유입흐름 변경 및 전응집 기반 이단응집 제어 적용 MBR을 통한 총인처리 개선 연구 (Enhanced total phosphorus removal using a novel membrane bioreactor by sequentially alternating the inflow and by applying a two-stage coagulation control based on pre-coagulation)

  • A membrane bioreactor by sequentially alternating the inflow and by applying a two-stage coagulation control based on pre-coagulation was evaluated in terms of phosphorus removal efficiency and cost-savings. The MBR consisted of two identical alternative reaction tanks, followed by aerobic, anoxic and membrane tanks, where the wastewater and the internal return sludge alternatively flowed into each alternative reaction tank at every 2 hours. In the batch-operated alternative reaction tank, the initial concentration of nitrate rapidly decreased from 2.3 to 0.4 mg/L for only 20 minutes after stopping the inflow, followed by substantial release of phosphorus up to 4 mg/L under anaerobic condition. Jar test showed that the minimum alum doses to reduce the initial $PO_4$-P below 0.2 mg/L were 2 and 9 mol-Al/mol-P in the wastewater and the activated sludge from the membrane tank, respectively. It implies that a pre-coagulation in influent is more cost-efficient for phosphorus removal than the coagulation in the bioreactor. On the result of NUR test, there were little difference in terms of denitrification rate and contents of readily biodegradable COD between raw wastewater and pre-coagulated wastewater. When adding alum into the aerobic tank, alum doses above 26 mg/L as $Al_2O_3$ caused inhibitory effects on ammonia oxidation. Using the two-stage coagulation control based on pre-coagulation, the P concentration in the MBR effluent was kept below 0.2 mg/L with the alum of 2.7 mg/L as $Al_2O_3$, which was much lower than 5.1~7.4 mg/L as $Al_2O_3$ required for typical wastewater treatment plants. During the long-term operation of MBR, there was no change of the TMP increase rate before and after alum addition.

갯장어껍질 열수 추출물의 항산화 효과 (Antioxidant Effect of HotWaterExtract of Muraenesox cinereus's Skin)

  • For the development of functional food and cosmetics using hot water extract of Muraenesox cinereus's skin, contents of vitamin, amino acid and element, and antioxidant activity were investigated. The results are shown as follows: among vitamins, A(0.21mg/100 g), C (78.12mg/100 g), $D_3$ (0.03 mg/100 g), E (1.97 mg/100 g) and Niacin (2.53mg/100 g) were detected, respectively.Mineral contents were an order of K > P > Na > Mg > Ca > Fe and Zn. Contents of total amino acids were an order of Pro > Gly > Arg > Glu > Phe > Ala. Especially, the sum of total amino acids was 27.17 mg/100 mL, which was about 4.0 fold higher than that of free amino acid. DPPH radical scavenging activity of hot water extract of M. cinereus's skin at 25 mg/mL was 63.5% and did not increase at above 50 mg/mL. Activities of antioxidant enzymes in the liver of ethanol-treated rats using hot water extract of M. cinereus's skin were investigated. Compared to control group, activities of ADH and GSH-px were decreased. In the case of CAT and SOD activity, they were increased. These results showed that the hot water extract of M. cinereus's skin can be applied to raw macterial for functional food and cosmetics.

  • Background: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), a major problem of health in Thailand, particularly in Northeastern and Northern regions, is generally incurable and rapidly lethal because of presentation in stage 3 or 4. Early diagnosis of stage 1 and 2 could allow better survival. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a distribution map of populations at risk for CCA in BuaYai district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, Northeast Thailand. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out in 10 sub-districts and 122 villages, during June and November 2015. The populations at risk for CCA were screened using the Korat CCA verbal screening test (KCVST) and then risk areas were displayed by using Google map (GM). Results: A total of 11,435 individuals from a 26,198 population completed the KCVST. The majority had a low score of risk for CCA (1-4 points; 93.3%). High scores with 6, 7 and 8 points accounted for 1.20%, 0.13% and 0.02%. The population at risk was found frequently in sub-district municipalities, followed by sub-district administrative organization and town municipalities, (F=396.220, P-value=0.000). Distribution mapping comprised 11 layers: 1, district; 2, local administrative organization; 3, hospital; 4, KCVST opisthorchiasis; 5, KCVST praziquantel used; 6, KCVST cholelithiasis; 7, KCVST raw fish consumption; 8, KCVST alcohol consumption; 9, KCVST pesticide used; 10, KCVST relative family with CCA; and 11, KCVST naive northeastern people. Geovisual display is now available online. Conclusions: This study indicated that the population at high risk of CCA in Bua Yai district is low, therefore setting a zero model project is possible. Key success factors for disease prevention and control need further study. GM production is suitable for further CCA surveillance and monitoring of the population with a high risk score in this area.

