Nucleate boiling experiments on heating surface of constant wall temperature were performed using R113 for almost saturated pool boiling conditions. A microscale heater array and Wheatstone bridge circuits were used to maintain a constant wall temperature condition of heating surface and to measure the heat flow rate with high temporal and spatial resolutions. Bubble images during the bubble growth were taken as 5000 frames per second using a high-speed CCD camera synchronized with the heat flow rate measurements. The bubble growth behavior was analyzed using the new dimensionless parameters for each growth regions to permit comparisons with previous experimental results at the same scale. We found that the new dimensionless parameters can describe the whole growth region as initial and later (thermal) respectively. The comparisons showed good agreement in the initial and thermal growth regions. In the initial growth region including surface tension controlled, transition and inertia controlled regions as divided by Robinson and Judd, the bubble growth rate showed that the bubble radius was proportional to $t^{2/3}$ regardless of working fluids and heating conditions. And in the thermal growth region as also called asymptotic region, the bubble showed a growth rate that was proportional to $t^{1/5}$, also. Those growth rates were slower than the growth rates proposed in previous analytical analyses. The required heat flow rate for the volume change of the observed bubble was estimated to be larger than the heat flow rate measured at the wall. Heat, which is different from the instantaneous heat supplied through the heating wall, can be estimated as being transferred through the interface between bubble and liquid even with saturated pool condition. This phenomenon under a saturated pool condition needs to be analyzed and the data from this study can supply the good experimental data with the precise boundary condition (constant wall temperature).

Bubbles within the foamed concrete manufactured by pre-foaming method is the main factor which affects the physical properties of foamed concrete such as density, strength, and porosity. Although many researches on foamed concrete have been continuously carried out, insufficient number of researches on the properties related to bubbles in the foamed concrete has been performed except for chemical application related researches. In order to make an optimal foamed concrete, study on the bubble properties must be pursued. In order to effectively implement bubbles in the manufacturing of foamed concrete, the bubble properties must be estimated. In this study, in order to determine the bubble properties, examination of the bubble properties according to types and foaming agent concentration was performed. An foaming agent used for this test were anionic surfactant, rosin, and protein system with the foaming agent concentration range of 0.05~13%. Test parameters considered in the study were foaming rate, foam volume, drainage solution volume, and bubble size. The study results showed that, regardless of foaming agent type, higher concentration of foaming agent showed an increase in the foaming rate. Also, the results showed that concentration of foaming agent affected bubble size, drainage solution volume change, and bubble distributions. With respect to the stability of the bubble, protein foaming agent was better than anion surfactant or rosin foaming agent. With respect to the bubble shape, anion surfactant and rosin formed bubbles had polygon shape where as protein formed bubbles had spherical shape.
Frequencies of each size class, annual change of tuber state and above ground/belowground rate in sect. Pes-gallinaceua group of Corydalis (Fumariaceae) were studied to clarify spring ephemeral´s growth characteristics from 1999 to 2000 in Namhansansung area. Shoot grew from the tuber corresponding with soil thawing in the early growth season, and the deeper tuber was located in soil, the later shoot germinated. Shoot appeared in middle March and died early in May, and the period of total growth season was 45 days. Frequencies were 40% (in total dry weight) or 53% (in tuber´ dry weight) in the smallest size class, and 93% (in total dry weight) or 96% (in tuber´ dry weight) below medium size, therefore, almost all of plants were small. Specific gravity of tuber (SGT) gradually decreased from late growth season to the time that leaf unfolded in next year. At this time, the value of SGT was 0.14. Thereafter, SGT increased to 0.42 at withering time of aboveground part. During growth season, the SGT of flowering plants was lower than that of non-flowering plants. And SGT difference between flowering plants and non-flowering plants was significant at 1% level. In the late growth season, SGT decreased along the increase of tuber volume. The tuber volume roughly increased along the leaf area but there was no a conspicuous trend. Shoot/tuber rate had nothing to do with tuber volume. SGT decreased and leaf area increased along the tuber dry weight, and tendencies of increase or decrease were conspicuous. Therefore, the smaller the plants were, the larger organic matter accumulated in tuber during a growth season. Shoot/tuber rates were various along each plant.

