The effect of hairy vetch sod culture on reduction of soil loss and providing of nitrogen was investigated for the fields of Chinese cabbage in Hoenggye-Ri, Pyeongchang-Gun Gangwon-Do (780 m above sea level) from 2002 to 2003. Hairy vetch was sowed at just before planting, 15, 30 and 40 days after planting and right after harvest of Chinese cabbage. Hairy vetch was sod-cultivated with Chinese cabbage. The amount of sowing was $40kg\;10a^{-1}$. In this experiment, proper sowing times that had no influence on the yield of Chinese cabbage were 30 and 40 days after planting while other sowing times led to decrease the yield. In case of the former, there was 74% reduction effect of soil loss compared with no-hairy vetch because of covering the fields with hairy vetch right after harvest. Moreover, when the hairy vetch was put into the soil before planting of Chinese cabbage in the next year, it showed 61-79% substitution effect of standard application rate ($320kg\;ha^{-1}$, chemical fertilizer) for nitrogen fertilizer. It is suggested that using hairy vetch as cover crop would be useful in conservation of soil loss and reduction input of agricultural materials.
Recently, crushed fine aggregates are being widely used due to the shortage of natural sand. In Korea, the amount of fine particles under 0.08 mm contained in crushed fine aggregates is restricted to be less than 7%, which is similar to the regulations of ASTM but is still very strict compared to the regulations of the other nations. In addition, the crushed aggregates already have in them about 20% of fine particles under 0.08 mm which occurs while they are crushed. The fine particles are not easy to wash out, and also to maximize the use of resources it is deemed necessary to review the possibility of enhancing the limit of the amount of fine particles. Therefore, this study conducted experiments to analyze the characteristics of fine particles under 0.08mm and their influence on the properties of concrete. Experiments using silt and cohesive soil were also done for comparison. In the experiments on fine particles, the methylene blue value was more in the soil dust contained in silt and cohesive soil than in the stone powder contained in crushed fine aggregates. Also, the methylene blue value had a close correlation with packing density and liquid & plastic limit. In the experiments done with concrete, the quantity of high range water reducing agent demanded to obtain the same slump increased as the fine particle substitution rate heightened. However, in the experiment which used stone powder testing the compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete in the same water-cement ratio, there was little change in strength with less than 20% addition of fine particles among the fine aggregates, and no meaningful difference in the amount of drying shrinkage of concrete.

Salt stress is one of the deteriorating abiotic stresses due to the climate change, which causes over-accumulation of $Na^+$ and $Cl^-$ ions in plants and inhibits the growth and yield of rice especially in coastal Southeastern Asia. The yield components of rice plant (panicle number, spikelet number per panicle, 1000-grain weight, % of ripened grains) that are majorly affected by salt stress vary with growth stages at which the plant is subjected to the stress. In addition, the salt sensitivity of each yield component differs among rice varieties even when the salt-affected growth stage was same, which indicates that the physiological mechanism to maintain each yield component is different from each other. Therefore, we hypothesized that rice plant has different genes/QTLs that contribute to the maintenance of each yield component. Using a Japanese leading rice cultivar, Koshihikari, and salt-tolerant Nona bokra's chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) with the genetic background of Koshihikari (44 lines in total) (Takai et al. 2007), we screened higher yielding CSSLs under salinity in comparison to Koshihikari and identified the yield components that were improved by the introgression of chromosome segment(s) of Nona bokra. The experiment was conducted in a salinized paddy field. One-month-old seedlings were transplanted into a paddy field without salinity. These were allowed to establish for one month, and then the field was salinized by introducing saline water to maintain the surface water at 0.4% salinity until harvest. The experiments were done twice in 2015 and 2016. Although all the CSSLs and Koshihikari decreased their yield under salinity, some CSSLs showed relatively higher yield compared with Koshihikari. In Koshihikari, all the yield components except panicle number were decreased by salinity and % of ripened grains was mostly reduced, followed by spikelet number per panicle and 1000-grain weight. When compared with Koshihikari, keeping a higher % of ripened grains under salinity attributed to the significantly greater yield in one CSSL. This indicated that the % of ripened grains is the most sensitive to salt stress among the yield components of Koshihikari and that the Nona bokra chromosome segments that maintained it contributed to increased yield under salt stress. In addition, growth analyses showed that maintaining relative growth rate in the late grain filling stage led to the increased yield under salt stress but not in earlier stages.

