Research on the Lesion Classification by Radiomics in Laryngoscopy Image (후두내시경 영상에서의 라디오믹스에 의한 병변 분류 연구)

  • Laryngeal disease harms quality of life, and laryngoscopy is critical in identifying causative lesions. This study extracts and analyzes using radiomics quantitative features from the lesion in laryngoscopy images and will fit and validate a classifier for finding meaningful features. Searching the region of interest for lesions not classified by the YOLOv5 model, features are extracted with radionics. Selected the extracted features are through a combination of three feature selectors, and three estimator models. Through the selected features, trained and verified two classification models, Random Forest and Gradient Boosting, and found meaningful features. The combination of SFS, LASSO, and RF shows the highest performance with an accuracy of 0.90 and AUROC 0.96. Model using features to select by SFM, or RIDGE was low lower performance than other things. Classification of larynx lesions through radiomics looks effective. But it should use various feature selection methods and minimize data loss as losing color data.

A Study on the Prediction of Drug Efficacy by Using Molecular Structure (분자구조 유사도를 활용한 약물 효능 예측 알고리즘 연구)

  • Drug regeneration technology is an efficient strategy than the existing new drug development process, which requires large costs and time by using drugs that have already been proven safe. In this study, we recognize the importance of the new drug regeneration aspect of new drug development and research in predicting functional similarities through the basic molecular structure that forms drugs. We test four string-based algorithms by using SMILES data and searching for their similarities. And by using the ATC codes, pair them with functional similarities, which we compare and validate to select the optimal model. We confirmed that the higher the molecular structure similarity, the higher the ATC code matching rate. We suggest the possibility of additional potency of random drugs, which can be predicted through data that give information on drugs with high molecular similarities. This model has the advantage of being a great combination with additional data, so we look forward to using this model in future research.

  • The database for the oriental medicine had been existed in documentation in past times and it has been developed to the database type for random accesses in the information society. However, the aspects of the database are not so diversified and the database for the bio herbal material exists in widened type dictionary style. It is a situation that the database which handles the in-depth raw herbal medicines is not sufficient in its quantity and quality. Korean wild grape is a deciduous plant categorized into the Vitaceae and it was found experimentally that it has various medical effects. It is one of the medical materials with higher potentiality of academic study and commercialization recently because it has a bigger possibility to be applied into diverse industrial fields including the medical product for health, food and beauty. We constituted the cooperative system among the Muju cluster business group for Korean mountain wild grapes, Physiology Laboratory in Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine and Medical Classics Laboratory in Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine with a view to focusing on such potentiality and a database for Korean wild grapes was made a touchstone for establishing the in-depth database for the single bio medical materials. First of all, the literatures based on the North East Asia in ancient times had been categorized into the classical literature (Korean literature published by government organization, Korean classical literature, Chinese classical literature and classical literature fro Korean and Chinese oriental medicine) and modern literature (Modern literature for oriental medicine, modern literature for domestic and foreign herbal medicine) to cover the eastern and western research records and writings related to Korean wild grapes and the text-mining work has been performed through the cooperation system with the Medical Classics Laboratory in Kyung Hee University Oriental Medicine. First of all, the data for the experiment and theory for Korean wild grape were collected for the Medline database controlled by the Parliament Library of USA to arrange the domestic and foreign theses with topic for Korean wild grapes and the network hyperlink function and down load function were mounted for self-thesis searching function and active view based on the collected data. The thesis searching function provides various auxiliary functions and the searching is available according to the diverse searching/queries such as the name of sub species of Korean wild grape, the logical intersection index for the active ingredients, efficacy and elements. It was constituted for the researchers who design the Korean wild grape study to design of easier experiment. In addition, the data related to the patents for Korean wild grape which were collected from European Patent Office in response to the commercialization possibility and the system available for searching and view was established in the same viewpoint. Perl was used for the query programming and MS-SQL for database establishment and management in the designing of this database. Fast Generation of Elliptic Curve Base Points Using Efficient Exponentiation over $GF(p^m)$) (효율적인 $GF(p^m)$ 멱승 연산을 이용한 타원곡선 기저점의 고속 생성)

  • Since Koblitz and Miller suggested the use of elliptic curves in cryptography, there has been an extensive literature on elliptic curve cryptosystem (ECC). The use of ECC is based on the observation that the points on an elliptic curve form an additive group under point addition operation. To realize secure cryptosystems using these groups, it is very important to find an elliptic curve whose group order is divisible by a large prime, and also to find a base point whose order equals this prime. While there have been many dramatic improvements on finding an elliptic curve and computing its group order efficiently, there are not many results on finding an adequate base point for a given curve. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to find a random base point on an elliptic curve defined over $GF(p^m)$. We first show that the critical operation in finding a base point is exponentiation. Then we present efficient algorithms to accelerate exponentiation in $GF(p^m)$. Finally, we implement our algorithms and give experimental results on various practical elliptic curves, which show that the new algorithms make the process of searching for a base point 1.62-6.55 times faster, compared to the searching algorithm based on the binary exponentiation.

