High-Performance Plasmon Bio-Sensor with Grating Profile based on Metallic Layer (금속층에 기반한 격자구조형 고성능 플라즈마 바이오센서)

  • An analytical model based on a modal transmission-line theory (MTLT) is developed to investigate the optical transmission through metal gratings. This model gives well physical meanings for the transmission as well as for the dispersion relations of the modes responsible for high transmission. These concepts provide accurate information even for real metals used in the visible~near-infrared wavelength range, where surface plasmon polaritons (SPP's) are excited. Furthermore, the dispersion relations allow the nature of the propagation modes to be assessed. The propagation modes are hybrid between Fabry-Pérot like modes and SPP's. It is important to consider different period and aspect ratio of metal gratings in order to determine the nature of the hybrid modes. In this paper, the sensing characteristics and mode propagation phenomena of high-performance plasma bio-sensors that depend on these variables were clearly analyzed.

Development of PDMS-based Drag Force-type Flowmeter with Graphite-CNT Composite as Piezoresistive Material (흑연과 CNT 복합체를 압저항체로 하는 PDMS 기반의 바람저항형 유속센서 개발)

  • In this study, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based drag force-type flowmeter was fabricated using a graphite-carbon nanotube (CNT) composite as a piezoresistive material and evaluated. The device was in the form of a cantilever, which was composed of the soft material, PDMS, and fabricated using a mold manufactured by a three-dimensional printer. The cost-effective graphite was mixed with CNTs to serve as a piezoresistive material. The optimal mixing ratio was investigated, and the piezoresistive material formed using a graphite:PDMS:CNT ratio of 1.5:1:0.01 was adopted, which showed a stable output and a high sensitivity. Various forward and backward air flows in the range of 0-10 m/s were measured using the fabricated flowmeter, and both tensile and compression characteristics were evaluated. The measured results showed a stable output, with the resistance change gradually increasing with the air flow rate. Repeatability characteristics were also tested at a repeated air flow of 10 m/s, and the flowmeter responded to the applied air flow well. Consequently, the fabricated device has a high sensitivity and can be used as a flowmeter.

  • Virtual reality content provides users with a high sense of immersion by using HMD devices. However, while wearing the HMD device, it is difficult to determine the user's location or distance from obstacles, resulting in injuries due to physical collisions. In this paper, we propose a reminder module to prevent accidents by notifying the risk of collision with obstacles while wearing the HMD device. The proposed module receives the user's state from the acceleration and gyro sensor and determines the motion that is likely to cause a collision. If there is an obstacle in the expected collision range, a buzzer sounds to the wearer. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy of obstacle detection in the state of wearing the HMD was 86.6% in the 1st stage and 83.3% in the 2nd stage, confirming the performance of the accident prevention reminder.

  • Recently, RFID/USN technology has been applied in various fields such as logistics, environment, education, home network, disaster prevention, military, and medical care, but despite the remarkable development of RFID/USN technology, it is difficult to apply it to marine industry due to the characteristics of poor marine environment. Therefore, satellites are mainly used in the marine sector, and existing communication networks are used in the coast, so measures for forming a shelf-only short-range network in the ocean are being considered. In this paper, we consider the use of drones as mobile base stations of USN as a base station role using USN in existing PS-LTE and LTE networks.Since autonomous navigation vessels are aiming for the intelligent system, the number of crew and labor force should be reduced and the function of autonomous network formation in the form of more stable and intelligent ICT convergence technology should be strengthened.

  • Latest technological innovation in the development of compact lower power radios has led to the explosion of Internet of Things. With Wi-Fi, Zigbee and other physical layer protocols offering short coverage area there was a need for a RF protocol that had a larger coverage area with low power consumption. LoRa offers Long Range with lower power consumption. LoRa offers point to point and point to multipoint connections. with Single hop communication in place the need for routing protocols are eliminated. LoRa Wide Area Network stack can accommodate thousands of nodes under a single LoRa gateway with a single hop communication between the end nodes and LoRaWAN gateway. This paper takes an experimental approach to analyze the basic physical layer parameters of LoRa and the practical coverage offered by a LoRaWAN under highly dense urban conditions with variable topography. The insights gained from the practical deployment of the LoRaWAN network, and the subsequent performance analysis is used to design a novel public utility monitoring platform. The second half of the papers is designing a robust platform to integrate both existing wired sensor water meters, current and future generation wireless water meters. The Common Automated Metering Platform is designed to integrate both wired sensors and wireless (LoRaWAN and Wi-Fi) supported water meters. This integrated platform reduces the number of nodes under each LoRaWAN gateway and thus improves the scalability of the network. This architecture is currently designed to accommodate one utility application but can be modified to integrate multi-utility applications.