We present the effects of temperature (between 10 K and 298 K) and of hole concentration on the frequency and intensity of characteristic phonons in polycrystalline $La_2CuO_4-related$ compounds using FT-IR spectros-copy. The influences of the concentration of carrier doped on the phonon modes are prominent in the IR spectra of $La_2CuO_4-related$ compounds. For $La_2-xSrxCuO_4({\chi}=$ 0.00, 0.03, 0.07, 0.10, and 0.15) and electrochemically (or chemically) oxidized $La_2CuO_4$, the intensities of the transverse oxygen mode around 680cm $-^1$ which cor-responds mainly to Cu-O(1) stretching vibration in the basal plane of CuO6 octahedron, are decreased and dis-appeared depending on the Sr-substitution rate and the amount of excess oxygen, while the longitudinal oxygen mode around 510 cm $-^1$ corresponding to the Cu-O(2) stretching in the basal plane of CuO6 octahedron are near-ly invariable. In particular, after two cycles of cooling-heating between 10 K and 298 K for these sample, the phonons around 680 cm $-^1$ are blue shif 13-15 cm $-^1$, while the phonons around 510 cm $-^1$ are nearly constant. The introduction of the charge carrier by doping would give rise to the small contraction of CuO6 oc-tahedron as Cu $^3+$ requires a smaller site than Cu $^2+$, which results in the shortening of the Cu-O(1) bond length and Cu-O(2) bond length with the increased La-O(2) bond length. These results in the frequency shift of the characteristic phonons. The IR spectra of $La_2Li0.5Cu0.5O_4$ which exhibits an insulator behavior despite the $Cu^3+$ of nearly 100%, corroborate our IR interpretations. The mode around 710 cm $-^1$ corresponding to Cu-O(1) stretching vibration is still strongly remained even at low temperature (10 K). Thus, we conclude that the con-duction electrons formed within $CuO_2$ planes of $La_2CuO_4-related$ superconductors screen more effectively the transverse oxygen breathing mode around 680 $cm-^1$ depending on the concentration of the doped charge carrier in $La_2CuO_4-related$ compounds, which might use as a superconductivity probe.
This paper is to determine the possibility of re-using waste concrete from Incheon city area. The strength test was conducted with five aggregate compounds which was replaced a natural aggregate with recycled aggregate. After checking the physical characteristics of recycled aggregate compounds, the mix design of recycled concrete was conducted. For the relatively comparison between natural and recycled compounds, while the unit aggregate weight was changed, other conditions were fixed. The freezing and thawing test which included fly-ash and super-plastezer were performed to check the durability and workability when recycling waste concrete. In the physical characteristics of recycled aggregate, it was found that the specific gravity of recycled coarse aggregate and recycled fine aggregate satisfied the first grade of recycle specification(KS), and all compounds of recycled aggregate also satisfied the second grade of absorption specification, Especially up to the 50% substitution of recycled aggregate is equal to or a bit lower than that of convention aggregate. In comparison with conventional concrete, the recycled concrete is lower than maximum by 7% in compressive strength decreasing rate after freezing-thawing test. From now, although most of recycled concrete was used to the building lot, subgrade, asphalt admixture, through the result. It was proved that possibility of re-using recycled aggregate as the substructure of bridge, retaining wall, tunnel lining and concrete structure which is not attacked the drying shrinkage severely.

Since 1960, Korea the town center was developed intensively due to rapid industrial development. As a result of the development, the population was concentrated in urban areas and the green area was decreased. Due to the decrease of the green area, the circulation system of the rainwater was changed, hence the rainwater was not introduced into the groundwater., On the other hand, the water on the surface of the road was changed into the water for flowing to the river and evaporation. The changes in the water flow cause many problems, and the depletion of the groundwater does not create an environment in which microorganisms and plants can live. in Korea, permeable pavement construction is increased to solve these problems, but existing pavement blocks have many problems. The pores of the permeable block are clogged due to the accumulation of dust or whitening phenomenon, and the permeability is lost. In this study, the solution of the problems of existing permeable block were suggested by using polymer and artificial permeable pipe, and strength, permeability and service life are increased, The relationship between the substitution rate of the polymer and the mixing ratio of the artificial permeable pipe was analyzed.