Community-Based Health Education and Communication Model Development for Opisthorchiasis Prevention in a High Risk Area, Khon Kaen Province, Thailand

  • Background: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a community-based health education and communication programme on reducing liver fluke infections caused by the consumption of uncooked fish among people in a high-risk area of Thailand. Materials and Methods: The study was quasi-experimental in nature, with three-stages. Stage 1 involved a situational and capacity analysis of designated communities in Khon Kaen province. This was followed by the development of a model for community-based health education and communication to prevent liver fluke infections among high-risk people, and, lastly, implementation and evaluation of the model were performed. Data were collected using both qualitative and quantitative methods. In total, 390 people were surveyed, and quasi-experimental and comparison groups, each with 90 people, were assessed between May 2011 and April 2012. Analysis was using statistical OR, 95 % CI, the Willcoxon matched pairs signed ranks test, the chi-square test, and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The findings showed that most respondents had a high level of knowledge and understanding of liver fluke disease (89.5%, 95% CI:86.0-92.4), and positive attitudes toward the prevention of the disease (94.4%, 95% CI:91.6-96.4). However, with regard to changes in consumption of uncooked fish, most respondents were still in the pre-contemplation phase (55.1%, 95% CI:50.0-60.1), followed by the contemplation phase, 22.6%. Furthermore, four factors were found to be associated with the consumption of uncooked fish - the consumption of alcohol (OR 4.16, 95% CI:1.79-9.65), gender (OR 3.17, 95% CI:1.53-6.54), smoking (OR 3.03, 95% CI:1.31-7.05), and age 40 years and above (OR 2.68, 95% CI:1.02-7.05). After nine months of the health education and communication programme using local media based on local wisdom, culture and persons, the results showed that, compared to the control group, members of the experimental group had a higher level of knowledge, a better attitude and lower levels of ill-advised consumption behaviour. Also, it was found that consumption of uncooked fish, by an assessment of the level of stage of change, was reduced. (p-value 0.002). Conclusions: The health education and communication programme developed as part of the study was effective in changing the consumption of uncooked fish. Therefore, this approach should be promoted in other high-risk areas in Thailand in the future.

皇龍寺 49萬소斤 巨鐘은 어디로 (The Whereabout of the Bell Imperial-Dragon-Temple)

  • 작금에 皇龍寺 49萬소斤 巨鐘의 행방이 문제가 되는 것은, 최근 경주시가 그 종을 찾아서, 우리 민족 문화의 국보를 되살리고, 이를 경주 황룡사 종루에 복원하면 그 종소리와 더불어 영원할 것이라는 데 있다. 그리하여 해군에서도 최신 장비를 동원하여 그 종이 빠졌다는 동해구를 뒤지고 있다. 그러나, 그 종은 고려 숙종조에 녹여 져서 신종으로 만들어 졌다는 것이 三國遺事 卷三, 皇龍寺 鐘條에 나와 있다는 것을 발견했다. 그리고, 그것을 기준으로 계산해 보니 皇龍寺 巨鐘: 무게 41.0 ton, 높이 3.14 m, 구경 2.44 m 皇龍寺 新鐘: 무게 7.4 ton, 높이 2.07 m, 구경 1.61 m임이 드러났고 종의 收率(종의 무게/입증)이 聖德大王 神鐘은 34.7 %, 皇龍寺 巨鐘은 13.6 % 임을 알았다. 그리고, 1103년에 皇龍寺 新鐘(7.4 ton)이 원 황룡사 거종이 달려있던 자리에 매달려 있다가, 1238년 11월에, 몽고 제3차 침입군에 의하여 황룡사 전체는 타 버리고, 그 新鐘은 지금의 ④번 國道의 course를 따라 토함산맥 제일 낮은 고개를 넘어, 보문양북면 大鐘川동해구로 끌려가서 동해구에서 몽고행 배에 싣다가 그 곳에 빠뜨렸다고 보여진다. 이번에 잘하면 해군이 7.4 ton의 황룡사 신종을 건질 수 있을런지 모른다.

