load profile has the highest solar fraction. The annual solar fraction of the system, at the weather conditions of Jinju is approximately 84% at lunch load pattern, the 280 kg of load volume, 400 kg of tank volume and the $60^{\circ}C$ of load temperature.

Artificial roughness as a means of improving heat transfer gains more interest, especially for application to various heat exchanger. This study present experimental information for single-phase free and force convection heat transfer in a circular tube containing a internal spiral ribs. To examine the effect of inclined angle of tube, it was varied from 0 deg to 90 deg (0.deg., 22.5.deg., 45.deg., 90.deg.) with horizontal. Length of tube is 1.6m, and width, height and helix angle of rib are 4.2mm, 1.5mm, and 60 deg respectively. Water was used as a working fluid and test piece was heated with a constant heat flux by electric heater. Experiments have been performed with the range of modified Grashof number from 2 * 10$^{6}$ to 15 * 10$^{6}$ for free convection and with the range of Reynolds number from 3,000 to 40,000 for forced convection. Since the increase in heat transfer coefficients influence directly to the friction coefficient of the tube, the changes of the friction factors are also presented for several different cases considered in this investigation.
The effect of various pH agents on the corrosion behavior of carbon steel was investigated under a simulated secondary water chemistry condition of a pressurized water reactor (PWR) in a laboratory, and the steel's corrosion performance was compared with the field data obtained from Uljin NPP unit 2 reactor. All tests were carried out at temperatures of $50^{\circ}C-250^{\circ}C$and pH of 8.5 - 10. The pH at a given temperature was controlled by adding different agents. Laboratory data indicate that the corrosion rate of carbon steel decreased as the pH increased under the test conditions and the highest corrosion rate was measured at $150^{\circ}C$. This high corrosion rate may be related to high dissolution and instability of Fe oxide ($Fe_3O_4$) at $150^{\circ}C$. It was also found that an addition of ethanolamine (ETA) to ammonia was more effectivefor anticorrosion than ammonia alone, and that mixed treatment reduced 50% of iron or more at pHs of 9.5 or higher, especially in the steam generator (SG) and the moisture separator & re-heater (MSR).
Due to the transportability problems, long rail shall be from base rail unit, which is normally 100m for regular rail and 300m for high speed rail. After these rail units are transported from the fabricator to the site, the field weld would be performed.axial stresses in the long rail is mainly from the temperature differences at various locations the long rail. Also the gaps between each welds cause secondary axial stresses in the rail. In addition to these, re-welds the fractured rails, rail buckling, irregular rail vibration, rail twist also result innonuniform axial stresses in the rail. To obtain the rail buckling stability, the rail stresses shall be released due to the resetting of CWR. Traditionally two resetting of CWR methods have been applied, the one is rail heater and the other is rail tenser. these methods, the latter has been recommended because it has less limitation in the rail length and it is easier to minimized the force differences. But even in this method, the calculation is cumbersome and is not easy to find out the rail stress distribution itself.refined methodsxial stress resetting in the long rail is studied and this study be easily applied in the real construction. From this approach, more rational rail maintenance system can be expected.