  • A sensitive and selective determination method of Fe(II) ion by luminol-H2O2 system using a chelating reagent has been presented. A metal ion-chelating ligand complex such as Fe(II)-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) produced higher chemiluminescence (CL) intensity as well as longer lifetime in luminol-H2O2 system than metal exist as free ions. Furthermore, the catalytic activity of Cu(II) and Pb (II) complexes with chelating reagents in luminol-H2O2 system was lost since chelating reagents act as a masking agent although free Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions have high catalytic activity. On the optimized conditions, the calibration curve of Fe(II) ion was linear over the range from 1.0×10-7 to 2.0×10-5 M with correlation coefficient of 0.996. The detection limit was calculated to be 4.0×10-8 M.

Definition, Scope, and Applications of Physiotherapy Biofeedback: Systematic Reviews (물리치료 바이오피드백의 정의 및 범위와 활용법: 체계적 문헌고찰 )

  • PURPOSE: The definition and scope of biofeedback are broad and lack a clear framework. Therefore, efforts are needed to clearly understand the exact range and definition of biofeedback based on the research and development conducted to date. Thus, the purpose of this study was to arrive at the definition and scope of biofeedback through a literature review and analysis of its application methods. METHODS: This study is a systematic literature review conducted to understand the various types and effects of biofeedback. International databases such as Google Scholar and PubMed were used. Domestic databases utilized for keyword searches included the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) and the National Digital Science Library (NDSL). Quality assessment of the selected studies in the selection process was done using the Cochrane risk of bias, and the research was analyzed according to the population, intervention, control, and outcomes (PICO) format. RESULTS: Studies conducted between 2019 and 2021 were selected, with 4 papers falling under physiological classifications and 7 under biomechanical classifications. The quality assessment results showed that random sequence generation, allocation concealment, performance bias, and reporting bias were unclear. Detection bias was moderate, and attrition bias and other biases were low. Out of the 11 papers, 9 dealt with physical function outcomes, 5 with daily life activities, and 3 with mental functions. CONCLUSION: Physiological biofeedback tended to influence psychological factors more than physical functions, while biomechanical biofeedback tended to have a positive impact on physical functions.

Accuracy Assessment of Environmental Damage Range Calculation Using Drone Sensing Data and Vegetation Index (드론센싱자료와 식생지수를 활용한 환경피해범위 산출 정확도 평가)

  • In this study, we explored a method for assessing the extent of damage caused by chemical substances at an accident site through the use of a vegetation index. Data collection involved the deployment of two different drone types, and the damaged area was determined using photogrammetry technology from the 3D point cloud data. To create a vegetation index image, we utilized spectral band data from a multi-spectral sensor to generate an orthoimage. Subsequently, we conducted statistical analyses of the accident site with respect to the damaged area using a predefined threshold value. The Kappa values for the vegetation index, based on the near-infrared band and the green band, were found to be 0.79 and 0.76, respectively. These results suggest that the vegetation index-based approach for analyzing damage areas can be effectively applied in investigations of chemical accidents.

  • There has been increasing demand for real-time monitoring of body and ambient temperatures using wearable devices. Graphene-based thermistors have been developed for high-performance flexible temperature sensors. In this study, the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of monolayer graphene was controlled by coating polyethylenimine (PEI) on graphene surfaces to enhance its temperature-sensing performances. Monolayer graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) was wet-transferred onto a target substrate. To facilitate the interfacial doping by PEI, the hydrophobic graphene surface was altered to be hydrophilic by oxygen plasma treatments while minimizing defect generation. The effect of PEI doping on graphene was confirmed using a back-gated field-effect transistor (FET). The CVD-grown monolayer graphene coated with PEI exhibited an improved TCR of -0.49(±0.03) %/K in a temperature range of 30~50℃.

  • Existing autonomous driving technology has been developed based on sensors attached to the vehicles to detect the environment and formulate driving plans. On the other hand, it has limitations, such as performance degradation in specific situations like adverse weather conditions, backlighting, and obstruction-induced occlusion. To address these issues, cooperative autonomous driving technology, which extends the perception range of autonomous vehicles through the support of road infrastructure, has attracted attention. Nevertheless, the real-time analysis of the 3D centroids of objects, as required by international standards, is challenging using single-lens cameras. This paper proposes an approach to detect objects and estimate the centroid of vehicles using the fixed field of view of road infrastructure and pre-measured geometric information in real-time. The proposed method has been confirmed to effectively estimate the center point of objects using GPS positioning equipment, and it is expected to contribute to the proliferation and adoption of cooperative autonomous driving infrastructure technology, applicable to both vehicles and road infrastructure.