NaCl 처리가 눈개승마[Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus (Maxim.) H. Hara]의 생육과 생리활성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of NaCl Treatment on Growth and Physiologycal Activity of Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus (Maxim.) H. Hara)

  • 본 논문은 염(NaCl) 처리 시 눈개승마의 생육과 생리활성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 0, 100, 200, 300 mM의 농도로 염 처리를 하였다. 처리 30일 후 초장, 엽폭, 엽장 및 무기 이온 함량을 측정하여 생육에 미치는 영향을 조사하였고 생리활성에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 항산화 활성 및 염증 생성 물질인 NO 생산량을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 염 처리 시 대조구에 비하여 생육 저하되었으며 염 농도 100, 200, 300 mM 처리구 간의 차이는 뚜렷하게 나타나지 않았다. 무기이온 함량은 염 처리시 $Na^+$의 함량은 증가하였고 $K^+$의 함량은 감소하였으며 $Ca^{2+}$ 함량은 염 처리 시 대조구에 비해 증가하였고 $Mg^{2+}$ 함량에서는 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 100 mM 이상의 농도에서는 $Na^+$ 함량이 현저하게 증가됨에 따라 식물 생장에 불리한 $K^+/Na^+$, $Ca^{2+}/Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}/Na^+$ 비를 초래하였다. 총 폴리페놀 함량과 플라보노이드 함량은 100 mM 이상의 염 농도에서 모두 감소하였으며 염 농도가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. DPPH, ABTS radical 소거활성 및 환원력에서도 대조구에 비해 염 처리농도가 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 염 처리 시 눈개승마의 마우스 대식세포 Raw 264.7 cell에서의 세포독성 및 항염증 활성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 CCK assay와 염증 생성 물질인 NO 생산량을 측정한 결과, 염 처리구에서 모두 100% 이상의 생존율을 보여 세포독성이 없음을 확인하였다. 또한, NO 생산량의 경우 항산화 활성의 경향과 마찬가지로 대조구에 비해 100 mM 이상의 염 처리구에서 NO 생산 억제 활성이 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 따라서, 염 처리시 100 mM 이상의 농도에서 눈개승마의 생육과 항산화, 항염증 활성이 저하됨을 확인하였으며, 이는 염 스트레스로 인해 생장과 생리활성 저하를 유발된 것으로 생각된다. 따라서, 눈개승마의 경우 100 mM 미만의 농도에서 생육 및 생리활성 유지에 적합한 조건을 확립하기 위한 추가 연구가 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

1,3-부타디엔 제조 및 취급 근로자의 노출특성에 관한 연구 (Exposure Characteristics of 1,3-Butadiene Exposed Workers)

  • 1,3-butadiene is classified as suspected human carcinogen, group A2(American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, ACGIH). In Korea, 1,3-butadiene has been used as a raw material; monomer, homopolymer, polybutadiene latex, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) and styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR), in the petrochemistry and precision chemistry industry. As petrochemistry industry in Korea has been developed, the potential exposure possibility of 1,3-butadiene to workers can be increased. Therefore the purpose of this study is to evaluate airborne 1,3-butadiene concentration and workers' exposure levels in the workplace using 1,3-butadiene. Air samples were collected with 4-tert-butyl catechol(TBC) charcoal tube(100 mg/50 mg) and were analyzed by gas chromatograph/flame ionization detector(GC/FID) according to the Choi's method(2002). Geometric mean (GM) and arithmetic mean (AM) of total 59 workers' exposure concentrations to airborne 1.3-butadiene were 0.042 ppm and 1.51 ppm, respectively. Although most samples were lower than 1ppm, 2 samples(21.5ppm and 33.1ppm as 8hr-TWA) were exceeded the Korean standard(2ppm) over 10 times at the repair process in synthetic rubber and resin manufacture industry. 14 samples(41%) of total 34 short-term air samples were exceeded the Korean standard(10ppm as STEL) of Ministry Labor. 1,3-butadiene concentration(GM) in the synthetic rubber and resin manufacture industry(7.87ppm) was significantly higher than that in the monomer manufacure industry (0.35ppm)(p<0.05). Also in the sampling and repair process, each GM(range) was 1.39ppm(N.D.-469.6ppm) and 7.85ppm(N.D.-410.2ppm). In conclusion, it depends on the industry and process, 1,3-butadiene can be exposed to workers as high concentration for short-term.