From previous studies, there is a strong possibility in buffaloes that the marked increase in blood volume (BV) under hot conditions contributes to heat transportation from the rectum to the skin. The present study was done to clarify changes with environmental temperature on water-shift between blood and extracellular fluid (ECF), heat distribution between the rectum and the skin, and blood flow rates (BFR) at the hind legs (reflecting the skin surface). Four buffaloes and four Friesian cows were successively exposed to three different temperatures of $20^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$. BV and ECF volume were measured with Evans' blue and sodium-thiocyanate dilution methods, respectively. Rectal and subcutaneous (as the skin) temperatures were measured by copper-constantan thermocouples. BFR were measured by a supersonic blood flow meter. With an increase in environmental temperature, skin temperature in buffaloes increased significantly than cows, but rectal temperature was not significantly different between two species. BV, especially plasma compartment, increased significantly in only buffaloes, while ECF volume did not change in both species. BFR increased significantly in buffaloes, but not in cows. From these results, the increased of BV may be caused by water flowing from ECF compartment. The water-shift may induce the increase of BFR and skin temperature. It is suggested in the present study that internal changes of blood compartment in buffaloes contribute to transfer of heat to the skin surface.

This study presents an experimental investigation into the performance of self-sensing grout formulated with a high volume of ultra-fine fly ash(UHFA). To explore the potential benefits of alternative cementitious materials, the research examined the effect of substituting UHFA with equal parts of blast furnace slag(BFS) fine powder. Both UHFA and BFS are byproducts generated in significant quantities by industrial processes. The evaluation focused on the fresh properties of the grout, including its flow characteristics, as well as the hardened properties such as compressive strength, dimensional stability(length change rate), and electrical properties. The experimental results demonstrated that incorporating UHFA resulted in a substantial reduction in the plastic viscosity of the grout, translating to improved flowability. Additionally, the compressive strength of the UHFA-modified grout surpassed that of the reference grout(without UHFA substitution) at all curing ages investigated. Interestingly, the electrical characteristics, as indicated by the relationships between FCR-stress and FCR-strain, exhibited similar trends for both grout mixtures.

The shear strength of cohesionless Soils results from particle-to-particle friction and structural resistance by interlocking. And, the shear strength of soils is subjected to vary depending on the internal states and external condtions. If the volume change occurring in the soils and stress-strain relationships under the internal and external changes can accrurately he described, it is possible to predict the behaviors of soils. To accomplish these objectives a series of drained triaxial compression tests and isotropic compression test was performed on the Banwol sand at different relative densities ranging from 20% to 80% and different confining pressures ranging from 0.4kgf/cm$^2$ to l2kgf/cm$^2$. The results and main conclusions of the study are summarized as follows; 1.When the relative density or the confining pressure is increased, the maximum deviator stress is increased. The ratio of the maximum deviator stress and the confining pressure is linearly proportional to the relative density. 2.It is observed that the dilatancy depends not only upon its relative density but also the confining stress, and that the maximum deviator stress is obtained after the diatancy occurs. 3.The volume of sands undergoes initial contraction prior to the dilatancy occurred by strain softening. The dilatancy rate eventually approaches the critical state or a constant volume. 4.At lower strains, Poisson's ratio approaches a certain minimum value regadless of the state of materials. At larger strains, however, the ratio is increased as the relative density is increased. 5.It is observed that the modulus of elasticity is linearly proportional to the relative density and the pressure. 6.When the relative density is increased, the friction angle of sands is linearly increased. 7.When the relative density is increased, the expansion index and the compression index are linearly decreased, and the ratio of the two is about 1/3.
During the last several decades, Korea has been regarded as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. However, the small size of national land has not met the vigorous demand for land necessary to develop economic infra-structures such as large-scale harbors airports and highways. In order to satisfy the growing demand for land, the Korean government and industry have implemented the national land development programs to reclaim land from the sea fur the several decades. It is certain that these land development programs have resulted in a lot of property disputes between fishermen and public project administrators. This paper is to develop a quantitative model to estimate compensation for damages or restriction of charted fisheries resulting from large-scale public projects. In this paper, the compensation model is derived by using cost-volume-profit analysis framework because the compensation for charted fisheries basically depends on the factors such as the costs, production volume, profit of charted fisheries damaged or restricted by public projects. The model shows that the compensation for damages or restriction of charted fisheries is determined by the average annual profit, damage duration period, and the degree of fishery damages. In addition, the degree of fishery damages measured by the ratio of lost profit to annual average profit turns out to be determined by the following factors: annul profit, unit variable cost, decrease in production volume, the rate of increase in variable cost, and a change in fixed cost. Furthermore, this parer discusses the nam issues related to practices and regulation of the compensation for fishery damages in the current Fishery Act of Korea and suggests some appraisal methods which will be able to lead to theoretically correct and fair compensation for fisheries damages resulting from large-scale public projects.

