소형 풍력발전기 소음 저감을 위한 익형 설계 연구 (Design of Low Noise Airfoil for Use on Small Wind Turbines)

  • Wind power is one of the most reliable renewable energy sources and the installed wind turbine capacities are increasing radically every year. Although wind power has been favored by the public in general, the problem with the impact of wind turbine noise on people living in the vicinity of the turbines has been increased. Low noise wind turbine design is becoming more important as noise is spreading more adverse effect of wind turbine to public. This paper demonstrates the design of 10 kW class wind turbines, each of three blades, a rotor diameter 6.4m, a rated rotating speed 200 rpm and a rated wind speed 10 m/s. The optimized airfoil is dedicated for the 75% spanwise position because the dominant source of a wind turbine blade has been known as trailing edge noise from the outer 25% of the blade. Numerical computations are performed for incompressible flow and for Mach number at 0.145 and for Reynolds numbers at $1.02{\times}10^6$ with a lift performance, which is resistant to surface contamination and turbulence intensity. The objective in the low design process is to reduce noise emission, while sustaining high aerodynamic efficiency. Dominant broadband noise sources are predicted by semi-empirical formulas composed of the groundwork by Brooks et al. and Lowson associated with typical wind turbine operation conditions. During the airfoil redesign process, the aerodynamic performance is analyzed to minimize the wind turbine power loss. The results obtained from the design process show that the design method is capable of designing airfoils with reduced noise using a commercial 10 kW class wind turbine blade airfoil as a basis. The new optimized airfoil clearly indicates reduction of total SPL about 3 dB and higher aerodynamic performance.

횡류형 터빈을 적용한 수직축 풍력발전시스템의 성능평가를 위한 실험 연구 (An Experimental Study for the Performance Analysis of a Vertical-type Wind Power Generation System with a Cross-flow Wind Turbine)

  • 본 최근 성장하고 있는 해상 풍력의 실험연구에서 풍동시험이 수직형 횡류 풍력발전시스템의 성능을 조사하기 위해 실시되었다. 풍동의 시험 부분은 제한된 크기로 인해 실제 풍력 발전의 입구 안내 베인을 약 1/5로 축소시켰고, 터빈 임펠러의 지름을 모형 임펠러의 1/2로 감소시켰다. 임펠러 블레이드 갯수는 풍력 발전 시스템의 출력에 대한 또 다른 중요한 변수이기 때문에 8개와 16개로 변경하여 시험하였다. 실험 분석 결과, 모형 풍력 터빈의 출력 제동력은 정격 풍속 12m/s에서 블레이드 갯수가 8개 보다 16개일 때 82% 출력이 증가된 278와트로 측정되었고, 정격 제동력은 정격 작동 조건에서 3.9kW로 계산되었다.

  • This paper presents a design of vertical axis Darrieus wind turbine for wind-power generating system. The wind turbine consists of two troposkien blades, diameter is 10m approximately, and chord length 380mm, tip ratio speed 4. The design of turbine is laid for the main data of rated wind speed 10m/s, turbine speed 78rpm, the generating power is estimated to 25kW, and this is contorted to commercial power line by means of three phase synchronous generator-inverter system.

NREL 5MW 풍력터빈 제어용 저주파 통과 필터와 드라이브 트레인 댐퍼의 효과 고찰 (A Study on the Effect of Low Pass Filter and Drive Train Damper for the NREL 5MW Wind Turbine Control)

  • It is essential to examine and analyze the power output and load responses together using real-world turbulent wind speeds. In this paper, the power controller and the drive train damper are simultaneously considered using the NREL 5MW wind turbine model, and the damage equivalent load(DEL) of the low speed shaft torque and power output responses according to the natural frequency of the second order low pass filter are simultaneously investigated. Numerical testing is carried out above rated wind speed using commercially available Bladed software. From the viewpoints of DEL reduction of the drive train shaft torque and power output responses, it is shown that the natural frequency of the low pass filter is appropriately about 6 to 10rad/s. And the reduction ratio of the DEL of the low-speed shaft torque decreases as the wind speed becomes higher, and it is confirmed that the reduction ratio is limited to about 20% at high wind speeds.

  • Wide operating range and speed control is needed for wind power generating and a Doubly Fed Induction Generator(DFIG) has good adaptivity for that purpose. This paper deals with power and power factor control using the Grid connected DFIG in the wide speed regions, by controlling frequency and voltage fed to the rotor. Power flow of the DFIG and steady-state algebraic equations of the equivalent circuit are analyzed. For a normal operating region, in which the generator ratings were not exceeded, the rotor current was either less than or equal to the rated value. Accordingly, the optimal power factor can be selected relative to the permissible rated current at the rotor coil which controls the magnitude of the injected rotor voltage to the rotor according to a given rotor frequency.