Zygosaccharomyces rouxii를 배양하여 제조한 발효갈비양념의 품질특성 및 저장성 (Quality Characteristics of Fermented Beef-Rib Sauce Prepared by Zygosaccharomyces rouxii Cultivation)

  • 갈비용 양념의 품질과 저장성 향상을 목적으로 내염성 효모인 Zygosaccharomycess rouxii Y-80을 갈비양념의 원료에 배양시킨 후 부재료를 혼합하여 발효갈비양념을 제조하였다. 발효갈비양념과 비발효갈비양념의 일반성분에서 큰 차이는 없었으나 발효갈비양념에서 에탄올 함량이 1.5배 정도 높았으며, isoamyl acetate, acetic acid ethyl ester, isopropyl alcohol 등의 방향성 성분이 다량 함유되어 있어 양념의 풍미 향상에 기여하는 것으로 사료되었다. $25^{\circ}C$에서 7일간 저장성을 조사한 결과 발효갈비양념의 pH는 3.34로 낮아졌으며 적정산도는 0.84%까지 증가하였다. 환원당은 4.49%에서 1.77%로 빠른 속도로 감소하였으며, 에탄올 함량은 0.62%에서 3.77%로 증가하였다. 저장 중의 성분변화는 미생물의 증식에 의한 결과이며 발효양념은 비발효갈비양념보다 저장성 향상을 위한 에탄올 농도가 3.0% 이상 높은 농도로 생성되었다. 관능적으로 전체적인 기호도에서 발효갈비양념은 비발효갈비양념보다 양호한 것으로 평가되었다.

Development of On-line Quality Sorting System for Dried Oak Mushroom - 3rd Prototype-

  • In Korea, quality evaluation of dried oak mushrooms are done first by classifying them into more than 10 different categories based on the state of opening of the cap, surface pattern, and colors. And mushrooms of each category are further classified into 3 or 4 groups based on its shape and size, resulting into total 30 to 40 different grades. Quality evaluation and sorting based on the external visual features are usually done manually. Since visual features of mushroom affecting quality grades are distributed over the entire surface of the mushroom, both front (cap) and back (stem and gill) surfaces should be inspected thoroughly. In fact, it is almost impossible for human to inspect every mushroom, especially when they are fed continuously via conveyor. In this paper, considering real time on-line system implementation, image processing algorithms utilizing artificial neural network have been developed for the quality grading of a mushroom. The neural network based image processing utilized the raw gray value image of fed mushrooms captured by the camera without any complex image processing such as feature enhancement and extraction to identify the feeding state and to grade the quality of a mushroom. Developed algorithms were implemented to the prototype on-line grading and sorting system. The prototype was developed to simplify the system requirement and the overall mechanism. The system was composed of automatic devices for mushroom feeding and handling, a set of computer vision system with lighting chamber, one chip microprocessor based controller, and pneumatic actuators. The proposed grading scheme was tested using the prototype. Network training for the feeding state recognition and grading was done using static images. 200 samples (20 grade levels and 10 per each grade) were used for training. 300 samples (20 grade levels and 15 per each grade) were used to validate the trained network. By changing orientation of each sample, 600 data sets were made for the test and the trained network showed around 91 % of the grading accuracy. Though image processing itself required approximately less than 0.3 second depending on a mushroom, because of the actuating device and control response, average 0.6 to 0.7 second was required for grading and sorting of a mushroom resulting into the processing capability of 5,000/hr to 6,000/hr.

초고압처리 시간과 pH 변화에 의한 마늘의 이취성분 저감화 (Effects of High Hydrostatic Pressure and pH on the Reduction of Garlic Off-flavor)

  • 마늘의 사용 확대와 고부가가치의 새로운 기능성 소재 및 제품을 개발하고자 마늘의 독특한 향을 제거하기 위하여 침지액의 pH와 초고압처리시간을 달리하여 실험하였으며, 마늘향의 변화를 GC와 전자코를 이용하여 측정하였다. 시료를 90분간 완충용액(pH 1.8-10.2)에 침지 시킨 뒤 500 MPa의 압력으로 56초-15분4초 초고압처리를 하였다. GC 분석 결과 19개의 함황화합물이 분리 동정되었고 알데하이드, 알콜, 퓨란, 탄화수소, 케톤류 역시 검출되었다. 전자코 분석으로 얻은 데이터로 주성분 분석을 실시한 결과 초고압처리한 시료 모두 대조구에 비하여 이취가 많이 감소하였고, 초고압처리시간이 증가할수록 마늘의 향이 급격히 감소하였다. 강산성 및 강알카리 조건에서도 마늘의 향은 감소하였다. pH는 마늘 향의 형성에 영향을 주었으며 특히 강산의 경우 마늘향의 저감화에 더 효과적이었다. 초고압처리시간이 증가함에 따라 총 sulfide 화합물의 양이 감소하였고 pH 6의 용액에 침지 후 15분 4초간 초고압처리한 시료의 경우 생마늘에 비하여 향이 약 70% 감소하였다. 전자코와 GC-MS 결과의 상관성 분석 결과 $R^2$ 값이 0.9620로 나타나 두 실험결과가 유사함을 입증해 주었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 침지액의 pH와 초고압처리시간의 조절로 마늘 이취의 저감화가 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.