A theoretical study on gas-liquid two-phase flow flushing systemnitrogen gas to the oil used for existing flushing equipment was conducted on the basis of ISO code so as to improve performance of existing high-temperature oil flushing equipment used in ocean plant facility drying field. For study, we analyzed process simulation results mixed fluid mixing ratio, temperature, Reynolds number and liquid hold up affectcleaning performance after designing oil-nitrogen gas mixture flushing system process. As a result, as the volume flow rate of mixed fluid increases with the tube diameter the volume fraction of the gas phase constant, the liquid fraction difference value at the inlet and outlet of horizontal hydraulic piping increases. It was found that the phase distribution between oil and nitrogen gas bubbles varies depending on the position the pipe lengthdirection. This change in phase distribution is expected to have a significant impact on the clean performance of an oil-nitrogen gas mixture flushing system.
SWMM-LID was calibrated with flow monitoring data in LHI to evaluate runoff after LID application. The flow rate in the B basin was estimated to be 0.94 and 6.15 for O/S and $D_v$, respectively. In the A and C basins, the difference between the observed and simulated data was greater than in the B basin. As a result of runoff reduction efficiency by the application of LID facilities, the change of infiltration increased from 34.6 % to 45.8 % in the entire watershed, and the runoff decreased from 58.8 % to 46.3 %. In the runoff reduction of each LID facility, rain garden E showed the highest effect with 99.9 % and bioretention B showed the lowest effect with 27.5 %. In order to evaluate the efficiency of each LID facility, a comparison is made between the pore volume (V) of the LID and the catchment area (A). The runoff showed a runoff reduction effect of about 70 % above the 0.1 volume/area (V/A) value. As a result of examining the runoff reduction with LID facilities by the LID module of SWMM, a reasonable design is possible by reflecting the appropriate LID volume to drainage area.
Impaired respiratory function is common in patients with stroke. The purpose of this study were to investigate the effectiveness of exercises and to assess forced vital capacity and peak cough flow after completion of neck stabilizing and respiratory reeducation exercises (combining diaphragmatic breathing and pursed-lip breathing exercises). The 45 participants were randomly assigned to an experimental group 1 ($n_1=15$), experimental group 2 ($n_2=15$), and a control group ($n_3=15$). All subjects performed conservative physical therapy for 30 minutes. Experimental group 1 undertook the neck stabilizing exercise and the respiratory reeducation exercise. Experimental group 2 undertook the respiratory reeducation exercise. Additional exercise did not exceed 30 minutes, five times a week for six weeks. The subjects were assessed for deep neck flexor thickness and breathing function (forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume at one second, forced expiratory volume at one second/forced vital capacity, peak expiratory flow, and manual assisted peak cough flow) at pre-post value. The results of this study were as follows. Experimental group 1 showed a significant increase only in deep neck flexor thickness change rate (p<.05). All groups showed significant increases in forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume at one second, and peak expiratory flow in pre-post measurement (p<.05). Experimental groups 1 and 2 showed an increase in manual assisted peak cough flow in pre-post measurement (p<.05). There was no significant difference between experimental group 1 and experimental group 2, but experimental group 1 improved more than experimental group 2 in respiratory function as a whole. In conclusion, these findings suggest that the neck stabilizing exercise in combination with the respiratory reeducation exercise can improve forced vital capacity and peak cough flow in patients with stroke.