풍력터빈 토크제어의 특성 고찰 (A Study on Properties of Torque Control for Wind Turbine)

  • The aerodynamic torque and power caused by the interaction between the wind and blade of wind turbine are highly nonlinear. For this reason, the overall dynamic behaviors of wind turbine have nonlinear characteristics. The aerodynamic nonlinearity also affects properties of torque control for wind turbine. In this paper, the nonlinear aerodynamic property according to the wind speed below rated power and its effects on the torque control system are investigated. Nonlinear parameter representing change of aerodynamic torque with respect to rotor speed is obtained by linearization technique. Effects of this aerodynamic nonlinear parameter on the closed-loop torque system with PI controller for an 1.5 MW wind turbine are presented.

도서지역 적용을 위한 230 kW급 저풍속 중형 풍력발전기의 전자장해석 (Electromagnetic Field Analysis of 230 kW-class Low Wind Speed Medium Wind Turbine for Island-area Application)

  • Recently, a project to build a carbon zero island with no carbon emissions has been carried out by replacing diesel generators with renewable energy sources in island areas where diesel generators supplied local loads as independent systems. To minimize damage to the lives of islanders, low noise wind generators should be installed by adjusting the rated speed. In islands with low loads, wind turbines that are more efficient than medium-sized wind turbines should be installed. In this study, the generator field analysis and characteristics were analyzed to develop 230 kW-class low wind medium-wind turbine technology. The electromagnetic field analysis program used Maxwell. As a result, the cogging torque was reduced, and the initial maneuver wind speed and loss value were lowered. Hence, the output amount was increased with high efficiency.

중형 풍력터빈의 출력 및 타워 하중저감 제어기 설계 (Design of Power and Load Reduction Controller for a Medium-Capacity Wind Turbine)

  • A control algorithm for a 100 kW wind turbine is designed in this study. The wind turbine is operating as a variable speed variable pitch (VSVP) status. Also, this wind turbine is a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) Type. For the medium capacity wind turbine considered in this study, it was found that the optimum tip speed ratios to achieve the maximum power coefficients varied with wind speeds. Therefore a commercial blade element momentum theory and multi-body dynamics based program was implemented to consider the variation of aerodynamic coefficients with respect to Reynolds numbers and to find out the power and thrust coefficients with respect tip speed ratio and blade pitch angles. In the end a basic power controller was designed for below rated, transition and above rated regions, and a load reduction algorithm was designed to reduce tower vibration by the nacelle motion. As a result, damage equivalent Load (DEL) of tower fore-aft has been reduced by 32%. From dynamic simulations in the commercial program, the controller was found to work properly as designed. Experimental validation of the control algorithm will be done in the future.

  • 풍력 터빈은 정격 풍속 미만일 때는 최대 출력을 내기위한 제어를 한다. MPC(Maximun Power Control)제어방법은 발전기의 회전속도를 제어하여 최대 출력을 내는 방법인데 풍속을 알아야한다. 하지만 여러 가지 이유로 풍속을 실측하기보다는 풍속을 예측하여 사용하는 방법들이 제안되고 있다. 풍속예측은 TSR(Tip Speed Ratio)을 알아야 하는 데, TSR은 복잡한 관계식을 풀어야 한다. 그래서 TSR을 구하기 위해 다양한 방법들이 소개되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 TSR을 쉽고 빠르게 구하기 위하여 복잡한 관계식을 리그레션을 이용하여 간단한 방정식으로 근사화하는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 Matlab/Simulink 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제대로 작동하는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 풍력터빈의 토크제어는 정격풍속 이하에서 매우 중요하다. 토크제어의 주된 목적은 바람이 가진 공기역학적 파워로부터 최대의 파워를 얻도록 하는 것이다. 풍력터빈의 토크제어 방법은 토크모드 제어와 속도모드 제어로 크게 두 경우로 구분된다. 토크모드 제어는 풍력터빈에서 잘 알려지고 전통적으로 사용되는 방법으로 발전기 회전속도의 제곱에 비례하도록 발전기의 토크크기를 발생시킨다. 속도모드 제어에서는 발전기의 토크크기를 발생하기 위하여 PI 제어기를 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 실제 풍속이 난류인 점을 고려하여 2.75 MW 풍력터빈을 대상으로 두 토크제어 방법을 적용한 수치실험 결과를 제시하고 응답특성을 비교한다.
