  • Since the development of railway technology, the current urban Railway the first train line in the country for safe operation control automatic/unattended operation, automatic train operation equipment available (ATO) on time and reliable operation has introduced. ATO Automatic operation controlled by the value (Target velocity) and the feedback value (Actual velocity) by the error between the backing and braking of the train by repeated low energy efficiency. In this paper, given a fixed distance stations between time operation with minimal energy in the driving characteristics and driving trains are modeled. Therefore, in line 5 real route time sectional drive straight sections for experimental data analysis / draft Section / curved and section of the train on that line is selected according to the changing driving patterns to minimize the energy optimal driving patterns were presented.

  • With the rapid development of Urban Mass Transit in China, the Intelligent Transport System becomes inevitable. Based on the brief introduction of the blueprint of Urban Mass Transit in Shanghai, this paper analyses in detail the components and functions of Automatic Train Control (ATC) system applied in Shanghai Metro, presents the key technology of the main three subsystems of the ATC system : Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) subsystem, Automatic Train Protection (ATP) subsystem, Automatic Train Operation (ATO) subsystem.   • Rail provides running tract for train and broadly and widely conveys the weight of the train exerted from the train wheels that the rail directly supports onto the cross tie and roadbed, and supports the cross-sectional pressure exerted by centrifugal force at curvatures. That is, stationary rail provides surface on which dynamic train runs and guarantees cross-sectional resistance to enable the vertical snake motion of the train wheels as well as to maintain lateral force at curvatures. Rail provides running surface on which train wheels can run smoothly, and secures vertical and lateral force. However, it undergoes continuous destructive reactions (wearing and damages) and abrasion of the cladding by the train wheels. It is obvious that wearing will result when two metal parts act against each other. However, occurrence of abnormal wearing such as rapid wearing of the rail side due to complex generation of various mechanisms at the contact surface between the rail and train wheel flange. It is not easy to simply examine the causes of occurrence of abnormal wearing of rail and train wheel flange. Although countless number of academicians and specialists are conducting researches on abnormal wearing of rail and vertical wearing of train wheels, I believe it is too early to argue on pros and cons due to insufficiency of officially verified information on the issue. This review will be focusing on the examples of repairs that reduced the generation of abnormal wearing of rail by reviewing and improving characteristics of wearing and slack, speed of the train and cant as well as status of lubricator by choosing the compound curves present in the section between the $Anguk{\sim}Jongno3-ga$ Stations of the Route No. 3 among the compound curve tracks of the Seoul Metro Routes No. 3 & 4 at which abnormal wearing is generated continuously.

Estimation of Mass Rapid Transit Passenger's Train Choice Using a Mixture Distribution Analysis (통행시간 기반 혼합분포모형 분석을 통한 도시철도 승객의 급행 탑승 여부 추정 연구)

  • Identifying the exact train and the type of train boarded by passengers is practically cumbersome. Previous studies identified the trains boarded by each passenger by matching the Automated Fare Collection (AFC) data and the train schedule diagram. However, this approach has been shown to be inefficient as the exact train boarded by a considerable number of passengers cannot be accurately determined. In this study, we demonstrate that the AFC data - diagram matching technique could not estimate 28% of the train type selected by passengers using the Seoul Metro line no.9. To obtain more accurate results, this paper developed a two-step method for estimating the train type boarded by passengers by applying the AFC data - diagram matching method followed by a mixture distribution analysis. As a result of the analysis, we derived reasonable express train use/non-use passenger classification points based on 298 origin-destination pairs that satisfied the verification criteria of this study.

  • The Platform Screen Door system(PSD) is scheduled to be installed on the platform of some subway stations in Seoul, Pusan, Kwang-Ju, Daejun and Daegu and all stations of Seoul Subway No 9. will equipped with PSD. On the other hand Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Speed(SMRT) that has operated the train automatically had finished the basic desic design and the execution drawing of PSD and installed successfully the PSD on the platforms in the Kimpo Airport station in Subway Line No 5. at dec. 2005. The exhibition operations of PSD has made the major contribution to build up the safe and optimum subway for the increasing customers. Nowadays PSD has operated on ATO sections and ATS sections. But in the case of closing the door manually in ATO sections, it would be delayed about 5 seconds in closing the door of PSD. Although the interface of PSD, train and the signal system is established automatically, we have to supplement technically on the interface between train, PSD and the ground signal interface equipments. Therefore I will center on the optimizing methods about the interfacing system between the train and the PSD, train and the signal system to overcome the above problems in this study.

This paper describes a study on the Brake Control System of Canada RAV Rapid Transit which also has various special features, to help comprehensive concept of brake control system including Cross Brake Control System and Guaranteed Emergency Brake Rate.

  • Driverless Train Control System has been recently introduced and commercialized in Korea. It is expected that the vehicle with driverless operation system will be used in new lines such as Sinbundang line soon. Therefore it is necessary to change the system operation and conception of the existing train operation system and the necessity of driverless vehicle monitoring system meeting a new paradigm is rising. In order to dispel concerning about safety issues caused by driverless train operation, the importance to establish vehicle error detection, useful fault diagnosis and rapid action plans is higher than ever. For this, efficient and higher level of vehicle supervision & control system should be essentially supported. In this study, remote driverless vehicle monitoring system using by radio communication is suggested to be used for monitoring and controlling important parts of the vehicle and diagnose and take quick actions when vehicles are in trouble at control tower at real time.

  • With the rapid development of information and communication technology, CBTC system based on the wireless communication is widely applied in the railway signal system recently. CBTC system has advantages of lower installation space and maintenance fee than existing systems and the increase of transportation capacity and improvement of operating efficiency etc. due to the short headway. Based on the continuous wireless data communication between onboard and wayside equipment, CBTC system not only locates the train and transmits the information required for the train control, but also implements the moving block function by calculating the brake curves continuously according to distance from the preceding train. CBTC system can use either inductive loop (IL-CBTC) or radio frequency transmissions (RF-CBTC). In this paper, we propose RF-CBTC system architecture based on the functional modules, in which the CAN bus network is applied for the interfaces between the modules.

  • Wire forming machine is widely used in industries to make a variety of wire products such as coil springs and links. Along with the rapid development of CNC technologies, the usage of wire forming machine varies from single-purpose machinery to universal CNC machinery. Rotating the wires while feeding them simultaneously, we can improve the performance of the machines with aspects of efficient tooling and complicated geometric forming. In this study, a new gear train is developed for the control of both feeding and rotating wires independently at the same time. The developed mechanism has many benefits as following, making more complicated geometric and precision products, easier tooling, and simpler programming.

  • In high-speed line, at some part of the track which rubber ballast-mat installed, track irregularity grew rapidly and affected riding comfort and train running stability. It is urgently requested to establish counter-measures which can be applied to track under operation. To do this, it is very important to analysis the origin of that phenomenon before. Track support stiffness is an essential factor for evaluating track condition. Sudden changes of support stiffness along track occur instability of train and bad riding comfort. Preventing sudden changes of track support stiffness is a key technique in high-speed track maintenance. Besides the sudden changes, the magnitude itself also significantly affects track and train. Low stiffness of ballast-mat makes ballast acceleration area wider. And it may accelerate track irregularity growth. So, the stiffness should be limited. To calculate track stiffness, measuring load and displacement on track is needed. In this study, the behavior of the track which rubber ballast-mat installed was measured and analyzed to understand the origin of rapid growth of it.