An Improvement of Still Image Quality Based on Error Resilient Entropy Coding for Random Error over Wireless Communications (무선 통신상 임의 에러에 대한 에러내성 엔트로피 부호화에 기반한 정지영상의 화질 개선)

  • Many image and video compression algorithms work by splitting the image into blocks and producing variable-length code bits for each block data. If variable-length code data are transmitted consecutively over error-prone channel without any error protection technique, the receiving decoder cannot decode the stream properly. So the standard image and video compression algorithms insert some redundant information into the stream to provide some protection against channel errors. One of redundancies is resynchronization marker, which enables the decoder to restart the decoding process from a known state in the event of transmission errors, but its usage should be restricted not to consume bandwidth too much. The Error Resilient Entropy Code(EREC) is well blown method which can regain synchronization without any redundant information. It can work with the overall prefix codes, which many image compression methods use. This paper proposes EREREC method to improve FEREC(Fast Error-Resilient Entropy Coding). It first calculates initial searching position according to bit lengths of consecutive blocks. Second, initial offset is decided using statistical distribution of long and short blocks, and initial offset can be adjusted to insure all offset sequence values can be used. The proposed EREREC algorithm can speed up the construction of FEREC slots, and can improve the compressed image quality in the event of transmission errors. The simulation result shows that the quality of transmitted image is enhanced about $0.3{\sim}3.5dB$ compared with the existing FEREC when random channel error happens.

Hybrid Watermarking Technique using DWT Subband Structure and Spatial Edge Information (DWT 부대역구조와 공간 윤곽선정보를 이용한 하이브리드 워터마킹 기술)

  • In this paper, to decide the watermark embedding positions and embed the watermark we use the subband tee structure which is presented in the wavelet domain and the edge information in the spatial domain. The significant frequency region is estimated by the subband searching from the higher frequency subband to the lower frequency subband. LH1 subband which has the higher frequency in tree structure of the wavelet domain is divided into 4${\times}$4 submatrices, and the threshold which is used in the watermark embedding is obtained by the blockmatrix which is consists by the average of 4${\times}$4 submatrices. Also the watermark embedding position, Keymap is generated by the blockmatrix for the energy distribution in the frequency domain and the edge information in the spatial domain. The watermark is embedded into the wavelet coefficients using the Keymap and the random sequence generated by LFSR(Linear feedback shift register). Finally after the inverse wavelet transform the watermark embedded image is obtained. the proposed watermarking algorithm showed PSNR over 2㏈ and had the higher results from 2% to 8% in the comparison with the previous research for the attack such as the JPEG compression and the general image processing just like blurring, sharpening and gaussian noise.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference between using computers for an Information Literacy Abilities of Young Children(ILAYC) and development of the ILAYC, with regard to following factors: computer use at home, learning in educational facilities for early childhood, and parents' recognition toward computer-assisted education. The data were obtained from random sampling of 4-year old children in educational facilities for early childhood located in J city. The research was conducted in order to measure ILAYC, using the questionnaire for teachers from September 3 to 27, 2009. The t-test to investigate computer utilization ability and information literacy ability for young children revealed that the ILAYC was not significantly influenced by their computer use at home, while the ILAYC varied with learning in educational facilities and parents' recognition toward computer-assisted education. These are resulted from parents' different recognition toward computer-assisted education when they select an educational facility for early childhood.

A Study on Blind Nonlinear Channel Equalization using Modified Fuzzy C-Means (개선된 퍼지 클러스터 알고리즘을 이용한 블라인드 비선형 채널등화에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a blind nonlinear channel equalization is implemented by using a Modified Fuzzy C-Means (MFCM) algorithm. The proposed MFCM searches the optimal channel output states of a nonlinear channel from the received symbols, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function instead of a conventional Euclidean distance measure. Next, the desired channel states of a nonlinear channel are constructed with the elements of estimated channel output states, and placed at the center of a Radial Basis Function (RBF) equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with that of a hybrid genetic algorithm (GA merged with simulated annealing (SA): GASA), and the relatively high accuracy and fast searching speed are achieved.

The Exonuclease 1 Glu589Lys Gene Polymorphism and Cancer Susceptibility: Evidence Based on a Meta-analysis

  • Background: Published studies on the association between the exonuclease 1 (EXO1) Glu589Lys polymorphism and cancer susceptibility have yielded conflicting results. Thus, a meta-analysis of published studies was performed to assess the possible association. Materials and Methods: All eligible case-control studies published up to January 2013 on the association between the EXO1 Glu589Lys polymorphism and cancer susceptibility were identified by searching PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct and hand search. Either fixed-effect or random-effect models were used to calculate pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software version 2.2. Results: A total of 4,391 cancer cases and 4,339 controls from 10 studies were included. Overall, no significant association between the EXO1 Glu589Lys polymorphism and cancer susceptibility was observed in either genetic model. However; in subgroup analyses by cancer type, a significant association between EXO1 Glu589Lys and lung cancer risk was found (Lys vs Glu: OR=1.23, 95%CI=1.07-1.41, $p_{heterogeneity}$=0.05). Further, subgroup analysis by ethnicity indicated that there was a statistically increased cancer risk in Asians (Lys vs Glu: OR=1.42, 95%CI=1.30-1.55, $p_{heterogeneity}$=0.07; Lys/Lys vs Glu/Glu: OR=1.93, 95%CI=1.20-3.12, $p_{heterogeneity}$=0.01; Lys/Lys+Glu/Lys vs Glu/Glu: OR=1.52, 95%CI=1.37-1.68, $p_{heterogeneity}$=0.42; Lys/Lys vs Glu/Lys+Glu/Glu: OR=1.68, 95%CI=1.07-2.65, $p_{heterogeneity}$=0.02). However, significant association was absent in Caucasians. Conclusions: This meta-analysis suggests, for the first time, that the EXO1 Glu589Lys polymorphism is not associated with overall cancer susceptibility, although marginal associations were found for lung cancer and Asian subgroups. Additional well-designed studies with larger sample size focusing on different ethnicities and cancer types are needed to confirm these findings.
