In the present article, we analyze airborne Pi-SAR (Polarimetric-Interferometric SAR) X-band images of ocean waves around the Miyake Island at approximately 180 km south from Tokyo, Japan. Two images of a same scene were produced at approximately 40 min. interval from two directions at right angles. One image shows dominant range travelling waves, but the other image shows a different wave pattern. This difference can be caused by the different image modulations of RCS and velocity bunching. We have estimated the dominant wavelength from the image of range waves, and from the wave phase velocity computed from the dispersion relation (though no wave height data were available), the image intensity is computed by using the velocity bunching model. The comparison of the result with the second image at right angle strongly suggests the evidence of velocity bunching.
The microwave sensor in which the sensitivity was excellent and a structure is simple was developed and it manufactured. And the sensing range that uses the developed product was confirmed. When the developed microwave sensor was set up in the ceiling of a building, we confirmed that the amplitude of the sensitive area increased as the tilting angle was enlarged. The sensitive area became a greatest in case the tilting angle was 65 degree. According to the height of a ceiling, because the sensing range is determined, in case of using in the building in which the height of a ceiling is enough secured it is determined to secure the more wide sensitive area. Moreover, the configuration of the circuit having the simple structure makes the miniaturization of a product, and the light weight possible. It is considered to have the price competitive power which it reduces the manufacturing cost, is sufficient.
In this paper, Electret is formed to range voltage -5[kV] to -8[kV] by corona charging in PTFE film and sensor is manufactured by method of moments in sensing infra sonic. Charges of charged film are calculated also TSC measurement and induced potential of sensing electrode according to the charges is become aware of computer simulation. Electret Infra Sonic Transducer, which is designed and manufactured according to the potential and electric field simulation in using method of moments, is proved as it is effectively. Because sensitivity that measured under 10[Hz] is that average value of sensitivity rising rate is 6.34 [dB/oct] as average value is $\pm$1 [dB/oct] range -5[kV] to -8[kV] in corona charging film. As a result, it is believed that characteristic of acquired transducer can be application of medical treatment, industry, and animal life researches and the study of noise elimination, what's more, is required.
Camera rigs for shooting 3D video are classified as manual, motorized, or fully automatic. Even in an automatic camera rig, the process of Stereoscopic 3D (S3D) video capture is very complex and time-consuming. One of the key time-consuming operations is capturing the distance parameters, which are near distance, far distance, and convergence distance. Traditionally these distances are measured by tape measure or triangular indirect measurement methods. These two methods consume a long time for every scene in shot. In our study, a compact laser distance sensing system with long range distance sensitivity is developed. The system is small enough to be installed on top of a camera and the measuring accuracy is within 2% even at a range of 50 m. The shooting time of an automatic camera rig equipped with the laser distance sensing system can be reduced significantly to less than a minute.
A high performance organic phototransistor with dynamic range of 120 dB is demonstrated by employing soluble pentacene as a photo-sensing layer. The organic phototransistor used suspended source/drain (SSD) electrode structure, which provides a dark current level of ${\sim}10^{-14}$ A at positive gate bias. Under a steady-state illumination, the organic phototransistor exhibited a current modulation of $10^6$ compared to dark to give a dynamic range of 120 dB. These results suggest that the organic phototransistor based on TIPS pentacene can be a new premising candidate for low-cost and high-performance photo-sensing element for digital imaging applications.
Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager (OSMI) is a payload on the Korean Multi-Purpose SATellite (KOMPSAT) to perform global ocean color monitoring for the study of biological oceanography. HOMPSAT was launched 21 December 1999. The radiometric performance of OSMI is analyzed for various gain settings in the viewpoint of the instrument developer for OSMI calibration and application based on its ground performance data measured before launch. The radiometric response linearity and dynamic range are analyzed and the dynamic range is compared with the nominal input radiance for the ocean and the land. The noise equivalent radiance (NER) corresponding to the instrument radiometric noise is compared with the radiometric resolution of signal digitization (1-count equivalent radiance). The best gain setting of OSMI for ocean monitoring is recommended. This analysis is considered to be useful for the OSMI mission and operation planning, the OSMI image data calibration, and users' understanding about OSMI image quality.
AVHRR(Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) on NOAA satellite provides data in five spectral, one in visible range, one in near infrared and three in thermal range. In this paper, application of NOAA/AVHRR data is studied for environment monitoring such as cloud top temperature, surface temperature, albedo, sea surface temperature, vegetation index, forest fire, flood, snow cover and so on. The analyses for cloud top temperature, surface temperature, albedo, sea surface temperature, vegetation index and forest fire showed reasonable agreement. But monitoring for flood and snow cover was uneasy due to the limitations such as cloud contamination, low spatial resolution. So this research had only simple purpose to identify well-defined waterbody for dynamic monitoring of flood. Based on development of these basic algorithms, we have a plan to further reseach for environment monitoring using AVHRR data.
Joint force/torque estimation by inverse dynamics is a traditional tool in biomechanical studies. Conventionally for this, kinematic data of human body is obtained by motion capture cameras, of which the bulkiness and occlusion problem make it hard to capture a broad range of movement. As an alternative, inertial motion sensing using cheap and small inertial sensors has been studied recently. In this research, the performance of inertial motion sensing especially to calculate inverse dynamics is studied. Kinematic data from inertial motion sensors is used to calculate ground reaction force (GRF), which is compared to the force plate readings (ground truth) and additionally to the estimation result from optical method. The GRF estimation result showed high correlation and low normalized RMSE(R=0.93, normalized RMSE<0.02 of body weight), which performed even better than conventional optical method. This result guarantees enough accuracy of inertial motion sensing to be used in inverse dynamics analysis.
