Signal Processing for MoC Brake Rattle Noise of Moving Vehicles Using Prony Analysis (프로니 분석을 이용한 주행 환경에서의 브레이크 래틀 소음 발생 특성 분석)

  • To verify the possibility of generating rattling noise from a motor on caliper brake system, a test was conducted using a caliper excited with vibrations similar to that in a vehicle running on actual roads; this test was conducted using a quiet shaker installed in an anechoic room. After several hours of external excitation, the test assembly was loosened, and the frequency of rattling noise generation increased. A microphone was used to record the generated noise. The measured signals were analyzed by conventional spectrum analysis. Since the noise is generated as an impact response, the advantages of employing Prony analysis was discussed, and the results were compared to those obtained using conventional fast Fourier transforms. The accuracy of Prony analysis was through endurance tests on different brake systems.

  • Recently, Most of diverse noise of vehicles has decreased competitively according to development of the automotive manufacturing technology. Especially, Passenger car manufacturers has been conducting buzz, squeak and rattle(BSR) noise test as a method of the noise evaluation tests to reduce an unpleasant sound from interior parts on the driving the car. This paper suggest a evaluation method for detecting position of noise source from measured noise signals of vehicle seats during random excitation BSR test. Hereby the BSR test procedure used the test regulation of 'G' company. The detection of noise source positions used the Sound image equipment. Through suggested the test method on this paper, an accurate analysis of noise source occurred in the BSR test will be possible.

  • Main sources of the vibration in gear driving system are transmission error and backlash. Transmission error is the difference of the rotation between driving and driven gear due to tooth deformation and profile error. Vibro-impacts induced by backlash between meshing gears lead to excessive vibration and noise in many geared rotation systems. Nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the gear driving system due to transmi- ssion error and backlash are investigated. Transmission error is calculated for spur gear. Nonlinear equation of motion for the gear driving system is developed with the calculated transmission error and backlash. Numerical analysis of the equation and the experimental results show the existence of meshing frequency, superharmonic compon- ents. Instability of the gear driving motion is found on the basis of Mathieu equation. Rattle vibration due to backlash is also discussed on the basis if nonlinear jump phenomenon.

  • Recently, the market has been released a lot of excellent NVH performance cars such as hybrid, electric and luxury cars. Therefore, the consumer is a tendency of many sensitive of the noise inside the vehicle than in the past. In order to match the propensity of such consumers, the automotive industry defines the standard of product related to noise generation of a single product. However, it is difficult to reduce the noise of the product to automobile part suppliers to follow these standards. In this paper, we propose a method for evaluating several necessary in order to find a way to reduce the noise.

  • In most vehicle manufactures have traditionally relied on find-fix method of human auditor, mainly due to variation excitation source. To solve the BSR noise, the requirements for BSR test are presented in terms of detection of noise source, analysis of time-frequency and sound pressure, sound quality for noise. A number of new technology direction, particularly in the field of noise source identification application and psycho-acoustics from the Zwicker's sound quality parameter, the computed objective sound metrics and subjective jury test result.

  • The small gear head noise is caused by gear accuracy, assembling errors, and gear backlash. This main study is an investigation on noise quality of the small gear head through the change of gear backlash. In this study included gear design parameters related the small gear head, the knowledge of rattle noise related gear backlash, and the experimentation results of the small head noise through change of gear backlash. At last, this study propose the least method of the small gear head noise that is caused by suitable existence of gear backlash.

  • In this paper, BSR noise from an instrument panel of a vehicle are investigated with integrated experimental methods. First, potential source regions of the instrument panel for BSR are localized by using the module-excitor and near-acoustic field visualization system. Then, subjective evaluation of BSR nosie from the detected potential noise source regions is made with the Zwicker's loudness and time-varying loudness methods.

  • This paper reals with the structure and function of duel mass flywheel. Damping effects of engine rotational fluctuation are compared with those of pre-damper clutch and duel mass flywheel and driven- system behavior is estimated engine idle r.p.m. The reason of gear rattle noise is higher in summer than winter and driving longer period than initial driving is due to affection by drag torque changing. The above-contents can be used on the design of clutch system and transmission matching including engine and duel mass flywheel.