To develop the carrier of hydrophobic antifungal agents based on low molecular weight water-soluble chitosan (LMWSC), LMWSC was chemically modified with deoxycholic acid (DA) which is one of the bile acid as a hydrophobic group. The nanoparticles (WSCDA) using DA conjugated LMWSC were characterized using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmittance electron microscope (TEM). The particle size of WSCDA ranged from 250 to 350 nm and increased with the number of DA substitution. The loaded itraconazole as an antifungal agent WSCDA nanoparticles (WSCDA-ITCN) were prepared by solvent evaporation method. The drug content and the loading efficiency were investigated approximately $9{\sim}10%$ and $61{\sim}68%$ by UV spectrophotometer, respectively. The release of drug from nanoparticles was slow and showed sustained release characteristics. Based on the results of release study that the higher DA contents in WSCDA, the slower the releasing rate, the WSCDA-ITCN could be used as an excellent antifungal agent.
The random utility theory and the multinomial logit model (including a more recent variant--the mixed multinomial logit) derived from it have constituted a back bone for theoretical and empirical analyses of various travel demand features including mode choice. In their empirical applications, however, it is customary to specify random utilities which are linear in modal attributes such as time and cost, and in socio-economic variables. The linearity helps easy derivation of important information such as value of travel time savings by calculating marginal rate of substitution between time and cost. In this paper the author focuses on the very linearity of the random utilities. Taking into account the fact that the mode chooser is also labour supplier, commodity consumer as well as leisure-seeker, the author sets up a maximization model of the traveller, which encompasses various economic activities of the traveller. The author derive from the model the indifference curve defined on the space of modal attributes, time and cost and investigate under what conditions the random utility of the traveller becomes linear. It turns out that there exist the conditions under which the random utility is really linear in modal attributes, but the property does not hold when the traveller has a corner solution on the space of modal attributes, or when the primary utility function of the traveller is directly affected by labour provided and/or the travel time itself. As a corollary of the analysis, a random utility is suggested, approximated up to the second order of the variables involved for empirical studies of the field.
Using the CGE model, this paper investigates economic impacts of a shortage in crude oil resulting from voluntary export restraints, OPEC's agreement of a cut in oil production, and/or a storing on speculation. Unlike most previous studies considering oil price as the unpredictable variable, this study constructs the model to determine the oil price endogenously under the condition of an insufficient supply of crude oil. According to IEA's extraordinary steps for a shortage of crude oil, we investigate an economic impact of 7~12% shortage below the level of business as usual. The results show that oil price soars by 17.3~33.5%, the rate of economic growth falls by 0.52~0.96%p, and the consumer price index(CPI) rises by 0.8~1.51%p. These results imply that increasing in 1%p of oil price results in decreasing in 0.03%p of economic growth and increasing in 0.045%p of consumer price index. The production of electricity declines because of the increase in production cost. A shortage of crude oil has an effect on sources of electricity. Most reduction in electricity generation occurs from the reduction in the thermal power generation which is highly dependent on crude oil. The shortage of crude oil causes demand for petroleum to significantly decline but demand for coal and heat to increase because of the substitution effect with petroleum. Demand for gas rise in the first year but falls from the second year.

Agricultural workers who mix/loads and spray pesticide in fields expose to pesticide through dermal and inhalation routes. In such situation, exposed amount should be measured quantitatively for reasonable risk assessment. Patch, gloves, socks and mask will be good materials for monitoring for dermal exposure while personal air monitor equipped with solid adsorbent and air pump will be a tool for inhalation exposure. For extrapolation of absorbed amount in dermal exposure matrices and of trapped amount in solid sorbent to total deraml or inhalation exposure, Korean standard body surface area and respiration rate were proposed in substitution of EPA data. Important exposure factors such as clothing and skin penetration ratio of dermal and inhalation exposure were suggested based on Spraying time for exposure monitoring must be long enough that the amount of pesticide to get absorbed/trapped in exposure matrices results in reasonable analytical value. In domestic case for the both of speed sprayer and power spray machine, spraying time of 20~40 minutes (0.1~0.2 ha) will be reasonable per single replicate before extrapolating to 4 hours a day with triplicates experiment.
